Amidst the ongoing reveal season and Hallow's End celebrations, we've got a retro Tavern Brawl to add some fun to the mix. In the Battle of Tol Barad all Minions you play generate a free Spell of the same cost! The format this time around is Wild, which makes for quite the large selection of cards to choose from.
We settled on 4 decks to showcase in regards to sheer strength, but at the end of the day, luck is quite the deciding factor this week. We've also included a selection of budget-friendly Neutrals you can throw in any class you'd like.
S'theno Demon Hunter
Most of these Neutral cards are a great general fit for any list. We've got value generation effects with the likes of Fire Fly and Pen Flinger, while Forensic Duster and Mor'shan Watch Post are rarely seen forms of disruption that shine in this ruleset. For class-specific inclusions, Demon Hunter can take advantage of all the discounted Spells thanks to Lady S'theno, Altruis the Outcast, and Razorglaive Sentinel. If you ever end up with an unplayable Spell, Bibliomite can just toss it back!
Naga Mage
Everyone knows that Mage can use Flamewaker to stack spells and burn opponents to the ground. But another strong and rather recent inclusion comes in the form of Spitelash Siren. The always available 0-cost Spells mean that you can keep playing your Naga Minions, and even gain Mana in the process! Since those two are the center pieces of the deck, we included Sir Finley, Sea Guide to make sure those powerplays find your hand.
Alura Murloc Paladin
Paladins aren't usually known for cheating out massive boards. And for the most part, this deck plays pretty fair. It's only when you draw into High Abbess Alura that things go crazy. The only Spell we run is Tip the Scales, which will summon 7 6 Murlocs from your deck. That gets you way ahead even if the opponent manages to clear it, since Old Murk-Eye and a pair of Bluegill Warriors will charge face for lots of damage, amplified by the supporting Murloc Warleader and Grimscale Oracle.
Miracle Rogue
We end the main 4 lists with another abnormality, as this deck doesn't stick to only running Minions. Rogue's been receiving a high amount of "Miracle" cards that excel when many cards are played on the same turn. You can set things up with the generic cheap Neutrals, alongside EVIL Miscreant and Efficient Octo-bot. Once you're ready, you have the choice of Biteweed, Sinstone Graveyard, or Edwin VanCleef for massive stats, or simply charge up Necrolord Draka to swing face immediately.
You could also consider running Spectral Pillager, which has now been temporarily added to the Core set. The relatively high Mana cost might be too much of a downside though.
Neutral Staples
Lastly, we've assembled a selection of Rare (or lower rarity) cards you can take your pick from when you're looking for filler cards as replacements. You can also just run the whole deck as it is, but it's assigned as a Warrior deck, so copying the list for any other class isn't as straightforward. On the other hand, if you want to spice things up with some possible Legendary inclusions, we suggest Loatheb, Archmage Vargoth, Millhouse Manastorm, or Headmaster Kel'Thuzad.
If you're still unsure on what you might want to play, make sure to use the "Type:Minion" filter in the search function to see only the Minions in your collection!
