Next year is the 25th anniversary of the Yu-Gi-Oh trading card game, and Konami has something special prepared for players. To celebrate the longevity of the game, the following packs will be released as stand-alone products:
Dark Crisis might also be re-released (why we think that later in the article), but no page for it exists yet. The packs will cost 4.49 USD and contain 9 cards, just like any other Yu-Gi-Oh pack. We don't yet know if the cards will use the old template and wording, or the the more modern ones. It could go either way. They will all release simultaneously on the 14th of July 2023.
These packs contain some of Yu-Gi-Oh's most iconic cards, like Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Dark Magician, Black Luster Soldier, Exodia the Forbidden One, and more. This is a great opportunity to get these cards without paying exorbitant prices.
In addition to these packs, the very first Legendary Collection will be made available as Legendary Collection: 25th Anniversary Edition. This collection will include one booster pack from each of the 6 boosters mentioned above, as well as the following 6 cards in Ultra-Rare rarity, with one of them upgraded to Quarter Century Secret Rare:
- Obelisk the Tormentor
- Slifer the Sky Dragon
- The Winged Dragon of Ra
- Blue-Eyes White Dragon
- Red-Eyes Black Dragon
- Dark Magician
The box releases on April 21st and will cost 31.99 USD or your regional equivalent.
Aside from the obvious nostalgia factor, there's actually some competitive cards here that have not been reprinted in years, some of them not at all. Here's some examples:
- Cold Wave
- Confiscation
- Cyber Jar
- Delinquent Duo
- Dimension Fusion
- Heavy Storm
- Painful Choice
- Premature Burial
- Snatch Steal
- The Forceful Sentry
- Time Seal
Lots of Spells on that list, and for good reason. Early Yu-Gi-Oh Spells were absolutely insane in term of power. We didn't even list cards that have been reprinted, like Dark Hole, Monster Reborn, and Raigeki, which can be found in those packs. All in all, some very good products for both collectors and players. Radom sidenote, but what's Wizards of the Coast up to?
What do you think of this re-release? Which pack are you planning on getting? Let us know in the comments below!
