MARVEL SNAP's newest featured location, Altar of Death, has inspired an assortment of strategies so far, and there's still plenty of time to take advantage of its increased appearance. With that in mind, we've gathered some decks from the SNAP community that play well with Altar of Death for players at every level of Collection: from the very beginners to those near the end of Series 3 and beyond.
As a Featured location, Altar of Death will have a 40% chance to appear for 48 hours, from 7 PM PT Tuesday night to 7 PM PT Thursday night (2 AM UTC Wednesday to 2 AM UTC Friday) - that gives us just enough time to try out these decks that want to see it more often.
Series 1
Our budget recommendation for the featured location is an Ongoing list that splashes into Odin shenanigans with White Tiger to help secure the Altar of Death. Colossus, while he doesn't help with ramp, is another way to get Power to that location.
Series 2
This Jubilee deck should work well for Series 2 players trying to take advantage of the featured location. Specifically, it runs Quicksilver and Domino so you always have cheap cards to sacrifice in the early game to cheat out Jubilee (or something heavier) before you normally would be able to.
Zoo sounds like a strange choice for the Altar, especially in Series 2, but hear us out. First off, we're running Armor, as all good Zoo decks should, and we've also got Onslaught to double up the AoE from Ka-Zar and Blue Marvel. Lastly, we're trying out Sentinel as a semi-free source of +2 Energy that can be repeated across multiple turns.
Series 3
For Series 3 players, TLSG recommends this Lockjaw deck that has a variety of ways to win both the featured location and other locations. Vision is a flexible mover who can get Power where you need it most, while Magneto can pull your opponent's cards away from a location, and can even deny them the ramp from the Altar.
This deck from Alexander Coccia combines the ramp of Electro with the early game of a destroy deck, all in service of getting as much value as possible from the featured location. Captain Marvel can swoop into one of your opponent's lightly-committed locations to win the day.
Series 4
This Series 4 deck uses the every-day dependability of Death and Deadpool to get more out of the Altar of Death than it's putting in. Absorbing Man can repeat any number of powerful On Reveal effects, from the hand-doubling of Moon Girl to the Power-copying of Taskmaster.
