- Cyborg Drake and General Drakkisath received text-only updates to improve their clarity; neither change was a functional change.

Teron Gorefiend will be guaranteed in every lobby for two weeks after his launch. Except that, during this initial period and going forward, Teron Gorefiend will not be offered in any lobbies in which neither Undead nor Beasts are in that game’s minion pool.
Mercenaries Updates
Introducing Mythic Boss Rush
Mythic Boss Rush is here for action-packed end-game Mercenaries PvE content! At its core, Mythic Boss Rush is like a Zone where all the Bounties are short battles against a series of Bounty Bosses—without any filler, like Points of Interest or regular minion battles. Each day, a new Boss Rush will become available until they reset weekly.
Each Boss Rush consists of 3 Bounty Boss fights and then a final fight of two Bounty Bosses at the same time! The bosses all have random anomaly effects that make them stronger, based on a sliding difficulty setting you can choose for yourself. You earn Renown for each Boss Rush clear, with most of your rewards coming from your first clear, based on the difficulty setting you chose.
In Mythic Boss Rush, Renown can be spent to upgrade your Mercenaries even beyond Maxed! Spend your Renown on Abilities, Equipment, or shared Treasures, and get additional stat boosts with your upgrades. Those upgrades persist from Boss Rush to Boss Rush, from week to week, so you can take on tougher bosses and get more rewards over time. These upgrades don’t carry over to the other parts of Mercenaries, so you don’t need to keep pushing if you’d rather focus on The Fighting Pit or regular Bounties.
You’ll be able to unlock Mythic Boss Rush via a free upgrade to the Travel Point. The upgrade becomes available once you’ve unlocked Heroic Bounties and have at least one Maxed Merc.
New Factions and Updated Types
We’re adding Factions to Mercenaries! Factions are an additional classification system for grouping Mercs (similar to Types), representing various groups of characters in the game. A Mercenary’s Faction is depicted by a flag in the upper right corner of their card. These Factions are Horde, Alliance, Explorer, Empire, Legion, and Scourge. Additionally, “Pirate” is being converted from a Type into a Faction. We’re updating how several Abilities, Equipment, and Treasures interact with these new Factions, allowing for new synergies across types. Finally, we’re giving several Mercs a second Type with new dual-type Mercenaries, for even more potential combos and synergies between your Mercs!
Check out the recent Mercenaries Update for more information about dual-Types, the new Factions, and more.

Arena Updates
New Arena Leaderboard!
With Patch 25.4, we’ll be introducing a new Arena leaderboard to the Hearthstone Leaderboards page. Arena will be able to be selected from the dropdown and will automatically update throughout the season, like the other modes.
Similar to before, standings will be based on a modified average wins per Arena run throughout an entire Arena season (minimum 30 runs). Will you be an Arena leader?
New Arena Season
On February 14, when Return to Naxxramas launches, all current Arena runs will end and a new Arena season will begin. The eligible sets will rotate so that the following sets will make up the Arena card pool:
- Core
- Forged in the Barrens
- United in Stormwind
- Fractured in Alterac Valley
- Voyage to the Sunken City
- Murder at Castle Nathria
- March of the Lich King (including Return to Naxxramas)
- Path of Arthas
Duels Update
- Cards from Return to Naxxramas have been added to deckbuilding and card buckets.

Comments
Golden bundle cards are disenchantable?
Yes, they are regular cards
Honestly, aside from the annoying "Deal 100 X damage" daily quests, I won't be touching Mercs again even with these cool updates. The thought of spending time in an officially dead mode would leave a bad taste in my mouth and that's kinda sad.
Maybe in an alternate universe, Mercs never existed and the game was better off for it.
The Deal 100 damage quest are no longer being generated and they are replaced by Play 12 spells of X or Y spell school (for example Shadow or Fel) so you do not need to play Mercs at all
Does this mean we can now effectively use DK cards as other classes, because previously only DK has the corpse counter so no one but them can properly trigger additional effects
If so then that's nice.
This is great for thief priest and rogue!
In DK and expansion announcement I put comment that they should introduce actual graveyard instead corpse counter, because:
- DK cards work only with DK
- potentially new cards for everyone that interact with graveyard
- big priest nerf
And now they did step in that direction.
I think Team 5 had to make this change for cards like Corpse Explosion which were literally and functionally unplayable when generated for another class. Don't recall any other cards doing that before.
I think they tweaked on when everyone ended up playing DK during the Half and Half TB
I wish we could get Diamond version of adventure cards if we have bought related adventures to get them straight up. Like, you need to complete challenges to get all cards anyways, why the game can't check the condition baffles me. I feel down because I disenchanted Arch-Thief Rafaam ages ago and it hurts me to spend 1600 dust just to get cosmetic. I know it's optional, of course, but whatever.
Now I can feel justified in telling HS players to replay the tutorial 😈
As dour as I usually am about Hearthstone design and Mercenaries in particular, those new Mercenaries look fun. In fact, they are the most thematically-linked, mechanically-interwoven, and synergetic suite of cards they've ever produced and look exciting to play.
Which is why it's a tragedy that most people shouldn't even try.
All the same old problems still exist. You're not getting these consistently from packs and farming them into existence and then farming them into playability is such a pain in the ass as to render the upshot moot.
They might as well have thrown in a shortcut to allow players -- at least experienced ones -- to fast-track acquisitions and buildup. As it is, even if you haven't done a good chunk of the single-player content, it's all too boring and onerous to contemplate.
Changing gears, in Battleground news, Teron looks stronk af and looks to be a better Tamsin with a more fun ability.
I wonder if this'll include a stealth-nerf to The Curator (because it is not technically a Mech). The Purator reflects the truth, so maybe they'll bring its past incarnation in line?
I hope they go the opposite way and make all Arcane Golems into Mechs for consistency. If you're not a WoW lore nerd, then you look at an Arcane Golem and you're gonna say that it's a Mech.
Also, I hope they make all the bog beasts Elementals like Bogshaper is. Some bog beasts used to be, but when they did the first round of minion type consistency updates they ruled that they shouldn't be, except they left it on Bogshaper because Elemental Shaman was a playable deck that used the card at the time. Bog beasts are classified as Elementals in WoW (and Mountain Giant isn't an Elemental), so again I don't understand why they went the opposite direction.
