Recapping the Xbox Showcase on June 7

Published an hour ago by

Lots of game announcements have been made this June, from the State of Play on June 2, to the Summer Games Fest show on June 5, and now the Xbox Showcase on June 7. With how many announcements get tossed out over the course of all 3 events, lots of it will fly under the radar for a lot of people. We're here to help you get all of back on that radar.

You can view the full show down below.

You may also check out our Xbox Showcase tag to see every announcement article individually. Let's recap all of what we know.

Gears of War: E-Day

The Xbox 2026 Showcase starts off strong with a look at Gears of War: E-Day. The game takes place in the early days of the Swarm invasion, showing Marcus Fenix in civilian clothing and making his way across an infested city and facing against enemies.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy

We got a new look at Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, the next entry in the rat-infested series. This prequel set before Requiem will have you follow Sophie as she explores the Minotaur's Island. The game releases on August 27th.

Metro 2039

The Metro series is back! Make your way through claustrophobic environments and you explore Moscow's titular Metro station in a post-apocalyptic wasteland in the far-off year of 2039. You'll have a variety of weapons at your disposal, which you'll use to face enemies both human and less so.

Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember

A brief look at Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty's sequel. Titled "Wings of Ember" (and it even has a number, how nice!), we don't know much about the game aside from very brief glimpses at Gameplay.

Senua

We got a look at a new game in the Senua series, simply titled... Senua. Xbox, please tell me this isn't the final name of the game. Only short glimpses of the game were shown in the trailer, some of which is gameplay.

"Revelations" DLC For Doom: The Dark Ages

The Doomslayer is dead. Like that's gonna stop him. A new expansion for Doom: The Dark Ages, subtitled Revelation, is coming on July 7th, and will take the Slayer to somewhere he's never been: A cold place! Wield new weapons and face new enemies and you remind Hell why you're the only thing they fear!

Crazy Taxi: World Tour

YA, YA, YA, YA! There's a new Crazy Taxi game coming, and it looks like it'll take you all around the globe, as you must deliver your customers to their destination, no matter what!

Limited Edition Xbox Series X25

To celebrate 25 years of the Xbox brand, Microsoft is releasing a new Xbox Series X console in November. It's got Xbox's iconic green shell, in a transparent colour, and it comes with a controller to match. No word on if the controller will be sold separately, though hopefully it will.

"Raiders of the North" DLC For Age of Empires IV

Age of Empires IV is getting a new expansion. Raiders of the North seems to be themed around Vikings, as you take your titular empire to the titular north.

Minecraft Dungeons II

A new Micranft Dungeons games is coming! Take up to 3 friends and face blocky menaces in this dungeon crawler set in the Minecraft universe.

Magicians: The Devil's Deal

A new first person game where you play as a magician who made a deal with the Devil. Defeat your former apprentices who sold you to the Red Guy, so you can have a chance of getting your soul back. Game may be a roguelike, but it's not explicitly stated.

Valor Mortis

A soulslike from the creators of Ghostrunner, set in a messed-up version of the Napoleonic wars. The game was announced a while ago, but we finally got release date: September 24th.

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse

The acclaimed Metroidvania series, Castlevania (half of the genre is named after it after all) is back, starring new hero, Rose Belmont, releases October 15.

Persona 6

Remember in our Persona 4 Revival article how we said you'll have to wait for 6? Well, Atlus has heard us, as the announcement for Persona 6 dropped not long after. No gameplay or release date, all we got was a few shots of a graveyard.

Spyro: A Realm Beyond

A new Spyro game got announced at today's Xbox Showcase. We don't have much to go off, aside from the fact that a new villain will seemingly challenge the titular dragon, likely in a far-away land. We also got the shortest glimpse of gameplay, and it seems like Spyro is a lot faster than in the past.

Not counting the Reignited Trilogy, this marks the first new game for Spyro since 2008 (The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon), and the first one in the mainline series since 2004 (Spyro: A Hero's Tail).

Clockwork Revolution

Clockwork Revolution is a game that we previously knew the existence of, but not much of what it actually was or when it would come out. We finally have an answer to the latter though, which is that it's flying in 2027 and as an Xbox console exclusive.

We've also been introduced to characters Ulysses, Nazim, Erasmus, Hazel, and Anne Fucking Darrow.

Persona 4: Revival

Persona 4 Revial is a remake of the 4th mainline Persona game. Re-experience the adventure with modern changes to the UI, inspired by Persona 5, and quell your appetite as you wait for the 6th entry.

Bad Magpie

The Xbox Showcase just concluded a while ago, and among the numerous AAA titles, we had a couple of interesting-looking indie games. First up is Bad Magpie, an isometric adventure game where you control the titular bird as you explore various environments and... uhm, set them on fire. Or is that just the flowers?

Vivarium

The second game is Vivarium, an adventure game animated like old 80s anime. The game has a very cozy feel to it, though there are some spooky scenes in the trailer. And all of it takes place in a bottle with a tiny tree that's resting on a stool, the titular vivarium. In terms of gameplay, it seems to be a point-and-click adventure with an isometric camera.

Sometimes games are an excuse for some developers to show their odd sense of humor, and that's certainly the case with Join Us, a satirical game about recruiting members into your cult.
