League of Legends Classic Goes Live in Patch 26.15

Riot Games has confirmed that League of Legends Classic will be going live in Patch 26.15 (July 29), and honestly, we can't wait to dust off some old-school strategies. The studio teased the news directly, asking players which OG builds they're most looking forward to firing up once League Classic is live.

What Is League Classic?

Riot is billing this as a return to the League of Legends of old, with the original Summoner's Rift, original gameplay design, original champions, items and all the insanity that they were.

The community will apparently also get to vote to help shape the direction of League of Legends Classic, which, sounds a bit like how Old School RuneScape works.

The nostalgia levels are silly. Riot has brought back old icons and interface details into the modern client. BEEP BOOP!

All you need is to download the modern League of Legends client and then on July 29, it's time to play! If your account needs to be recovered, Riot can help with that.

When Does League Classic Go Live?

According to Riot, League Classic arrives with Patch 26.15 on July 29, 2026.

Riot capped off the tease by turning the question back to the community:

Any OG builds you're looking forward to playing when League Classic is live in Patch 26.15?

  • I am really looking forward to this release. I haven't played League of Legends proper in... has to be 2020 and only briefly when everyone was home during early covid lockdowns. The nostalgia I feel from the old UI is hilarious and I just love how jank the game was back then.

The whole voting thing is interesting though. Is Riot seriously going to let us bring back other champions or make actual changes to the game? Seems wild and I trust the playerbase to go for the memes if they can and make the mode just unplayable or feel too modern; Who is the jerk who's going to say remove runes?
