Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass Part 1: Bubbly Basin Dives Into Nintendo Switch 2

Get your swimsuits ready, because the Pokémon Company group has launched Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass - Part 1: Bubbly Basin for Nintendo Switch 2. It's the first of a three-part paid DLC, and it plunges the game beneath the waves with a brand-new underwater town where you can discover more Pokémon, build new furniture, prepare new food, and more. On top of that, the free Pokémon Pokopia version 2.0.0 software update is now available to everyone who plays the game.

We've been waiting to see where this cozy Pokémon builder would go next, and "straight under the sea" is exactly the kind of answer we love.

What's in the Bubbly Basin expansion?

Bubbly Basin is a town where Pokémon live beneath the sea, and there's a lot to sink into. Here's what the first part of the Expansion Pass adds:

  • Buildings that float at different levels underwater using buoyant blocks

  • Help from Pokémon with the Generate specialty to power bubble machines or activate streetlights

  • The ability to grow watermelons with the assistance of Pokémon with the Water specialty

  • New outfits, new furniture, and more Pokémon to discover

  • A power-up for the move Surf

  • A buildable Sharpedo submarine that lets you make a room reminiscent of a Secret Base

That Sharpedo submarine gives you a personal underwater hideaway that takes us back to the Secret Bases of past Pokémon games.

What does the version 2.0.0 free update add?

You don't need the paid DLC to get in on some of the aquatic action. The version 2.0.0 free software update introduces the Mythical Water-type Pokémon Manaphy, who teaches you a newly added move: Dive.

With Dive, you can expand your underwater explorations, swim alongside Water-type Pokémon, and build underwater structures - a fittingly big addition for a Pokémon game that's finally taking the plunge.

There are also other small quality of life updates, so go get your game patched and dive back into Pokopia!
