Grab your snorkel! The Pokémon Company has confirmed that Part 1 of the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass, Bubbly Basin, is diving onto Nintendo Switch 2 on August 5. The reveal came alongside a fresh trailer showing off the underwater features fans can look forward to, plus a first look at what is coming in Part 2 later this year.
What is in Part 1: Bubbly Basin?
Part 1 drops players into a brand new underwater town called Bubbly Basin. It is a submerged space packed with Pokémon-powered activities, letting you lean on your team's specialties to keep the town running.
Grow watermelons with the help of Pokémon that have the Water specialty
Power bubble machines or activate streetlights using Pokémon with the Generate specialty
Discover more Pokémon to meet and befriend
Unlock new outfits
Get a power-up for the move Surf
Whip up smoothies, a newly added prepared food
Players can also traverse a hole in the sea floor to explore the deep sea shrouded in darkness, following glowing coral through the gloom alongside their Pokémon.
How does building work underwater?
Building reaches a new depth in Bubbly Basin thanks to buoyant blocks, which let you create structures that are only possible underwater, floating at different levels. If you want a cozy hideaway, you can also build a Sharpedo submarine to make a room that feels like a Secret Base.
What is coming in Part 2?
Scheduled for release in late 2026, Part 2 leans into style. Players will be able to dress up alongside their favourite Pokémon by wearing accessories, and there will be more furniture pieces and Pokémon to find. The Pokémon Company says more details on Part 2 will be revealed in the future.
What does the free Ver 2.0.0 update add?
You do not need the paid DLC to get in on some of the fun. Available to everyone who owns Pokémon Pokopia from August 5, the Ver 2.0.0 free software update lets players learn the move Dive from Manaphy. Once learned, you will be able to swim alongside Water-type Pokémon and build underwater.
One thing to note before you go diving into Bubbly Basin: to begin Part 1, you will need to complete the request "Raise the environment level!" in Bleak Beach, and you will need to learn the newly added Dive move included in the free update.
Feebas Event in August
A new event is coming in August that allows you to collect Prism Scales and to earn event-only items. The event begins on August 13 and ends on August 28. Note that only towns with repaired Pokemon Centers (and not Bubbly Basin) will have the event active.

By purchasing the expansion pass, you can also claim a new recipe that is a Ditto-themed wallpaper and flooring pattern!
Additionally, purchasing the expansion pass will send an email to your Nintendo account with a code to claim 30x Pokemetal.
