Clickbait Tycoon's Early Access Roadmap Revealed

Hey all! Robert here from FrostyVoid Games and today I wanted to share with you our roadmap on getting to 1.0. With our release of Clickbait Tycoon just a day away (August 21, 2026), it's important to me that we communicate the goals for early access. Too many games push themselves into early access without much of a plan, and I'm not a big fan of that. Early access should be for games that are complete enough that they are enjoyable and are just missing those finishing touches, usually content, to make it a truly grand experience.

So today, I'm unveiling the curtain on what you can expect from Clickbait Tycoon over the next 6-12 months as we make improvements to the game to create an incredible incremental experience.

Please note that timelines will almost certainly shift. The goals in mind are to get to 1.0 within 6 months of our early access launch, however, as with all projects, timelines are almost never followed perfectly.

Game Update Philosophy

Patch numbers matter. They convey to a user the importance of an update. While we're in early access, the second number of our patches (like the 5 in 0.5.0) indicates a major update and the third number is being used for minor updates, typically bug fixes. This will change once we get into the full release where major updates are going to use the first number.

  • Major updates are updates which will primarily contain new systems.

  • Minor updates will contain everything else which is bug fixes, content, and events.

Once we move into the full release of Clickbait Tycoon, you can expect the following:

  • Major updates for new systems.

  • Minor updates for content additions.

  • Patch updates for bug fixes.

During early access, we will be shipping out game updates fairly frequently to address bugs, instead of waiting to fix many bugs and pushing out one single patch, you can expect multiple, smaller patches. I'd prefer that we deliver updates to you as quickly as we can.

During the full launch, we will be moving to a slightly more stable approach to game updates, utilizing a beta branch and fixing issues on the beta branch for a period of around a week to ensure stability before pushing them out the main game. That's not to say early access won't be stable, it's very important to myself and the team that we aren't ruining the experience. All builds are played internally before we release them on Steam and we have a full suite of tests we run against additions so we can avoid regressions in our patches.

A Note on Player Feedback

Feedback from the community on the game is awesome. We will be taking everyone's feedback during our entire development process and seeing where we can make improvements to the game because of it. Our grand plans for the full vision of Clickbait Tycoon will be realized, but even we don't know how it's going to end up because of your creativity.

Anyone who wants to report bugs and leave us feedback and ideas are welcome to do so on our Discord server and over on our realm on the Out of Games website.

Patch 0.6.0

Our first major game update is coming in September and it is titled, THE RPG UPDATE.

We're going to be vague about this, but there is going to be a lot more going on with our questing system in the game and you can expect for more engagement in this part of the game.

Patch 0.7.0

Our second major update is coming in October and is titled, THE NEWSROOM UPDATE.

An additional minor update is planned for later in October that will be bringing a Halloween event to the game. In the event that 0.7.0 is not ready for the October release window, the Halloween update will instead by delivered in a 0.6.X minor patch; It is not tied into the newsroom update so they don't have to go out together.

Patch 0.8.0

Our third major update will arrive in November and is focused on our narrative. Who would have thought a game about writing would actually need to have some writing done?

An additional minor update is planned for early December which will bring forth a holiday event in the game which will last for a few weeks.

Patch 0.9.0

Our fourth and final update for 2026 is scheduled for December.

Coming later in the month, we will be focusing on new, more challenging ways of enjoying the game. The best way to describe this without giving away our plans is to think about a New Game + mode.

Patch 0.10.0

Our lips are sealed entirely on this but this will be the first update arriving in 2027 and our last major update before the full release of the game.

1.0 And Beyond

Where we go with Clickbait Tycoon after the full release is anyone's guess. The goal is that the game will be feature complete at that point and the only thing we'll really need to worry about is any additional balance refinements we want to make and to fix bugs that pop up.

With that said though, any new features we can brainstorm that would be improvements to the game, we'll be exploring and looking to keep making the game as great as it can be.
