Happy Monday!
If you missed the retrospective on recent downtime, it's a good read! These patch notes will include some updates that went out over the past couple of days as well.
Core
General
- Upgraded our Django framework to 5.2.x from 5.0.x.
- Upgraded from Python 3.12 to 3.13.
- Note: Expecting to upgrade to 3.14 within the next 6 months based on support. Usually we wait around a year to upgrade, but the 3.14 move looks trivial for us. This update of the interpreter comes with some nice speed updates.
- Disabled account signup.
- Note: This has been disabled for over a month now. There are plans to enable it once more once we have better anti-bot protections in place.
Articles
- Recent Articles has been renamed to Related Articles.
Hearthstone
- Added support for Across the Timeways.
- Added additional links in the footer for expansion pages.
Performance
General
- Reduced site-wide database queries for big gains.
- Many backend tweaks to improve performance.
- Homepage now better caches threads for improved load times.
- Events now cache on the site to prevent as many database hits.
Hearthstone
- All pages that have Hearthstone cards on them are now faster.
- Note: More details in the linked above retrospective.
Bug Fixes
General
- Avatars now appear again on threads and comments.
- Note: They may still be cache broken in some places, this will resolve itself over time.
- Removed Amazon Coins references.
- Amazon has gotten rid of Amazon Coins.
Articles
- Hot Articles will now only appear if they exist.
Hearthstone
- Fixed missing expansion icons.
- Deck and Card listings now correctly have class icons appearing pretty on filters.
