Legit it makes it so an inherent thing you can't stop kills you.This is not okay it should never have been made. its good to see some of the league balance team made it over to runeterra to already ruin a pretty fun game. Seriously how did it make iot past playtesting

I have been playing for about 2 hours and I am having a hard time understanding the attack/defending and what goes towards damaging the nexus

For example:

I have a 5/5 and I am attacking a 2/3

My 5 attack will beat the opposing players 3 defense with +2 spare.

Does the +2 above the opposing player's card not deal damage to nexus?


To confirm with the scenario above.  Is the only way to deal damage to the enemy nexus requires you to have more cards on the field than the opposing team so the "extra" cards attack the nexus directly with the attack/defense only localized to the opposing card?

I had the opportunity to play Legends of Runeterra today, I only got through the tutorial and a handful of games with a deck I built myself. I didn't play very much, but I am going to share my opinion regardless. 

Pros

The gameplay was pretty fun, it was a nice mix of Hearthstone and Magic: the Gathering. The game moved pretty fast, and there wasn't a whole lot to keep track of on the board. But it was also very strategic and complex with the "instant speed" spells and the way attacking/blocking worked. I think it will be very popular amongst people who thinks that there isn't enough strategy in Hearthstone, but also aren't invested enough to play Magic:Arena. 

The game also seems very F2P friendly. When I first started I only had 20 cards from each region, so I couldn't really do much to build a deck. But I got rewards pretty fast. After just about every single game I played I got some cards. I am sure the rewards will slow down after I have played for some time, but Riot games seem to be very friendly to F2P players from what I have heard, and I don't imagine that Legends of Runeterra will be any exception.

One thing about the game that struck me as odd, and I am not quite sure yet if this is a pro or a con, is that you don't have an avatar or anything to represent yourself. All you get to see of your opponent is their username, and the champions they are using in the beginning of combat. I kind of like it because different skins really just feels like a way for the company to make some money by feeding into all of our inner collectors, and social features such as emotes or a chat system really just feels like a super convenient way to BM your opponent. 

Cons

One big thing that I really don't like about the game is that there is almost zero indication on a card as to which region it belongs to. There is a tiny symbol in the center of the bottom of the card, but that is it. No colored border or anything this both makes it hard to associate a cad to a region, but it also makes it hard to associate a region with the cards. Regions already have their own colors, so why not try and decorate the cards with their region, so that at first glance players can know exactly what region a card belongs to.

Another thing that bugs me is how the cards are worded, it is sometimes difficult to figure out what a card does. I don't like how the card texts are in first person, I guess they were trying to make the cards feel more alive or something? But it makes it weird to read. I would prefer something more professional sounding, so instead of saying "Level Up: I have damaged the enemy nexus" it would say "When this unit damages the enemy nexus Level Up".

Another thing that could use some small improvements is the UI, not just in the home menu and when flipping about your collection, but also when playing the game. One thing that Hearthstone does better than any other digital card game out there is their super friendly, easy to use, animated, colorful, and lively user interface. This is one of the biggest reasons, if not the biggest reason, the game is so popular. It is simple and easy to navigate, you can go to your collection from just about anywhere, and all of the game modes are in the very center of the screen. Legends of Runeterra's UI isn't nearly as easy, to start a game you first have to select a deck, and only then can you see the "start a match" screen, and you can change the mode you are playing on with tiny buttons there.

Also during the game everything feels a little cramped. Your hand, mana, and board were kind of smushed into one end of the screen to make room for the HUGE combat area. The mana being off to the side is okay, but I do think it would make things a little easier to keep track of if they got rid of the combat board and gave more room for your units on the field. You could see which creatures are attack with a large orange arrow or something along those lines like there is in MTG:A, or perhaps you could simple 'fade' the none-attacking creatures, or you could do something to make the attacking creatures visible without having to devote so much space to it. 

Summary

I think it is a very fun game with a lot of potential. The gameplay is great and they hit just the right middle point in terms of complexity. But there are a couple of "quality of life" things that could make the game so much more appealing. Things like a easier way to identify the region of a card, or a smoother UI, it is things like this that can change a boring game into an addictive one. I hope that the game receives updates to the interface and graphics so that it can play a lot smoother and be more attractive overall.

I want to play now, but the game seems to mock me. I can't get into action because of the "Service error" bug. Is there any solution except sending a ticket to Riot?

I'd like to hear from people who participated in closed beta - how close / far from complete collection do you feel it seemed possible to be as f2p, or how much of it can you hope to get with your estimation of time needed.

How did this random Champion in Vaults 10+ in closed beta helped that, and in contrast not having it would hurt collecting cards going forward. Thanks.

Thing is, if I can't get considerably better collection % over HS, which of course had a head start of years getting cards, I don't see myself breaking the time commitment of past for something that doesn't get better elsewhere.

I know there are different factors, enjoying gameplay / deckbuilding in broadest possible sense, but if I see myself enjoying both, this would be the decisive factor.

Hey guys, this might sound stupid but I just received an e-mail from Riot saying: 

"Beta Season officially begins January 24, but since you’ve already pre-registered, you’ll be able to play the Legends of Runeterra open beta a day early. Access will be granted starting at 11:00 AM PST on January 23 and roll out over the next few hours. "

It doesn't say anywhere on which platform that is. I have pre-registered on my Android device. Does the open beta start for the PC only or also for Android?

Hello Guys !

The Open Beta begins in less than 10 hours for players who pre-registered and who played in previews so I wanted to write some advices here for who couldn't follow news and couldn't play in previews.

Firstly, here is the countdown if you want to check how much times left to release.

LoR Early Launch

First things first;

Don't forget it is open beta state - There might be more aggressive tweaks/nerfs/buffs on cards so be cautious to craft cards and be cautious to choose your starting Region.

Firstly, You will play tutorial and Prologue and game will give you these starter decks;

If you want, you can build some decks with these cards but for some time before some rewards, They will be ok while you are learning the game's mechanics.

After your prologue, it probably chooses Noxus for your region. If you want to change it, you can change it in regions tab.

Choose your region according to what you like to play. I mean, The Archetypes. Don't choose it for its power in my opinion because there might be some aggressive tweaks in a month because it is beta. If you want to go for aggro, you may choose Noxus or Shadow Isles, If you like combo style more, try Ionia or Piltover&Zaun, there are some fancy combo opportunities in Shadow Isles and Demacia (Fiora)as well but the other two has more resources for it, If you like control you can choose Shadow Isles or Freljord, Midrange is best with Demacia but all of the regions have great Midrange canditates except Piltover&Zaun, and lastly if you want ramp style Freljord will be your choice.

Also try to get 8 level in every region instead of focusing only one. There are Champion Capsules as a reward at 8th level for every region. It will also help you to collect some rares and commons of every region and you might build more efficient decks.

After you choose your region to start, it is time to play !

Weekly Vaults will be your main source to collect cards with your regional rewards and it will give you Expedition token if you reach 10+ level. With Open Beta, There will be also a free Expedition token at start. Don't forget to play your Expeditions with your token because up to 3 Expedition runs, you will get 1x Champion wildcard. Weekly, it will give you 3x Champion Wildcards if you play all. There will be no rewards unfortunately if you play your 4+ Expedition run.

Weekly Vaults will be reset at Tuesdays so play as much as you can until tuesday to be able to open at least level 10 Vault. Maximum Vault level is 13 but doing just daily quests will give you 10 level Vault according to what Riot said us.

You will be given experience points also for your losses until 20 lose and wins will give you experience until 30 wins. If you reach the cap, Play some AI games because AI games will also give you experience points and their experience points are seperated from versus player experience points. I really liked this because it makes us more happy to try some of our shitty decks on AI and we will get rewarded to doing so!

It will be like;

PvP - 30 wins - 20 Losses

PvAI - 20 wins - 10 losses

There will be no experience points after this moment. Only extra experience poins different from these are Expedition run's bonus experience so;

I recommend you to play all(3) Expeditions until Tuesday to be able to collect champion cards. It will be also wiser even you don't like draft mode because it costs only 4000k Shards which Champion Wildcards is also same cost and it is guaranteed to get a champion card even you lose your drafts and Expedition runs will give you bonus experience points when you finish them.

If you will buy wildcards with coins, don't hurry to craft some champions. Wait for a bit, because;

1- You might regret after a while

2- You might get what you want from Capsules (i'm saying this but there is no-duplicate rule in Runeterra for Champion cards and Epic Cards. The reason I'm saying this, You might want to save those Wildcards for future.

3- If you can be patient for 4 months and you are planning to buy all of the wildcards as you can in next weeks, you can save 48 champion wildcards for next expansion and that means total of 16 x3 champion wildcards. You can craft whichever champion you want from next expansion ! You just need to be patient and play like a f2p player at start while you are stacking those wildcards. Be Patient !

And don't take it serious but don't craft Teemo at start !

No, I'm serious ! Don't do that !

I am saying this because almost all people are planning to play hyper/normal aggro at first day and all of Teemo decks are vulnerable against aggro sadly except Full Elusive deck without puffcap cards.

There will be also some account statistics with deck tracker if you open an account on Mobalytics. Noone tried the decktracker yet so noone knows how it will be but it is the only one I know.

Do you agree/disagree? As I mentioned in the video, I know there's a ton of arguments for Shadow Isles wrecking every other region, but I'm convinced that's not the case. Also, what about giving Noxus the highest combo rating? Does ANYONE else see the potential I see here!?

Hello folks. I'm much interested in this game but didn't join closed beta, so I'll start with Open. Got a couple of questions :

- Is Karma any good ? From what I saw she's the closest from my favorite playstyles (random value generation such as HS burgle rogue, ramp decks such as most shadowverse Dragoncraft decks, midrange/control decks). I don't expect top tier stuff, I just wanna know if I can mess with her without expecting abysmal results.

- Same question for Jinx (Self Discard mechanic, mostly. And madness. Because eh. Madness.).

- How is the ingame currency earned ? I hate both HS and Shadowverse systems because they tend to focus on winning, which can really quickly get infuriating when you're playing a slow deck (also often harder to play than the faster counterparts).

- Can you expect to build a full deck within reasonable playtime ? I usually play 2 class at most in a CCG (since LoR is "dual classes" with regions I expect to play from 3 to 4 of them). I'd prolly be satisfied with 2 serious deck and 3-4 meme decks.

Alright, so I'm actually on my 4th region review, now! Ionia is definitely pretty strong compared to the Noxus post I had posted last week considering they have tools like 'Deny'. BUT....do you guys think Deny is overrated!? Personally, I think it is due to it not being about to counter burst spells.

I do have another video up that specifically addresses Deny, but it is also mentioned in this Ionia review. Let me know what you think! =)

I'm in the process of slowly releasing a bunch of content on each individual region reviewing their strengths in various categories such as spells vs. champions vs. followers and I'd love feedback from as many people as possible! =)

So what does everyone think about Noxus? Also, do you agree with the combo rating that I had for the region? Personally, I think the Crimson archetype has by far the best combo potential of any region thus far!

P.S. My mental estimate is end of Jan for the next playtest. I have literally no basis beyond the cryptic 'early Q1' they've offered, so when I'm inevitably wrong I will be even more disappointed.
