Post Expansion Meta

Straight from the region statistics.

The 3 top decks are turbo thralls, LeBlanc sivir, and pirate aggro.

So typically when we see decks with high winrates like these but relatively low play rates.

The meta is very healthy.

While these decks might statistically be doing well right now, people aren't really playing them in any number to be concerned of.

It also means nobody has attempted to counter these decks yet, meaning what we are really seeing is early climbers blitzing ladder before people can adjust 

Other good news signs, Azir Irelia is down to a 50/50 winrate which sounds right given its supposed to be a "combo" deck.

Honestly, still feeling very optimistic about things overall.

    • I don't really understand why we would start a meta discussion on day 3 of the expansion where several strategies weren't tested yet. There was simply not enough time yet for a meta to come up. 

      I would guess that we see a meta emerging in 1 - 2 weeks and that it will be midrangeish. But that is pure speculation.

      The only thing I noticed is that targon's popularity went down ...

      Which is good given that that means less Hush to stop my Riven Vi otk setups

  • Yeah its interesting how dependent most targon players were on snake.

    Lulu into snake, the fangs into snake.

    So when it got turned into a 1/1 targon players just noped out of the region.

    I think thats bit of an over reaction. It was never meant to be a tempo region in the first place.

      Agreed, Targon decks needed The Serpent and the Fangs to deal with early game threats and both them got hit. That's a good thing, regions who have powerful late game should not have access to good early game.

      I know you probably meant Zoe but that made me think of Lulu/Taric. Since Taric got buffed alongside Mountain Sojourners I thought there'd be more people playing it but... has anybody actually seen Taric decks or just Support decks in general? It's been 3 days but I still haven't managed to find one. I'm curious as to how well it's doing.

      • I fought a couple of Lulu/Shen but zero Taric.

      • Support tribal will proably never be a good deck because of the strong interdependence of the units played in the deck. A support wants you to have at least 3 units around that then also have to be ready to attack. 

        That Mountain Sojourners got buffed is nice to have but won't turn the tides for support decks.

        However: I have seen a lot of Taric so far, played by myself :) I have been playing Taric Garen buffs and it works well. It resolves around buff cloning and gaining a ton of extra attacks to make the temporary buffs really count.

        If you are interested i could share the list later on.

            There you go. There are spots debateable about this list but that was what I found to be working the best.

              Played a bunch of games (all in Casual though). Firstly, I tried your version first. The deck is pretty dead if you don't draw a follower early on and I feel like that happened a bit too often where they could just remove my Mountain Goat or Sparklefly. I wanted to say I liked the Swiftwing Flight 1-of but I often can't use it very well. Garen's a bit weird because I level him up often but I feel like his stats would sometimes just not be enough. I tried Mountain Sojourners btw, but since you don't have much Supports I dropped it pretty soon. I added more early drops such as Solari Soldier and Zoe.

              The deck is pretty solid though if you draw Taric + Golden Aegis or Out Of The Way, you often just win on the spot when they can't respond or tapped out of mana. Sparklefly is actually cracked because it just heals so much more especially with the combo, and here I was wondering why you weren't running more heals. The spells are fine as is, every single time I change it, I change it back the game after. Definitely has potential but if you brick, you brick way too hard.

        I’ve been experimenting with a Lulu/Pyke deck. I’m trying to experiment on ways outside of Lurk to level up Pyke

        • That's a pretty neat idea tbh, hope it works out. I tried to do it and I think Demacia has to be the way to go with some kind of Fiora/Pyke deck or Targon with the amount of gem creations they have. Pyke's normal stat is just way too weak for the cost tbh, if he was 3 Mana I think he'd be playable outside of Lurk decks, but that will obviously make complications with Lurk decks. Unfortunately, they made an entirely new mechanic for him and that means that it is exclusive to two regions and a separate card pool that hardly interacts with other cards making it incredibly limiting to find clever ways to build it.

          That's like trying to level up Maokai or Nautilus without toss cards, it can be done but it's not worth the trouble. 

  • Yeah Zoe sorry. Honestly, don't pay attention to the meta reports, like I'm absolutely slapping with kegs. Mogwai was playing yetis. Things are basically balanced right now so kudos to the devs.

  • I have moderate success with it so far. I’m hoping that they come up with more ways to support Pyke, because he is super interesting. Once you get him going, he’s a beast

  • I can stall other decks and fight them to a standstill but if I get the wrong cards I will be rushed down but I can win about equal with it. Still no idea what to do with Dragons vs Echo maybe kill him before he levels. I am happy to see a lot of different deck types. 

  • Killing Echo isn’t the problem. Hell killing him a second time in a round often isn’t a problem but I don’t have an answer for the third time I have to kill Echo and company in the same round

    • Sometime your opponent will get the high roll and draw multiple Chronobreak, there isn't much you can do in these situation if you don't have Deny or Nopeify! but those situation are the exception not the rule, most of the time they will get one Chronobreak and that's going to be it.

  • This is the deck I’m currently testing. When you lose it can be rough, but when you win it is quick and brutal.

    • How's Flurry of Fists in that list? I imagine it'd be kinda bad since Double Attack is a pretty meh keyword if there's no Overwhelm. Like it attacks once fast and if it even attacks a second time, it probably just dies. Though, it does give cards like Rivershaper Quick Attack for value so I can imagine when it'd be pretty good, but Rush is usually better in my mind.

        I like it because I can pair it off with Sonic Wave and Redfin Hammersnout; which give Challenger and Vulnerable. This forces enemies to block with stronger enemies, if they can block at all. It also allows Pyke to level up twice as fast.
