MTG Fixing the f2p model! Huge updaside rewards.

Progression

Let’s look at these changes in practice:

  • If you complete your quests and earn all your weekly wins, you’ll be able to reach Level 67 by the end of set, even if you only play once a week (before any codes or events). Previously, you’d only be able to reach Level 32.
  • If you play more than once per week, you’ll be able to reach at least Level 74 by the end of a set (before any codes or events). Previously, the minimum level you could be expected to reach was 46.

  • Well that's certainly a huge increase compared to before!

I really still don't know how I feel about battle passes in card games. It's certainly a cool way to incentivize people to login while spending money since it is just too good of a deal, but I don't know, I feel like it can contribute to more burnout. I burned out of Apex Legends before I finished my battlepass and felt bad I was 20 levels away so I bought them. Now I'm not even playing season 2 because I feel like I'll be missing out if I don't buy the pass but I don't have the time to complete it. I'm in a similar boat with Magic where I'm playing much more Hearthstone atm so the pass almost doesn't make sense, maybe.

Regardless, good on them for actually hearing the community.

I agree. The battle pass is just too much temptation and forces you to play a lot more Fear of Missing Out on cosmetics. They said that they will remove the purchase of levels from the in your face temptation. Magic has provided a much needed break from HS.

  • Now they need to bring it to tablet or mobile

  • I'm going to be drafting a lot to try to earn the gems for the battle pass, so I doubt I'll buy this seasons, but maybe a season or two away.

Unfortunately, MTG Arena can never be brought to mobile - you and your opponent can have dozens of cards with looong texts on the board both at the same time, it is not possible to create a mobile design for this mess.

        You're wrong.

All the Magic Duels games were brought to mobile. Elder Scrolls Legends is mobile. Eternal is mobile.

They're all similarily designed to MTG Arena, which they've already said that's WHY they used Unity to create it. They eventually want to bring it to every platform.

  • Yeah, the design team is willing to communicate and listen. I started playing MTGA right after the official open beta launch and i have to admit that they have improved soo much. They have even admited that they are wrong and reverted some changes a couple of times, which after playing hs for so many years, it was a breath of fresh air.

Superior game, superior design team that is willing to listen and the fact that there is still huge room for improvement almost guarantee a bright future for MTGA as long as they remain on the current course. Now if they could improve the shittiest launcher in the gaming history...that, that would be great! :D

Finally a true card game and a true competitor for hs. I hope now the lousy blizzard improves their game. After investing so many years in hs it still stinks that i cannot play more than 2 days before boring my self to death and dropping it for months. They turn a easy but fun and enganging card game into a braindead mobile game with no  new features since 2015....

There are plans to bring it to mobile and maybe it will not work out, but it is being attempted.

In one game you often have:

8-10 different lands (like 2x forest, 3x swamp, 3 different types of multilands)

3-10 different creatures and tokens with enchantments on them

        1-5 enchantments

        1-5 artifacts

        1-5 planeswalkers

        deck

        graveyard

        Your opponent have the same

How will you fit this on screen while being able to clearly distuingish between cards?
