Need to see what the nature spells will be, I'm assuming Earth Shock will be a nature spell, that's obvious enough. Maybe Tidal Wave too?

It is difficult to judge this cards power level since we don't know exactly which spells will be "nature". But I imagine in general a lot of Shaman spells will be nature spells which should make this pretty powerful.

Until we start seeing more nature spells (my guess is that Lightning Bolt would be one of them), this card is only a 4 mana 5/4 that only bares its rubber teeth.

Is there any reason to prefer this over Imprisoned Phoenix, which while being slightly less impactful, is at least a guaranteed 2 turn act. Maybe Zap! would come back to standard, and if its a nature spell, then this card may be better than it appears.

Spells will have tribes now, like minions do. Nature is one of those tribes.

Well this could be very strong depending on what spells will be Nature-Spells. So far i think this could be very strong.

So assuming that all Shaman spells are nature by default (not regarding special cases) this seems pretty good.

We've seen the huge difference between 1 and 2 spell damage before and this comes with 3 for a very moderate cost.

Unless all of Shaman's Burn spells aren't qualified as nature (where would Lava Burst fall actually?) we basically have a reliable finisher

    I tried having fun once.

    It was awful.

Really hard card to judge right now. But it will probably see play in spell damage shaman? turn 4 Bru'kan into turn 5 Ras Frostwhisper seems realy good, as long as Ras Frostwhisper and Bru'kan actually synergise together. Now that i think about it, how will Ras Frostwhisper work after those tribes are introduced? Seems pretty hard to make him good for both shaman and mage. Let's hope they make Ras Frostwhisper work with ANY spell damage, tribal or not. IF they do that then that turn 4 Bru'kan into turn 5 Ras Frostwhisper seems really good.

    Standard: Probably spell damage shaman.

Wild: EVEN costed, and EVEN shaman likes totems. So it probably won't see that much play. If only it were ODD Costed, because ODD Shaman would have LOVED it. (ODD Shaman is more of a burn deck with lots of spell damage stuff, for anyone that's wondering.)

RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.

I think this is a very strong card. A lot of shaman spells should end up being nature and +3 spell damage so cheap is strong. Be a nice finisher in an aggressive shaman. Or a combo piece for an otk. With spells being retroactively I'm sure he'll be a powerful tool in wild too.

If it had those cost and stats and Spell Damage +3, it would be OP as fuck. Since it's limited to only affecting a subset of spells, maybe it will just be good. Right now the only Nature spell we know is Chain Lightning (Rank 1), so we'll need to see more to say how good this is.

So right away I'm thinking this is a mini-Malygos (the OG of course). If there are enough cheap nature spells that can go face, this card has OTK potential.

I mean it sorta depends on the spells. That said this already works with Lightning Bolt as a method to burst for 12 with two copies.

My gut feel tells me this won't work with Ras Frostwhisper as the card works on generic spell damage buff will this is nature spell damage buff.

That said this is still a very strong card as most shaman spells are nature. This can turn Lightning Storm into a Flamestrike, Lightning Bolt into a Fireball, and Tidal Wave into a 16 health swing. The stats are also vanilla stats for a 4 drop, so dropping this on curve for tempo doesn't feel too bad in a pinch.

Losing things like Lava Burst in standard hurts a little, but overall I love this card!  A 4 mana +3 spell damage to the spell type that Shaman is mostly going to be running anyway?!  I'm excited for this card and the coming year, but this card actually gets me more excited for the reinforcements it gives to my Wild Burn Shaman deck.

Quick!  Someone give me something clever to write here.

A little boring for a legendary, but I imagine it will pack a bit of a punch when included in a shaman deck with a lot of face damage nature spells.

I think this will see play in Wild, but not in a meta deck. I've got a feeling that a lot of the spells already used in Malygos Shaman will be Nature spells.

This looks really powerful. Most of shaman's spells have the nature school so this is more or or less a 4/5/4 with spell damage +3 which is insane.

Disclaimer: if the above is factually incorrect or complete rubbish it is definitely both intentional and  comedy genius.

Interesting but you need somehow to be able to cast a lot of spells together with this to get some real value. So maybe some deck that wants to close the game with burn?

Burn Shaman would have been so broken if it was vanilla Spell Damage, so I'm happy it's Nature instead. That being said, not so fresh in terms of interaction or anything, meh.

First glance it's too situational and depends on the support nature spells get. I believe that wild will see it more often than standard.

    Not fancy, but seems powerful!

Nice cost, good synergy with old spells that gain the Nature tag (Tidal Surge, Lightning Storm,...), and the Mini-Set will have a bigger focus on Spell Schools. If Shaman will be competetive, it's quite likely we'll see some of this guy!

If this card sticks, or is cheated out, or generated randomly at the perfect time, it could enable some fantastic OTK combos. Even if you know it'll be removed, buffing up the damage of a Lightning Storm to 6 in the late game is still very, very useful. Regardless, I'm sure it'll be a core card in any Nature Shaman builds.

Started playing HS in May, 2015. The bad news: I missed the excitement of 'Naxx out?' and GvG. The good news: I never met an Undertaker.

Bru'kan is clearly super powerful, and between him and Imprisoned Phoenix you might be able to set up some crazy OTK turns for Shaman if they get the right Nature spells. That said, the only Nature face damage in the Core set is Lightning Bolt, so even with 2x Phoenix in play, you're only looking at 20 damage max burst with that combo (though there are some ways you could probably eke out another 6 damage with Rune Dagger and 2x Novice Zapper). Ultimately Bru'kan is probably better as a way to burst down/finish your opponent after solid midrange play.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. Will have to wait and see the how useful spell school specific damage will be, but design-wise it's very meh for me.

+3 is a lot of extra damage and I could guess Shaman will get a couple of Nature spells to make use of him. Could be a key card in OTK  och Spell damage decks.

I dont like the design since legendary minions for me are crazy minions and here we have a boring spell damage. BUT this have the strengh of a legendary minion since it will allow otk or powerfull clear at a not expensive cost.

Even without seeing what all spells are considered Nature, we can already deduce that Shaman has quite a few Nature spell. With that said, making a Spell Damage Shaman that only uses Nature spells might not be too difficult. Most burst-y Shaman spells are already Nature anyway.

I read this and thought "What is he talking about? Imprisoned Phoenix is a Mage card". Then I found out it's dual-class lol. Never saw a Shaman played it before, thought it's a Mage card.

Anyway, there are no other Nature burst damage (yet), but some vanilla spells like Serpentshrine Portal, Molten Blast, Dunk Tank. These probably won't be updated as Nature spell, yet they can still benefit from the spell damage of Imprisoned Phoenix. Definitely OTK doable.

Hard to evaluate without seeing all Nature spells, but it can serve as a giant board clear with Lightning Storm or as a burst engine with Lightning Bolt (especially with Wandmaker giving you more Lightning Bolts). This flexibility makes me think it will have a very good chance at being a good card.

Interesting card with lots of potential.
However it's probably going to be a late game card. More as a finisher i doubt it will stay long on the board when you play it early.

Targeted spell damage for the specific schools is definitely a nice insight. It allows greater control of targeted spell damage (so we don't get unspecific Maly shenanigans).

At this point I have spent too much money on these games to quit.

Now pass me another pack, and lets see what I pull.

With the risk of repeating what has already been repeated: we need to know which nature spells we will end up with. That said, I can see this being a core card in a burst to death spell deck similar to old malygos decks. Not the biggest fan of OTKs so won't be too happy if I open a legendary which is basically only spell-damage.

There are a lot of spells to be showed, but I think this card will come as a finisher with some Lightning Bolts and heavy spell casting.

The last expansion was for enhancement shaman, now it's elemental turn

Considering the fact that virtually all of shaman's direct damage are gone (aside from Lightning Bolt and maybe Molten Blast as far as possible Nature Spells go), I see this Bru'kan as a control tool more than a pure OTK tool. However, the direct damage cards I said before can provide extra reach for a possible control Shaman for some surprise burst.

Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
    Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906

Very nice stats coupled with a solid spell damage effect in my opinion.

selective spell damage minion, but legendary.

seeing these kinda cards makes me feel like they are not legendary because of how cool they are, but rather than blizz just wants players to run max 1 copy. so, boring card for me.

I will be very surprised if the expansions hold any more Shaman Nature spells that can hit face, for this exact reason.

Just off the top of my head I can already get to 18 face damage from hand in a single turn without any mana discounts or other special setup. I don't think we want that number climbing any higher.

Assuming most shaman spells are of the nature type:

This, +Lightning Bloom +Tidal Wave (assuming it's a nature spell) is a comeback against almost any board. + Dunk Tank is playable by turn 6/8. + Torrent is overkill against any not Deathwing minion. +Tidal Surge is a better Fireball and Holy Light, but leaves you with a minion for the same number of cards. +Lightning Storm is a l[Hearthstone Card (Flamestrike/card] with a drawback and a body. + Molten Blast is a board refill and good removal, but there is no shaman synergy anymore for wide boards. [Hearthstone Card (Serpentshire Portal) Not Found],Stormstrike and Lightning Bolt get better, and Landslide and Chain Lightning (Rank 1) become really boardclears.

So this would be a great card in any controll shaman, giving it the most efficent board clears imaginable. But for such an archetype to develop, there have to be more cards that synergize with these nature spells, or else you have a deck of 20 removals and no win condition. Only 3 of those spells, Lightning Bolt, Molten Blast and Dunk Tank can target face… Or scrap that thought, with some Lightning Blooms thrown in, those cards +Bru'kan are dangerous enough.

We need confirmation, but Dunk Tank and Molten Blast doesn't look as nature spell, Dunk Tank looks tribeless and Molten Blast as fire spell. So that spells doesn't synergize with Bru'kan.

And blizz confirmed more "wide board" sinergy cards for shaman at Barrens set.

Spell Damage +3 is obviously very powerful, but we'll need to see what the rest of the Nature spells to determine if this card is worth running (since so many of Shaman's spells are Nature, it probably will be).

Certainly not the most exciting Legendary, but one that should fit nicely into Shaman decks and give them more options to deal damage.

Super dependant on what spells get released, but I'd be shocked if this doesn't eventually allow for an OTK (even if only in wild)

I like this just for its newness. . . +3 damage for lightning based spells, and maybe water or wind or earth spells as  well. Its utility will of course depend on what spells are in the rotation, and I would imagine that as such, cheap face spells will probably begin and end with Lightning Bolt

As it is, though, I already enjoy playing control shaman with a bunch of board clears, and this guy could help replace Hagatha's Scheme, at least a little bit.

Ole Brukin! I love the art. He's using two axes as lightning rods! That's fitting for his effect, ain't it?

I can't help but imagine that he's about to lay down an epic drum solo, though. Move over, ETC.

    Better call Thrall!

Right now we cant evaluate this card without knowing other card. So this card can be really strong in some combo/OTK deck or it will never find a spot in any deck. I think it's not worty to include this card for just an aoe in some control deck

A true rating will have to wait until the full library of nature spells is revealed. Until then, we just have to look at the big + number and get excited about that.

Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.

Bru'kan has some nifty spells to take advantage of, from Lightning Storm, to Tidal Surge, to the new Chain Lightning (Rank 1). It helps that the cards that support Bru'kan are already playable standalone, and this nature spell damage just helps scale up their effectiveness. The only question I have here is how effective Shaman will be, with its slower archetypes, at winning games with win conditions, as Bru'kan doesn't contribute to a win condition on its own.

    For glory, honor, and gold!

Landslide sounds like a Nature spell. Along with Lightning Storm a good aoe you'll want to run in a deck that includes Bru'kan. Burst potential is limited in Standard with assumably only Lightning Bolt, but scary nonetheless. In Wild, Bru'kan can be a real powerhouse with plenty of OTK potential.

    Arena > Wild > Standard

I really like that the addition of spell schools allowed Blizzard to do something as powerful as this. +3 Spell Damage is very good, and Shaman has a lot of Nature spells to take advantage of the extra damage. Maybe Burn Shaman is thing, or maybe this works in a slower Shaman deck to boost its removal abilities.

Most damaging Shaman spells feel like they're already Nature cards. This seems like a great addition to any Spell Damage Shaman.
