The incremental quest rewards are more powerful than the end reward. By the time you reached the end of the Questline, you will have drawn 14 cards.
Now, the first two parts of the Questline are interesting. For only 1 mana, and drawing 4/5 cards in one turn, you get immediate cost reduction. 4-5 cards in one turn is pretty easy to do with cards like Spectral Sight, the aforementioned Skull of Gul'dan, Chaos Strike, even Consume Magic. Glide will also get immediately progress you to the next stage of the quest and that's not to be overlooked.
Any Tradeable minion is essentially a 1-mana draw, which works really well with this quest, and also keeps your deck full for future cost reductions. There is also some really interesting synergy with Tradeable minions and Auctioneer Jaxon. Triggering Auctioneer Jaxon and discovering a card to draw with a 2 cost reduction could be sneaky.
In all, I think this card will be played, but for the incremental rewards, not the final Demonslayer Kurtrus.
I just want to mention that I thought Thijs' reveal video was one of the funniest reveals since Toast's Hooktusk reveal video.
That aside, drawing 4 cards in a turn isn't too difficult for DH. Drawing 5 is quite a bit harder, and then drawing 6 is a lot harder. But if you've managed to complete the questline, you've already drawn 20 cards and you don't have many left in your deck. The only way I think this is quest will see play is if you run Glide or if you play the OTK DH deck that draws a million cards anyways.
???
Its not looking good. The problem is that the conditions require a whooping 14 cards drawn, and each tier requires drawn cards per turn at 4/5/5 per tier. Which means you cant cumulatively do this, it has to be 4 cards per turn before you can progress at all.
So what's the reward? Your cards drawn cost 2 less from now on...and how many cards you would have left? Maybe 5-7 if you're lucky.
In other words, this quest can only truly fit into a soul deck, which will extend your drawn cards so the conditions aren't literally impossible to accomplish. Even OTK lifesteal dhunter can't accomplish drawing 5 cards per turn without having the god hand.
This is yet again a case where the lower tier reward is literally more useful than the actual reward itself. If you accomplish any of the tiers, the drawn cards get discounted by 1, which isn't really alot, but can decide some matches. Besides which, by the time Kurtrus comes out it's likely that you've drawn all the cards you need and the only way to reload the deck to take advantage of the reward is via something like Glide. That's never a good sign.
Of course, dhunter reveals have been sparse so there might be more ways to do this than it seems. But I'm a little underwhelmed by the reward. My guess is that its in anticipation of some outcast deck because the one card that really benefits from all that cost reduction would be Kor'vas Bloodthorn.
I'm really not sure about this. All those cost reductions will be very powerful, but as others have noted, you're through your whole deck by the time you get the final reward.
If Trading cards counts for draw, this will be easier to accomplish.
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
Honestly, the only way this sees play is if OTK Demon Hunter just really wants the discounts on the first two rewards (and I'm not sure that deck usually draws more than 3 cards per turn).
This feels worse than Supreme Archaeology.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Who cares about Demonslayer Kurtrus? The incremental rewards are good enough already to make this card viable.
Arena > Wild > Standard
Well the Questline is defenitely interesting and most of the time will be played for the early rewards cause once you`ve gotten Kurtrus almost all of your Cards will be drawn. Looks good for OTK - because you want to draw fast and if you get combo pieces cheaper it is even easier to finish the opponent.
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
I feel that if you are going to have a deck with so much card draw you will end up with few cards that actually do something.
I think this will only see play in combo decks since in combos you only need some specific cards to win.
Harder than Supreme Archaeology but worse reward. Nice.
By The Holy Light!
This looks pretty difficult to pull off, even with all the card draw at Demon Hunter's disposal. This will probably be played in a fast deck, and as others have said before me, the incremental rewards alone are enough to make this viable. Cost reductions are still incredibly huge in the game.
I'm also loving the flavor of the card. Kurtrus' final showdown with Anetheron looks really exciting! Too bad Anetheron himself is such a crap card in this expansion...
Unless dh gets something like Plot Twist or something that shuffles back into deck, it is not extremely impactful, but probably still ok to discount some combo pieces

By the time you have finished all the steps you will have drawn more than 2/3s of your deck, making it suicide to complete. And the final reward doesn't even win you the game, it just asks you to draw even more.
But it still may be played just to get one or two discounts from the middle rewards.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
So, if drawing a Soul Fragment counts as completing 2 for the quest then this seems much more playable all of a sudden. Otherwise, the deck would need way more support to function and actually win
This ain't no place for a hero
This will be an interesting questline to work through. Completing all three stages means you have drawn 14 cards plus whatever else gets drawn on turns that don't advance. That half your deck in total already. Unless you are relying on heavy Glide and tradable you won't be left with much to benefit from that 2 mana reduction. As someone who is still holding strong to year old Demon Hunter hate, I'm perfectly fine with this appearing to be less impactful.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
That is a LOT of draw. It isn't impossible to pull off, but dedicating a substantial number of cards in your deck solely to draw... that is going to not go well
Seems like you draw too much of your deck for the reward to be rewarding. Maybe I'm wrong though, the discounts are strong, especially when combined with Skull. Could have some powerful turns with real cheap stuff.
Casual Dragon Cardgame enthusiast.
I had the same train of thought, just noticing how much of your deck would already been drawn before your trigger the final rewards ... It doesn't feels so rewarding to get a discount for your last 4-5 cards (mild exaggeration here)
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Quite bad, you'll have drawn most of your deck by the time you get the final reward. Cheesing it with Soul Fragments just weakens the intermediary rewards. Might be worth it in OTK DH for the intermediary rewards but I doubt it.
Demonslayer Kurtrus should have at least come with taunt or rush. If you are about to die, he is unplayable making the final reward even worse the longer he stays in your hand.
Interesting card, seems interesting alongside tradeable cards and Auctioneer Jaxon. But im still not sure why you would play Final Showdown though. It seems like you probably want to use it for some kind of combo or OTK, but the only real OTK that DH has is Il'gynoth OTK. Not sure if that deck wants Final Showdown.
That being said, mana cheat is extremely powerful and often breaks the game... eventually. So even if it's not that good this expansion, just be careful because cards like these can become very powerfull/meta out of seemingly nowhere. (We havent seen all the DH cards yet. So maybe it gets some support. I hope it does.)
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Glide seems to be a must if you're aiming to actually complete the quest. Otherwise, "Your first Skull of Gul'dan this game discounts the cards drawn by (1) more" is probably enough to slot here and there?
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
Arthas was posting all the steps including the final reward before, what happened? You would need at least 2 different draw cards to pull off the 2nd and 3rd stage, and a lot of those are Outcast. Then there's making room in your hand for all the cards you are drawing. At least the rewards will help with that part.
Impractical amount of draw for very little payoff. However I'm fine with this because DH has been strong since it's release and never considered weak.

When this works, it will be super powerful. However, it will almost never go off in a regular game, and by the time it does, you'll only have like 4 cards left in your deck. The problem is, losing tempo just to draw cards is such a punishing effect. TBF, the rewards of just discounting some of your cards by 1 is pretty good on the way, but you'll almost never complete the final part in time. I like the entrance sound effect tho, very cool.
"Some inspirational quote from some famous person" - Some famous person
Wayy too hard to acomplish fast while still having cards on your deck
Lemushki - The one and only since the 2006 rebranding.
my least favorite quest.
Soul Fragments still exist, so they can be used in conjunction with Quest to get your cards for cheap. While those fragments can deny some of cost reduction, I feel like they are necessary to make this possible to complete.
Not sure if this could be in OTK Demon Hunter, just for the fact you can reduce the Cost of your combo pieces by a large margin even without completing the Quest. Skull of Gul'dan is instant completion of one part, which may be all you need. Sigil of Alacrity on top of that can finish the second part if you really need to.

Good or not, I'm not sure I'd enjoy playing against someone who draws their entire deck and reduces its cost immidiatly.
Not really a fan of these new Quest cards, seem to be much worse than the older Quests and some of the older quests were not even good. Most of these suffer from having to play most of your deck before the big payoff happens.
Out of the 10 questlines... this is surely lacking...
Basically it reads "Draw your entire deck, discount 9 cards by 1 and the rest by 2... If you got some left."
Not really seeing this as a good DH quest, but I guess DH shone too brightly when it came out, and this is a way to "dim the light".
Papa Nurgle wants to share his gifts.
I just don't see how cycling your deck into nothing is good.
Chumbawumba is the worst band name.
I'm quite skeptical on this quest. The mana cost reduction to hand is very good as we all know but I don't really know what type of deck it would be... tempo, midrange, combo or control? It's probably one of the weaker quests but wouldn't be terribly sad if I got it in my packs
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
the stupidest questline. When completed there will be no use for the benefit
I am 69 years old and still reach Legend
I thin the archetype is like a self mill tradeable dh, doesn't know if it will works aside meme or achievement hunting decks
I really wanted this to work, since Demon Hunter is by far my favourite class, but I just don't see how this quest pays off. So you draw a lot of cards in order to make your future draws cheaper, but then what? It doesn't feel very useful at all, honestly.
The final reward seems so terrible, given how much of your deck you'll have drawn, in comparison to the incremental value you'll gain as you complete it. This needs some sort of combo to be worth it, and that's too much for my tiny brain to come up with.
