Is that foreshadowing for a collectible Ice Trap?
Very lackluster card. The improved secrets are cool, but this isn't exactly necessary in Secret Hunter, and any other Hunter deck would rather have the base hero power (Assuming this hero power is random).
This with the Questline will be quite good though. 0 mana Animal Companions that refreshes with each spell can lead to big burst every single turn
Insanely good card. Amazing in Non-questline decks, because of the hero power. Infinite Huffers are pretty good, cuz you know its "always Huffer". And Beaststalker Tavish will be a must-include in any secret hunter deck. Not only that, but i feel like Beaststalker Tavish will also see play in slower hunter decks. Maybe some kind of BIG hunter with Wing Commander Ichman in the future?
The secrets also look very good. This effect kinda reminds me off Malygos, Aspect of Magic which saw play for a LONG time, just because of getting 1 upgraded mage spell. So i wouldn't be surprised if Beaststalker Tavish sees play just because of the upgraded secrets. And i bet we got a teaser for a new secret named Ice trap, which looks like a very solid mix between Counterspell and Freezing Trap.
Also i love how this is the second "stalker" hero card. (Deathstalker Rexxar & Beaststalker Tavish)
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
I feel like this is good but at the same time somewhat pointless.
Like...we have all this secret support, but little to no actual payoff. I thought this was going to be some huge "do something for every Secret played" battlecry, but instead we just get...more Secrets.
Sure, there's a mini-set still coming and we have an entire upcoming year of potential synergy, but right now this just seems a bit too lonely.
Also not a big fan of the hero power. Just getting Animal Companion as a Hero Power doesn'T seem like a great trade. At the very least they could have let us discover the companion instead of relying on RNG.
I'M assuming we're still getting one more Secret though, so maybe that's where the power is.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Those two secrets better line up perfectly because they could work out to be exactly 6 mana's worth. E.g. getting slow 6/6 in snakes and basically killing a minion.
Ok fine that's great, but so slow and could be a 1/1 rush. Hero power is unreliable as well. Empty board summon a 2/4 for 3. It's alright but nothing to lose your mind about.

Well, this is sure to get secret hunter off the ground. Not to mention Tavish is pretty good in any sort of deck, there's no real deckbuilding restrictions with him. The infinite Animal Companion is pretty great value too. We might finally be able to see a control hunter of some sorts, especially with the draw from Dun Baldar Bunker
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
This seems like a real ungood powershift. The idea that you get 2 secrets, let alone improved ones, cast them, AND your hero power gives you Animal Companion? That seems like swarm/Face hunter going in a different direction and I don't see it really working.
Sweet card, goes in any hunter deck except Quest Hunter. Can't wait to huffer my opponent's face every turn.
This seems to be one of the weaker hero cards although hunter might be able to overwhelm opponents with the shear amount of secrets created by the legendary weapon and through cheating them out. I doubt it though. I am glad they are experimenting with hero powers that cost more than 2 even if I'm not a huge fan of this particular one. More expensive hero power options in the future please. Looks like I will be running Sideshow Spelleater in many of my wild decks this December!
If Rinling's Rifle has such a good win rate, then there's no reason to expect this to do less.
Its not flashy compared to the others, and certainly its inconsistent in its delivery, but nevertheless it'll get you out of a tight spot. Gaining 5 armor and two secrets is about as defensive as it gets, and you get your animal companion which will no doubt allow you to bm to victory 30% of the time.
One thing that Im not okay with, is the hero power cost. Its almost as if its done solely because the original Animal Companion card is 3 mana. Considering what Kurtrus or Xyrella can dish out, why is Tavish's the only one with an increased hp cost?
I know it is at least decent, if not already good, but ... I don't know
Maybe the randomness of its hero power is what really bugs me here
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Dropping two secrets at once can be very paralyzing, and the improved versions all seem really sweet. The hero power is great for any midrange or slower Hunter deck, but since Hunter tends to skew aggressive it's a little hard to judge how broadly applicable it will be.
I like this card. This can work is a build around deck (secret hunter) or as a stand alone (much like how Rinling's Rifle is used currently). The 2 improved secrets mana plus 5 "heal" I think is good enough to compensate for the tempo loss on turn 6.
The hero power is also good for hunter who struggles for card card draw as it's free card resource every turn. Sucks to lose the guaranteed damage though.
The hero power costing 2 doesn't seem like it would be overtuned (especially looking at other hero cards) so that's a bit disappointing
I'm really not a fan of the 3-mana hero power, since that's what Animal Companion costs anyway, and shouldn't a hero card be more powerful than that? I'm not sure if this will be that great for secret Hunter. There aren't a whole lot of "if you control a secret" cards.
This is so bad compared to Rexxar I can’t make any wild decks with it.
This feels so underwhelming. I mean, the hero card itself is good with the improved secrets, but summoning an Animal Companion for your hero power feels lackluster. And I can't think of any Hunter archetype that can make use of this card, which looks like it's more suited to control.
Being able to discover huffer would be broken though. Even Justicar Trueheart only upgraded the hero power from 2->3. Allowing a 4/2 charge minion every turn as early as turn 6 would be backbreaking to counter.

There's nothing wrong with hunter being encouraged to do control. Remember Deathstalker Rexxar? Control hunter is actually one of the few hunter archetypes that is interesting to fight against and play as (spell hunter, DK rexxar, etc). There's nothing really exciting or incentivizing for "oh look...more smorc hunter support cards. /yawn

I'll hate playing against this because I hate secrets, and I won't like playing with it.
Chumbawumba is the worst band name.
Can't wait to see you on the ladder with Secret Hunter 2.0 ^^
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
I am on a fence with it. The effect seems ok, hero power is basically the core spell every turn but in times like this, is 4/2, 4/4 or 2/4 enough to loose 2 damage every turn? I've seen ideas to use this hero power with questline but it doesn't seem like something real. Waiting to see it in action, 3-staring it for now.
I think this can be very interesting. The bump in mana cost for the hero power makes me wonder how much it can help. You lose the face damage, and for me at least, it isn't always Huffer. I do like the secret archetype and hope it does work out. The improved secrets look pretty cool.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
I see they are trying to slow the meta. The hero itself is good but I don't know if it have the power to rise out of the range of face hunter decks
Honestly, I love this card just for the idea of upgraded Secrets. Feels like something that could be brought back in the future as a one-off reference on a card. I know they said they'd only update the pool while he remains in Standard, but I can always dream of a world where we see more and more cool upgraded Secrets.
Welcome to the site!
Doesn't have quite the same "take over the Game" feel as some of the more expensive Heroes, but he comes down a bit earlier than those, which could make a difference. The Improved Secrets are definitely a big punish if you can't play around them. I think this goes in faster Hunter decks as a way to seal the deal and put even more pressure on the opponent. (Also, if you can keep from completing the second two steps of the Quest until after you play him, does that give you a 0-Cost Animal Companion that can be refreshed?)
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
The Improved Secrets makes Tavish just good enough for non-Face Hunter decks.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
Secret Hunter auto include. I am very stoked to run this card in that deck and complete the new XP achievement very efficiently.
I can see a ton of Huffer rolls already... oh boy, fun times!
