I think this would have been much stronger if it hit minions only. If you play this on curve, face damage is not yet relevant but getting board control is.
This card gives me Bloodmage Thalnos vibes - nothing flashy, but a great allrounder for various purposes. I like it!
Plus he's from the Core set, so it's not like you pulled something uninteresting. Everyone is given the card for free! :)
Frost requires Corpses from somewhere for Marrow Manipulator, Defrost, etc., so on some level you need a card like this for the bodies if nothing else. He can be awkward for your opponent to deal with, as well, because it could snipe a minion or two on the way out or chip away at their face. Thassarian is just an all-around solid Frost Rune card that - while not flashy - will get the job done.
But aren't legendary cards expected to be flashy? It's in the name: it's legendary because people tell stories about it.
No, it's Legendary because having more than one in your deck would be OP. That lets them have either slightly pushed or very unique effects.
Look at King Krush, Natalie Seline, and Zilliax. There's plenty of legendaries with unexciting but solid effects.
4 mana is kind of expensive. Should be a 4/4.
One of the most boring legendaries I've ever seen.
IS IT NOT BORING?
A legendary 4 mana 3/3 deathrattle deal 2 to a random enemy?
That's legendary worthy?
Its a 3/3 that will come back as a 3/1 after dead and dealing 6 damage outside of itself. All that for 4 mana. Boring yes, but a very effective 4 drop.
Not to mention that it generates 2 corpses, which for frost decks is fairly valuable. Buffing it to a 4/4 means its strictly the best 4 drop by a very large margin. With so many bs cards from DK I dont need another contender into the 1-month nerf list already.
It's a legendary. It should be the best 4 drop.
Playing a 3/3 on turn 4 is how you aggro'd down .
There's alot of legendaries that will also get you aggro'd down. So that's not a fair barometer.
Similarly there's even more legendaries that are more interesting or powerful but never see play because they dont fit the game plan, or just plain too slow. This card is fine to me, both in tempo and effect.
Frost DK is a midrange tempo deck with some burn options. This card fits the description, and will very likely be played. Sometimes, legendary status can be granted simply to limit its play rates, and if this is the reasoning behind this card's legendary status then that's good enough for me.
Would have made more sense as an epic and make it deal 1 instead of 2.
but it's whatever if its trash I just won't play it.
It's a 3/3 with a 3/1 inside of it that deals a Fireball's worth of damage. It can ping minions or pressure face. It's not the most exciting design, but it's pretty strong. Buffing it is a terrible idea.
Just a decent card that'll be included if you're going remotely anywhere near frost. Considering that you have to kill it twice, with 3 attack, and it does 2 extra damage, that's rather alot for a 4 mana card.
All these reborn minions making me wonder whether we'll start just jamming starfish into every deck again.
Seems okay, legendary volatile skeleton isn’t that interesting though
Interesting that core deathknight has more than 3 legendaries.
