Even After Nerfs, Conjurer's Calling Sees Play!
Conjurer's Calling has been nerfed to 4 mana in the latest balance change patch, but there's one deck that would actually consider this a buff!
Even Mage has access to a few minions that let you abuse the power of Conjurer's Calling being Mountain Giant and Frost Giant for high cost minions that you can play cheap and get 2 large minions, as well as some Deathrattle minions which can provide some large board swings when used with CC; Piloted Shredder Piloted Sky Golem and Sylvanas Windrunner. Throw in Khadgar with either of the piloted mechs and you can make a full board out of almost nothing.
The Hero Power Package
Being an Even Mage, the deck also includes a whole slew of minions that turn our 1 mana Fireblast into a force to be reckoned with. Fallen Hero can temporarily upgrade it to a Fireblast Rank 2 or even a Mind Shatter with 2 of them and their power scales up to be even better when you mix in Spirit of the Dragonhawk and Garrison Commander to hit multiple targets with our Hero Power every turn. Ice Walker is also incredible with these two minions since you can lock down entire boards every turn with just your Hero Power!
The Mechs
Just for the memes, I also like to include the Snowchugger + Missile Launcher combo in Even Mage, but now with the Piloted Shredders and Piloted Sky Golem, the deck has enough mechs to justify running Goblin Blastmage too!
The Draw
In order to enable cheap Mountain Giants, the deck includes Book of Specters and Archmage Arugal to load your hand up with a bunch of minions for a super low cost. Sandbinder is also in the deck for a bit more draw and the potential to duplicate Mountain Giants when used with Archmage Arugal.
Update
- 1 Missile Launcher, - 1 Spirit of the Dragonhawk
+ 1 Khartut Defender, + 1 N'Zoth, the Corruptor
Missile Launcher was underperforming in testing since the Snowchugger combo was unreliable and in matchups where it would matter, it was often too late. Khartut Defender is often much more helpful in aggressive matchups since it stops at least two attacks and heals for 6. Additionally, it has great synergy with Khadgar and Conjurer's Calling. With Khartut in the deck, I thought N'Zoth, the Corruptor might be worth trying as an extra push against control decks. There wasn't really anything I wanted to take out though. I settled on removing a Spirit of the Dragonhawk since in some matchups it can be a completely useless card. If you're running into a lot of aggressive or token-based decks, it may be better to remove a Snowchugger instead, but it will make Goblin Blastmage worse.

Would adding one copy of Coldarra Drake make the deck better? If it would survive a turn, wouldn't that make a 10 mana turn "deal 10 damage anywhere" or "2*8=16 damage anywhere" in combination with a Fallen Hero? I feel like Sylvanas Windrunner, Piloted Sky Golem and Goblin Blastmage could take one for the team. Another copy of Khartut Defender seems a bit more viable to me too.
If anything were to be cut I'd go for Goblin Blastmage first. Sylvanas Windrunner and Piloted Sky Golem are more important for their N'Zoth, the Corruptor and Conjurer's Calling synergy. Admittedly I don't actually own a copy of Coldarra Drake whcich is the main reason it isn;t in the deck.
I've thought about a second Khartut Defender, but didn't want to change anything too much. All of the other 6 drops are too important to remove and I feel like cutting a Goblin Blastmage for it would make the deck a little too top heavy, especially if you've already taken one out for a Coldarra Drake. Really wish I could just remove Genn Greymane from the deck :/
This is a tier z deck don't bother
Yeah, he should really label it "Just for Fun" or something...
Is there really enough for the mech package to work?
I've found it to be consistent enough. You can also get Clockwork Giant by CCing a Mountain Giant sometimes as another way to trigger Blastmage.
After having taken out Missile Launcher, Goblin Blastmage is the only Mech synergy card in the deck. The Piloted mechs are in here more for CC and N'Zoth Synergy and Snowchugger is just a good 2 drop for Even Mage.
Interesting. Do you think N'zoth is worth crafting for wild in general?
N'zoth is a cool card to have, but we already had metas where he was basically out of radars (because the meta was too fast), so it's not really a forever safe craft, but definitely a powerful neutral card. The revamped Renodecks are probably his best environment atm (to be seen if staple in them tho).
You can always build some homebrews with it, and have some satisfaction. Just be aware that the meta may turn unfavourable to games that regularly need turn-10 for powerturns. And remember he's good for stalling, but not necessarily for sealing the game.
You can conceive it as a poor man's DK, who can afford only one for all classes.
