Future Plans hype?
There is been a lot of hype since the Hearthstone Summit and I am looking forward to them revealing what they are planning. Just have a few comments on some of the hype. First, this idea of a Hearthstone 2.0. If they do one then they better transfer all cards to the new one because the will lose a lot of players if they do not. I for one will not start collecting all over again after spending 6 years on my current collection. Should be no problem transferring cards because after all what does 2.0 meant to a card game? Really it is just like an expansion, so current cards should be included. Second, they seem to be putting a lot of resources into Battlegrounds. Even though I am not a big fan or a regular player of Battlegrounds, I will not knock it or suggest that they should not support this mode because clearly it has a following. What I will say is that I do not see the source of revenue produced from this mode for Blizzard. Basically, revenue comes from packs and packs have no value for Battlegrounds. So clearly Blizzard is going to have to find a way to increase their revenue through packs in order to support Battlegrounds. How they intend to do this is what is peaking my interest.

I don't think we are going to be seeing anything on the level of a "Hearthstone 2.0". Honestly the UI is overall solid, and any improvements could easily be implemented without a whole "Hearthstone 2.0" rebranding. Hearthstone isn't a dying game (contrary to what some people say), it is the leading CCG, everyone else is trying to de-throne it. So there is really no need at this point for a 2.0 rebranding.
I know this idea comes from Heroes of the Storm 2.0, which was honestly Blizzard's last ditch effort to save that game. Hearthstone isn't in need of that. Any rebranding is already done every HS year with the themes, and 3 times a year with each expansion.
TL;DR - I wouldn't worry about losing your collection.
As for your second thoughts about Battlegrounds, it will be interesting to see how/if they monetize Battlegrounds. I'm assuming they are keeping track of how many new players are being drawn in because of battlegrounds, and if those new battlerground players are then trying out the rest of the game. They already have small perks built into battlegrounds for opening DoD packs. I'm assuming they will continue to do stuff like that to encourage the battleground players to venture into the constructed/collection building side of the game.
Currently you need to open 30 packs from the most recent expansion to get all of the perks of the battlegrounds beta. Thats not very hard to do being f2p at all. Maybe they will add more perks for higher amount of packs purchased.
isnt it 20 packs?
I think if they would make some sort of New Hearthstone like Hearthstone 2.0 that they will simply do that via update - because like you said if they would make a new game with all new cards etc they would loose a lot of players.
So far im hyped because there we're some infos and interviews that sounded exciting - some questions about a new Identity for Paladin, Mage will be bonkers etc
I also think it`s ok if they give a lot of resources to Battlegrounds because the mode has found lots of love from the community - but that does not mean that they will only do new things for BG and nothing else.
So, like i said - i'm hyped about the upcoming expansion/changes/rotation etc :)
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
If mage is going to be even more bonkers (even when Galaxy spell gets rotated...my all time favorite) then I will be very happy indeed.
We don't need any HS2: they can simply overhaul the game internally, if they really want to.
Game X is/was a design policy that is made redundant with the regular release of expansions: you release a new game only after you've stopped expanding the old one for a while.
I guess Mage will have to change the deckbuilding approach after the rotation.
Right now the only playable list is Highlander, with lots of high costed minions and very few spells. All works around mana chasing effects like Luna's Pocket Galaxy, Dragoncaster and Tortollan Pilgrim.
Since you won't be able to change 1-cost minions anymore, I expect to see a more spell focused list with a different game plan.
Spice Lord and self-proclaimed Meme Master.
10 packs for stats, 20 for 3 heros and 30 for emotes. The last one dosnt seem necessary but its there
Emoting the smiley cow when you luck out a round is priceless. Change my mind.
All the emotes are childish and horrible overall, but that one triggers me for unknown reasons.

does anyone still emotes in BG? I've only ever seen the murloc hand waving at the start of the game. The rest is usually either ignored or just never happened.
Wonder what prompted them to remove the voice emoting during the minion trading phase.
