There's literally an aggro demon hunter deck out right now (prestor aggro dh) but okay
Kayn doesn't see play because there are no big taunt minions that see play. That's literally it. It's a 4 mana 3/4 that deals 3 in this meta which isn't good enough.
Just think about it. The only deck that has big taunts in this meta is libram paladin, which doesn't see play. So there's no reason for Kayn to be used.
Taunt Druid, Libram Paladin, Priest with the 6/6 heal 8,
Added a couple of final sections for other content along with some extra notes/links. Uff, somehow there's always even more to talk about than one might initially recall.
Disregard that. As FortyDust mentioned on the other page, devs commented on Twitter:
The first curse starts at 1 damage (it counts itself and immediately ticks up from 0 to 1). Each curse will disappear on its own after 2 turns, or you can "cast" it for 2 mana to get rid of it early. Every additional curse deals 1 more ongoing damage than the last.

I have not played HS for months but now I'm back. I'm getting some "Standard packs" as rewards and I'm waiting to open them after the expansion launches, already in the new Hearthstone year, so I don't get cards that are about to rotate out. Does that make sense, or are the cards in those packs already determined?
Were there any comments from devs on how the Abyssal Curse work? I suspect that it won't be like Cursed!, but instead will persist for two turns objective-like dealing more damage each turn.
Another day another new bug reveals itself. Its only a visual bug this time, the end of month rewards are still here, though we've been robbed of the slight pleasure of opening those packages ourselves.
Its also a little surprising to me that we got alterac packs instead of sunken city ones. Usually they award us with the new expansion packs in the final season before the expansion hits.

I think that having a 17% playrate while retaining a 53% winrate is pretty absurd for a deck and I think that the only other time I've seen something close to that was around when Azir Irelia released which I believe had something around 10% playrate and 58% winrate? Idk I'm really just pulling numbers out of a hat. Though through sheer numbers alone I would probably say the deck is definitely tier 2 and borderline tier 1.
The fact that Azir and Xerath can both level pretty fast in the same deck is pretty nice and definitely strong. Having a 5/9 by turn 6 that pings for 5 damage each round and a deck that can only churn out game-ending values is pretty hard to beat when they get going. I think that depending on how you build your deck, you may have varying consistency with this strategy. My deck runs a lot of predicts while forgoing some cards like Ancient Hourglass or Quicksand and I'm able to get it up about 10-20% of the time by turn 6. I can imagine that if you focus on just turbo leveling your champs and not drawing them you could probably get a faster turn to flip the sun disc but less consistency. Idk if that's better but I like having to win on turn 5.
Is it broken though? I wouldn't say it is as of now. Maybe it will be, maybe it won't. There are a lot of decks that have similar hype around launch before dying down to obscurity the following week. The recent cases of Iceborn Legacy Poros and Dragons with the buff to Dragon's Clutch is a prime example of this. There are also decks designed to counter it already like Viktor Riven Ambush or Taliyah Ziggs. Burn and aggro does well into it and a single well-timed landmark removal may just swing the game. Regardless of how it is, I would say that it will impact the meta a fair amount and probably settle in tier 2 just like all the aforementioned decks but I still wouldn't be surprised if it's any higher as well.
Yes, actually! So I guess I wasn't the only one. I've added the screenshot to the article now (near the top, below the Gryphon card back), if that's what you got. I was relieved to see the packs afterwards (but couldn't quite make out which epic card the game gave me for D5 rank), thought this was actually the result of me not relogging once the clock hit 00:00, just moving back to the main screen from the Mercenaries mode.
The stats are up on Runeterra.Ar, and I have some personal experience with it as well. The site's data shows about 8.5k games played, making it a whopping 17% playrate over the past two days, which is pretty insane. About double the playrate of anything in the past few months. But its winrate is only about 53%.
Yes, it can highroll pretty hard. Yes, it's actually a good deck now. No, it's not as OP as people think it is.
Examples of decks that beat it:
Elise Spiders - mono-shurima is actually listed on Runeterra.Ar as the best matchup currently for spiders. Spiders deck has a 1.5% playrate and a 55% winrate overall - no doubt thanks to the easy wins from all the mono-shurima players
Azir/Irelia - mono-shurima is also listed as the best matchup for this deck as well - this deck that got nerfed hard in the past and fell off the scene for a long time. Well, it's back, and it's eating mono-shurima for breakfast. Azirelia's playrate is at 2% and winrate is at 57%.
So, yeah, guys. Don't fall into the trap of the alarmist hype that mono-Shurima is completely broken and OP. It just isn't.
Side note - I played 5 games with the deck in Plat 2 and lost literally all 5 games. Never touching it again. Time to play decks that beat up on it, so I can get back my lost LP. Also, just for fun in normals, I played an old poro deck with Fabled Poro and such, focused on building a buffed board of all types of poros, and I queued into mono-Shurima all three games so far, and I completely wrecked my opponent in all of those games - with poros. Seriously, the deck can't be that good if it folds to poros. (Edit - though, to be fair, I did include two copies of Aftershock in there, and those did have an impact on two of my wins. In one of the wins, the opponent put their Xerath into a landmark, preparing to level him when he popped out the next turn. Aftershock ended that dream, and the game. In the other game, the opponent didn't bother to spellshield the Sundisc, so I killed it. Third game, I just beat him the normal way.)
So now there's multiple ways to generate Abyssal Curses, and with this in play you get healed for the damage the enemy hero takes. Still not sure this will be all that great, but I don't think I fully understand how it works from reading the card text.
The first curse starts at 1 damage (it counts itself and immediately ticks up from 0 to 1). Each curse will disappear on its own after 2 turns, or you can "cast" it for 2 mana to get rid of it early. Every additional curse deals 1 more ongoing damage than the last.
So each curse deals one tick of guaranteed damage, which isn't terrible.
Ok I hate this already, if they developed this with the expectations that people know how to use Google docs and spreadsheets, they can go to hell. To the best of my ability and knowledge, I followed the steps to input everything into it, and nothing happens. Two lines of inputted health, and nothing changes, the next line everything is "end" So I guess I can't get this card back. Sad as I really liked it's look.
Edit: had to have a friend explain to me how to get a copy that I could modify to make this work, I praise the people who have solved this and share it with others, I just wish people would realize not everyone has the same tech knowledge.
Honestly, this game bored me extremely fast. Downloaded it and spent some bucks for the nostalgic feel of playing with Dark Magicians and the Egiptian God. But meta-wise, it sucks. If some of the decks on Hearthstone on the past year felt like solo-mode, MAN, you guys don't know. Every game of Yugi feels like seeing 8 hours of stream of Mage or Warlock unnerfed Questlines, except that every turn of that stream is joined into a massive neverending turn.
I think Yugi is pretty much unfixable. They really screwed it up. The only way to make it balanced and less solo mode would be to actually forget years of cards, ban them all and start from scratch lol. Very sad, there was one time when Yugi was the best TCG.
Hearthstone’s April 2022 Card Back, Rain on the Pane, Has Arrived! Important Events To Expect This Month
A busy month indeed, adding spam attacks to the mission target as well.
But one thing tho, I wouldn't call it a "zodiac" year, since it has nothing to do with real zodiac animal. But who am I to judge.
How is Kayn Sunfury still in standard and seeing no play?

Mono-Shurima is not that good
My answer to mono shurima is quite simple: play Scorched Earth turn 2 and watch their strategy fall apart on the spot

Opening standard packs after expansion launches
Expansions out in 2 weeks. Might as well wait it out so your packs are more valuable.

Za'qul is a New Legendary Warlock Card Revealed by Blizzard for Voyage to the Sunken City
1. Solar Ecplispte Cenarion Ward is a win-con.
2. Lady Prestor does not see significant play, and when she does it is for Kazakusan, thus getting the player closer to their win-con.
3. Rokara quest reward is a win-con.
4. All forms of draw and ramp get the player closer to their win-con.
5. Balinda does not see serious competitive play. Though I am going to double-check since I haven't looked at any pro mage decklists in a while.
My point is if a card doesn't help you win a game, it is bad. This card does nothing against anyone who has hit gold.
