  • Fluffy Warlock Spell is a New Card Revealed by Huya-Jth for Voyage to the Sunken City

Yeah but that only works if Questlock is still a viaable strategy. Soul rend saw no play during Barrens because at that point Warlock decks still had actual win conditions that didn't require you to just get to the bottom of your deck. As long as there are new cards that are a better win condition than just waiting for fatigue then you won't want to burn your own deck just for a 4-mana nuke that's probably too big for its own good anyways.

As long as the new cards provide new win conditions and don't just replace what Questlock lost I doubt we'll see a lot of Soul Rend

The soul rend package may not be good next expansion

    but maybe im wrong

Will the Curse of Weakness work? I mean, you can cast it multiple times.

They're playing it right now in questlock. Bloodshard bristleback and barrens scavenger are powerful enough payoffs that I think its worth considering even after rotation.

Except Soul Rend can destroy your gameplan unless theres a specific delete warlock deck in the meta I don't see why people would run the soul rend package.

  • Scale of Onyxia does way too much.

Have to agree with YourPrivateNightmare on this one. The fact is that druids are regularly 4-5 mana ahead of its competitors, that's the real reason why Scale of Onyxia looks incredibly OP.

Whenever druids dont ramp that far, scale of onyxia simply comes out too slow and really doesn't do more than remove 3 minions at best.

Its not about identity, its just team5 designing cards to give druid reasons to ramp up at all. If ramping up fast still results in druid getting buried then the whole class simply stops, as we have seen during stormwind. Team5 made an erroneous blunder in printing (and then refusing to nerf) cards like Overgrowth and Lightning Bloom, resulting in nearly every good midrange card for druid like Druid of the Plains getting stuffed because efficient plays requires druids to play overgrowth into immediate tempo swing to get anywhere. Scale of onyxia isn't good, but it fits the blueprint and allows druid to get away with greed, that's why its seemingly overpowered to play against.

Maybe, just maybe, after rotation we'll see a druid class that doesn't get destroyed by a turn 1 Irondeep Trogg, and doesn't just win the game if they play overgrowth or guff on curve. We'll probably see less of scale of onyxia then as well.

  • New Warlock Spell - Abyssal Wave

Too slow to do anything remotely useful. There's just simply better cards like Soul Rend and Full-Blown Evil.

The card lives and dies by the curse it gives to the opponent. But it seems like you can discard the curse the same way as rafaam's curse works. So what is this card supposed to do at the end?

Since warlock cards are pretty much withheld until the very end of the reveal line I have to assume that this is all for some very big effect, like something happening if the curse ticks high enough. Perhaps this card will, at the end, win the coveted lady liadrin award for most underestimated until later. Or perhaps it looks like what it is; trash.

  • Fluffy Warlock Spell is a New Card Revealed by Huya-Jth for Voyage to the Sunken City

The AoE effect is just slow, very slow. And in fact since Blood Shard Bristleback and Barrens Scavenger is still in standard, I cannot see any warlock running this over Soul Rend, which deals more damage and cost 2 less.

So if you're running this card at all it'll be for the curse. But the curse ticks so slowly its almost negligible as an offensive card, unless you can maintain tempo while doing so, which this card prevents, because you're going to nuke your side too. I would assume that your opponent can remove the curse by spending 2 mana playing it, the same way rafaam's curse works.

Pretty sure we'll be seeing more cards that ticks more fluffly curses, because otherwise this card is just hot garbage.

  • Voyage to the Sunken City

    a) Old N'zoth comes to Core set

    b) Mini-set

  • Fluffy Warlock Spell is a New Card Revealed by Huya-Jth for Voyage to the Sunken City

I bet the unrevealed warlock legendary does something with the curses, I think the curses will be a set mechanic similar to soul shards

  • Fluffy Warlock Spell is a New Card Revealed by Huya-Jth for Voyage to the Sunken City

I mean you could probably fit both of those cards into Control Warlock

  • New Warlock Spell - Abyssal Wave

I can#t tell if this is good or not. 4-damage for 6-mana is not great, especially since we just have better options for the most part.

Then again, Questlock is probably dead unless taking games into late fatigue is somehow an option in a world with so much lategame value generation Warlock needs some sort of win condition that starts ticking before they are through their entire deck. Curse of Agony is a start, but maybe you just run alll the curses and just chip away at your opponent slowly?

  • New Neutral Minion - Smothering Starfish

I don't like this. It feels like it's specifically designed to counter Snowfall Guardian because they kinda cornered themselves with that card (the more board focussed the meta, the more powerful it becomes with very little actual counterplay)

However, at the same time, this feels poorly designed for this shop, especially because they should just add Living Dragonbreath to the Core set.

My reasoning for this would be: If your opponent plays Guardian and freezes like 5 of your minions, he now has an 8/8 and you can't fight. If you play Dragonbreath, you are now unfrozen, can attack and your opponent can't follow up with another wave of freeze...but they still have an 8/8, meaning they're not completely fucked. It's then upon you to make sure they cannot easily kill your dragonbreath so you can leveerage the anti-freeze for as long as possible. That adds depth and decisionmaking.

Meanwhile, with Starfish, you just play it after the Guardian and their Guardian gets basically invalidated. They spent 6-mana on a 3/3 unless silencing your own stuff is a huge detriment to your own gameplan. At that point however, if they have a follow-up freeze then you're just as fucked as you were before. Essentially you'd have to have lethal by the time they freeze your board because you can only run two Starfish while they can freeze 4 times.

Maybe Dragonbreath is in the Core set anyways and this is just a generic tech card against buff spells, but still...not a huge fan of this design. Also huge powercreep on Showstopper for some reason.

  • Rewards Track Progress: 4.0

    Quote From Tetsuo

I'm at Level 174. With the new weekly quests I'll be able to clear 180 within the week, but I'm worried the Battle Pass will reset before I can achieve my goal of reaching 200. Will the Battle Pass reset at the end of March or by the end of rotation? I've been burned before by something resetting before the new expansion even hit, I just can't remember if it's the battle pass or achievements.

I believe the achievements reset (after patch on April 5th the old achievements will not provide XP but the new ones will provide it instead)

    BTW, level 203 achieved today.

  • Fluffy Warlock Spell is a New Card Revealed by Huya-Jth for Voyage to the Sunken City

Keen eye, I didn't consider that reading. If that's the mechanic, and the other class cards synergise around generating a bunch of them like you and Nirast suggest, then I'd definitely reconsider this card. Could definitely be a worthy inclusion in a control/burn deck built around curses, if the other cards are good, of course.

  • New Priest Spell - Whirlpool

Finally an anti-copy card. But for one class at 9 mana.

  • Fluffy Warlock Spell is a New Card Revealed by Huya-Jth for Voyage to the Sunken City

The way this card is worded indicates that we're probably going to see more cards that generate this curse card for your opponent (we still have quite a few Warlock cards left to see). If one of them is decently cheap, the damage could add up when paired with Tamsin Roame

Also, depending on the curse cards we see, it's possible that this package could see play for burn in Murloc Warlock.

  • Fluffy Warlock Spell is a New Card Revealed by Huya-Jth for Voyage to the Sunken City

I'm pretty sure this card means that "every curse that is added to your hand deals 1 more damage than the previous one". So the first curse always deals 0 damage per turn. The second curse that is added to your hand deals 1 damage per turn, the third deals 2 and so on.

I find it very unlikely that the damage of this card ticks up every turn it's in your hand, because if that was the case, it would be worded as such.

  • Fluffy Warlock Spell is a New Card Revealed by Huya-Jth for Voyage to the Sunken City

But then they would say something like "this deals 1 more damage every turn this is in your hand". I think this wording indicates that we're going to see more cards that generate this specific curse card.

  • Fluffy Warlock Spell is a New Card Revealed by Huya-Jth for Voyage to the Sunken City

I think "each curse" means each turn the curse get worse if you don' t play it

  • Fluffy Warlock Spell is a New Card Revealed by Huya-Jth for Voyage to the Sunken City

Well since the curse gets worse for each generated, and it is only possible to generate 2 (without spell copy effects) right now, i think it's safe to say that more cards are coming that generate the curse

The only way I see the curse being good is if there are other cards generating it. Which miiiiight happen, since there's still a lot of Warlock cards to be revealed.
