  • Magister Dawngrasp's Odd Mage - Wild Hearthstone Full Deck & Guide

Odd mage was my fav when it was in Standard meta. I need to try this deck. Thanks for share! I hope I have enough dust for missing cards. :)

  • Building The Best Sun Disc List

Yeah like again, if you want a streamer list here is sunny running mono Azir Xerath.

    https://youtu.be/RLrkL37aUfM

He built his list the same time I did a day ago.

His is more like just good mono shurima follower stuff, and mines more turbo sundisc control.

His looks like more conventional list if you want a more straight forward play pattern.

Also as for my list you forget Xerath equals 3 more rite of arcane and we can tutor extra copies with the 4 drop. Like my big concern is like how do you beat deep, or like Freijord control or just like poros.

Like it really depends, like he thinks he can like level Azir naturally and I find post nerfs that a tall order especially because sundisc limits your board space. So give his a shot and see how many times you flip disc.

Edit: Just tried Sunny's list the opponent played Temo and I lost. So I wouldn't personally recommend a list that greedy. At least when turbo sundisc you have a miniscule chance of racing the opponent.

    Odd Mage?!  Cool deck!

Now, on to the more important thing here…  Welcome back, Swizard!

  • Building The Best Sun Disc List

Ascended rise is a terrible card,  and so is unworthy... mono shurima feels pretty decent to me vs other midrange/control matchups tho... I think the main problem with the deck is that it has 0 decent healing options... I run one devoted council but that's because I have no other option. Any form of aggro/ burn deletes the deck though.

Terrible as it is Ascended's Rise is still a win con and the only card that can level up the sun disc in any reasonable time. Unworthy doesn't do anything for the deck, attack reduction at slow speed is useless, it's second effect is great but very hard to trigger because the only anti-ramp card that deck is using is Rite of the Arcane.

  • Ignite rope

The fact that animation runtime seems to be tied to framerate (from what I'm hearing) is a sign the devs don't know what they're doing...

  • Hot Take Card Inbalance Is Healthy For CCG's

You like card imbalance? No problem,  Hearthstone devs got your back.  As for LOR imma hard pass on that.

  • Real Talk - Is Anyone Playing Runeterra?

I appreciate the way the game is balanced now... I can see why people would prefer Metas like azirelia threshus and lisstrundle for the rock paper scissors gameplay and not having to worry about losing to meme decks, but for me I prefer to be able to use all factions and have half the cards in the game be useful enough to go in a competitive deck I can play on the ladder/gauntlet.

  • Achievement Hunting: Alterac edition (featuring bugs from the smol indie company series & Knuckles)

My last discover is that Nobleman is a good deck filler for achievement hunting, can copy achievement key cards.

    Quote From Shwarzinator

I'm on my last legs with Hearthstone. Been playing almost every day since Kobolds. The Stormwind quests sucked a lot of joy out of it for me. Alterac has some fun decks but it's imbalanced and I'm sick to death of pirate warrior. Just playing a bit because it's familiar/habit etc.

Alterac is unironically the most balanced meta we've had in years. If this is enough to push you over the edge then yes, you probably need a break.

Also, PIrate Warrior (assuming you're talking about Standard) is easily the most exploitable deck in the entire meta and as long as you play a halfway decent ladder deck you can farm it like it's a crappy homebrew, it's that predictable. If the case is that you're playing Wild then...honestly I don't know how you made it this far, that place is a shithow.

They didn't say they couldn't beat Pirate Warrior. They said they were sick of it. BIG difference. But it's not the game's fault that so many mouth-breathers can't find a better deck to play.

I definitely agree that the meta is pretty balanced at the moment. The prevalence of certain annoying decks is due to the player base, not the design team.

What helped me alot with APM decks is the config edit for vsync and targetframerate

dont trust videos or other pages 100% , variables changed during years and can change on new engine updates, people find better a value and other another value all is based on hardware , monitor , etc. etc. .

I was using 60 for targetframerate for years but an update ( engine update) make it fast but shit to view like blur , fortunately i fast discovered the edit was the cause , and changed targetframerate to 0 ( some say is max / unlimited ) and all fixed ( you know,  it works for me so i dont touch but is possible is not the best) .

So remember the cause of future problems can be the this.

Some people say to lock the file after edit,  i think is the worst thing to do .. for me variables stay without locking the file. I think the main reason of losing the variables is changing graphic settings .

TMYK : Once i read a guy tryng to explain why it works that for me make sense , if you try to improve game using low setting, the low setting use a custom targetframerate of 30 fps , using this variables you can keep graphic on low and override the 30 fps lock , other graphic settings probabily have other higher caps.

There is no official info if this is legal or illegal , but alot o pro players explained/used this trick for years , in battlegrounds was a gamechanger.

    Here Pathra expains it.

The best version runs X3 Unworthy?

I understand that it's not meant to be a competitive deck, but still I think we can do better than add a card who is the very definition of pack filler. Maybe a predict card to make the deck a little bit more consistent.

That aside this look like a fun deck. You bank 1 spell mana, play Azir on 3, Xerath on 4 and Ascended's Rise on 5 and hop you got yourself a turbo Restored Sun Disc.

Unique mechanic of replacing your deck.

Plus Hearthstone understood that putting "quests" in your card game ads additional levels of strategy and playability.

Like personally I get bored of put the opponents life to 0 every game.

Like sure I can do it aggressively, I can do it with burn in a Veigar deck or I can do it with atrocity in a Viego deck but while they do feel different, they aren't thaaaaat different.

At least when compared to a Fiora otk, or a mill wincon, or the healing fountain etc.

So yeah I like when bad decks get buffed.they don't need to be meta to be playable or at least looking at as a unique building challenge.

Its like Swim with his Poros sure the deck only wins 45% of the time but he's good enough to make it work.

Edit: apparently post iceborn legacy buff poros might have gone up by 10% which is great. This is what I was saying you buff bad cards and sometimes entire new decks become viable. Like this is how you put the fun.back in the game and then eventually once that Poros deck starts being countered by not just running grindy card piles, the meta will change again.

  • Hearthstone's Battle for Alterac Valley Event Has Entered Its Final Honor Phase - Will the Alliance Hold Steady, or Can the Horde Still Prevail?

    Staff

Clarification: The period for tallying the winning faction is from December 7 to January 11, but you can collect Honor to complete your personal Legendary Quest Chain at any point throughout the Fractured in Alterac Valley expansion. After the expansion period, the Legendary Quest Chain will be replaced with another means to earn these rewards.

Hmmm, so this seems like ppl don't actually have to grind ranked for Honor to get the golden Legendary of the opposing faction. But it is pretty vague, so in no way can we claim that for a fact. It will be nice if that is the case, but it is shitty to not tell us already, obviously they want players glued to ranked as much as possible for as long as possible and the Honor based questline definitely did that (in how big of a scale is anyone's guess).

  • Big Mercenaries Updates Coming Soon - New Zone, Bounties, Equipment Change, and Training Grounds

    Staff

They could put "mutators" in for bounties, as they did for Saviors of Uldum adventure. That could be interesting, tho there is still the problem of replayability, what is the point after you leveled everything up.

  • Big Mercenaries Updates Coming Soon - New Zone, Bounties, Equipment Change, and Training Grounds

This is just further proof that level-based game design is stupid, unnecessary, and detrimental to the long-term health of a game. They made leveling up so trivial that hardcore players can do it in no time at all, but enough of a chore for casuals that Blizzard felt the need to add this ridiculous gizmo to the game to help them get around it. Either way, LEVELING UP IS SOMETHING NO ONE WANTS TO DO.

Don't get me wrong -- I like progression, but I want it to be horizontal, not vertical. I want to slowly broaden the scope of my abilities, not just get bigger numbers that eventually trivialize content.

Mercenaries would have been a lot more fun as a more "open-world" experience, with no levels. Each area would still have a different flavor and different enemies, but you could tackle them in whatever order you choose, and no area would become obsolete because it had been outleveled.

This would still leave room for equipment and coins and such for horizontal progression. In fact, the various challenges would be a lot more interesting if each piece of equipment could really shine in certain encounters. You get a tiny taste of that now, but in many cases it's clear that one item is just strictly better than the other two.

  • Big Mercenaries Updates Coming Soon - New Zone, Bounties, Equipment Change, and Training Grounds

"Although this may not be a feature that everyone needs as the most hardcore players level their characters quite fast, the more casual audience will certainly appreciate earning experience while offline."

this is one of the more disingenuous statements ive read online in awhile, anyone playing mercenaries has their guys at lvl 30 by now, anyone

if blizzard tracked the usage of this feature and released the data (which they wont obv) it would be the single most useless game feature blizzard has designed in some time

  • Counting On You - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

    Late feedback:

    Demonxz95
Restless Souls doesn't count, in my opinion. It's in the same category as AoE, which I don't belive they count.

Among the other two cards, it's a tough call because they're completely opposite in some ways. Magatha is very safe and the Templar is pretty bonkers. To be honest, I don't see any of them winning, but they'll both surely reach the finals. I'd say go with the Templar to try something more original?

    Nirast
The new art is really cool. I'd say you're good to go.

    Aerojulwin
I don't like the Snow Prowler in this thread, but the one you ended up submitting is very cool. Not a fan about the art, though.

    linkblade91
I think I prefer the Divine Shield Yrel over the Rush one. The Rush one is a glorified, more flexible "Destroy all enemy minions if you don't have any", which isn't OP for 6, but still, I think the purpose she serves can be met with a more straight forward card.

  • Hearthstone's Battle for Alterac Valley Event Has Entered Its Final Honor Phase - Will the Alliance Hold Steady, or Can the Horde Still Prevail?

  • Building The Best Sun Disc List

Sun Disk decks is the Definition of a timmy deck: it has big splashy effects that are unlikely to work out but win you the game if you should get to do it.

Also it's about watching ~movies~ level up animations.

However: the best sun disk deck I can think of runs 2 regions and no sun disks

  • Big Mercenaries Updates Coming Soon - New Zone, Bounties, Equipment Change, and Training Grounds

On the whole I agree, though there are actually quite a few power-ups that are interesting and can change how you approach things. To name a few: Valeera's immune+heal while stealthed (especially when also using Scabbs); both VanCleefs get a power-up that let's you change their role; Cariel and Cornelius get some Roame family insurance with divine shield shenanigans; Cookie can pre-summon 2 fish.

I have used most characters fairly equally in PvE, and I'd estimate at least half the characters don't get offered anything particularly interesting, or it's only offered after an elite encounter so you'd rarely see them. Thrall getting Hex that way saved my bacon against heroic Snowclaw, for example, but I've only ever seen Thrall offered it once so I have no idea how many mercs have something interesting hidden there that I've just never seen. The more interesting characters thus end up being those who see the cool things after normal encounters, e.g. Valeera and the VanCleefs.

So yeah, there's definitely room for improvement there and I hope they revisit what everyone is offered and replace useless/boring options (like casting a random ability twice at speed 8, which is a complete liability on all the mercs who have targeted, non-attacking abilities) with something that changes how you approach the gameplay.

It is worth pointing out though that there is a lot of variety embedded in the comp and equipment choice, and unless you're doing a high-level heroic bounty it probably won't cripple you to use something sub-optimal. Even if you are doing a high-level heroic bounty, you can sometimes cheese them with things like Valeera's Assassinate treasure or Mukla only taking 1 damage at a time (with which you can easily eat lots of bananas to make yourself unkillable), so most of the comp can be whatever you want to try out. You sometimes don't need to cheese it, but you have that as a back-up plan.

PS: can you not change equipment mid-bounty? It has certainly been letting me do that. I haven't been trying to exploit it, I just sometimes forgot to change before starting the bounty.

  • Hearthstone's Battle for Alterac Valley Event Has Entered Its Final Honor Phase - Will the Alliance Hold Steady, or Can the Horde Still Prevail?

When I first got Drek I used him alot. Now that I have Van, that discount is real strong. I think Drek'thar is a bit harder to build around. Vandar makes sense, small spells into big dudes. Drek there is always a minion that feels essential (like matriarch for druid). Also if you don't hit Vanndar the deck usually still feels good. Drek'thar however, if you don't draw him feels so much worse plus all the low cost battlecry minions that are useful but stink with Drek.

Still no regrets, for the horde! I'm sure he'll find a stronger place soon.

You get a golden copy of the opposing leader when you get to the highest rank.
