Yeah, I feel it that way too. I´ve been Rank 1 three stars a few times, both Standard and Wild, but still didn´t hit Legend. After I lose to the "final boss", I totally give up, too afraid to hit that freaky Play button, so I won´t fall even further. Stupid, I know, but couldn´t help myself. It got to the point I was too frustrated to not hit it again, so I didn´t touch Ranked for months. Result? I´ve lost my 9 star multiplier on both ladders, and now it´s even harder to get up again, so I´m not even trying anymore. Now I reach Gold 5, that´s where my stars fade out and I don´t play any further. It makes me sad because I was so close too many times, and I really wanted to reach it just once. I feel like everyone and their mother reached it with no problem. Well, we´re not alone after all :) Maybe we can start some sort of support group? Hehe.
BTW, congrats to all who already made it, cheers to all who are still waiting to achieve it :)
As much as I sympathise with you, non-golden cards generate non-golden things (in this case heroes), so it is working 'correctly'. My golden Maestra is dutifully giving me golden warrior, warlock and DH heroes despite me not having those classes at 500 wins yet.
They better give up compensation for the bugged achievements. I'm certain I've completed the "You are not worthy" achievement already with Cariel, if it wasn't bugged.
Personally, I like it when there is a big enemy to fight. What I don’t like is when every person I fight is that big enemy
You realize that this is impossible to attain, right?
If the enemy is big, it will have an enormous slice of the playrate pie, and you will fight it often (aka "every person I fight" in the common ccg slang).
If it does not have a huge playrate, it's too small to be "the big enemy."
That's just how the genre works. I don't know of any exceptions.
Okay after much testing and final deliberation I settled on the final version of the list. Teched as hard against aggro at burst speed as it's possible for this region to do so.
The champ rationing seems more or less optimal for movie time. Not a lot of other ways to make possitive changes. Again it's not great as a combo deck compared to atrocity decks, it's not great into aggro, but it is fun for casual play and can actually deal with a temo or something.
Or, as is my case, you like to play around with every class so your wins get spread out a lot. Been playing since Vanilla and only just got my first golden hero last week.
I dont really see it as an issue, there's simply very few greedy classes around that you'll mulligan incorrectly. And since rogue is one of the popular classes, good players will likely take that into account when doing their hand mulligans.
The reason maestra is in the deck at all is to buff Wildpaw Gnoll, nothing else. Its very rare you'll catch your opponent off guard.
I think we'll see something in the next couple of weeks since 22.4 is likely the mini-set. (DMF + Barrens had *.4 as their mini-set, SW was *.6 because *.4 was Mercs).
Yeah, ranked ladder anxiety is a real thing. I have been Legend many many times before, but I still feel it whenever I reach rank 1 and then it starts to kick in. Having lost the 11 star bonus in the past also did not help.
If you pilot a deck with a decent winrate and you know what the meta is, reaching Legend will happen eventually. The first time is the most difficult, but the ecstatic feeling of the achievement is going to be amazing.
There are plenty of people who don't have golden heroes. Some are newer players, and others are older players who may simply not like to play a given class.
Not everyone plays enough to earn a golden hero for every class. I don't have a single one, and I've been around since Vanilla :/ Only recently ramped up my Ranked play, but even then I'm still not there.
Honestly, run the 3 quick sands if you want. Its better into like early elusive plays, but it doesn't really help on trades because again you will never out beef your opponent playing sundisc.
As for ascendant rise, it doesn't take much time with sundisc to realize that manually leveling any ascended champ that isn't Xerath is sloooow.
Now again you saying it's a bad card but most decks don't run hard removal they simple dont, and they haven't for a long time same thing with hard deny. Like we are talking about a meta that is currently being dominated by poros lol interactivity isn't on the menu.
Yeah like again, if you want a streamer list here is sunny running mono Azir Xerath.
https://youtu.be/RLrkL37aUfM
He built his list the same time I did a day ago.
His is more like just good mono shurima follower stuff, and mines more turbo sundisc control.
His looks like more conventional list if you want a more straight forward play pattern.
Also as for my list you forget Xerath equals 3 more rite of arcane and we can tutor extra copies with the 4 drop. Like my big concern is like how do you beat deep, or like Freijord control or just like poros.
Like it really depends, like he thinks he can like level Azir naturally and I find post nerfs that a tall order especially because sundisc limits your board space. So give his a shot and see how many times you flip disc.
I don't know how to post decks like you do, but I have been running this list since Bandle city came out. CQBQCBIKYAAQGBIHA4FQ4BYEA4BQ2HBFEZGGMAICAQDQCLIBAMCAOPSIMU
I don't netdeck either unless it's an aggro deck I can't be bothered to test run 100 times to see what's optimal. Unworthy is bad because it's a slow speed removal spell, that's all. Ascended rise is a bad card because it's a dead card in your hand most of the time if you haven't played or drawn both champs, and also it is slow speed so control decks can wait for you to play it then remove your azir/xerath so you get an instaloss worth of tempo.
Does anyone else have problems playing in ranked mode? I'm too nervous when I play it. Also I have a little heart problem (it pricks when I'm beside myself). There is almost no such thing in any other mode. Because of this, I still haven't reached the Legend rank. Every rank game I'm afraid of losing. Even if it's clearly visible that I'm stronger than my opponent. I really want to achieve this cherished goal, but I still can't get over myself... Damn, it's just a game.

Reach Legend Rank
A few hints:
1) chose a tier 1 FAST deck. The more games you play the faster you approach Legend (providing that your win rate >50%)
2) keep always same deck: the more you know it and your opponent behaviors the higher are the chances to win
3) When you lose two games in a row take a break. Either you are not concentrated or in this moment the stars are against you.
good luck!

I can see how that would add replayability, but it also just sounds like Heroic mode.
We will see what unfolds, I guess!

Golden Maestra does and I even ran into one once so you can never be sure that you're not fighting one.

While all replies make sense, I still would like Maestra to turn into golden or non-golden correctly. Should not be a complex change.
