3 cards that alone push big spell mage and control warrior back into possibility!
Some interesting lore about the 2 legendary minions: Balinda Stonehearth is a rival of Captain Galvangar, although unlike her counterpart, she is a caster boss.
Not gonna stay on this thread much longer but I literally just played the mirror against Zigs Thaliyah and they lost handedly.
The reason is simple and I've played those decks too, that giving ziggs or Thaliyah overwhelm so you can actually win is super akward and requires multiple cards to be commited.
Meanwhile I play Nasus into strike and the games over and I literally commited 1 champ slot to make that play happen.
So again random forum people talking about a bad deck like Zigs Thaliyah 0 Nifty1. At the end of the day the money goes where your oversized mouths are.
I wouldn't be surprised if the rewards track crams in all 4 remaining mercs (Cariel, Varden, Tavish and Bru'kan) to complete them for the end of the year. If it does, there wouldn't be a whole lot of space for someone else, especially not another mage skin with Varden already in there.
For a split second, I was to argue that Grommash also need a combo card to activate, but then realized that Galvangar will necessitate even more prior preparation to get the effect to trigger - so I guess the main perk here is just novelty
I mean...Galvangar is strictly better in the sense that you can build your deck around activating him fairly easily and from then on he will always function without an activator and you can combo him with more stuff thanks to the lower mana cost...my main point was that if Warrior hasn't succeeded in going for a single charge finisher so far I don't see how they would fare any better now.
Unless there's some [Hearthstone Card (Bloodswon Mercenary) Not Found] type card to combo with it's literally just slightly better but equally inconsequential Grom.
If you can reasonably build a Mage deck that only has 7+ cost spells, this is insane. I'm lukewarm on the archetype for this expansion, but hoping to be surprised.
Balinda Stonehearth - Sweet card. If I understand its effect correctly, one spell will replace Balinda's attack, while the second one will replace its health. Therefore, you want to play this in a Big Spell deck, which seems to be Mage's jam in Alterac.
Iceblood Tower - I was 200% sure that Alterac would've brought us at least one big Frost spell, and it went exactly as I believed: there were just too many positive signals for it to not happen. For the spell itself, Iceblood Tower wants you to run lots of impactful stuff in your deck, and I am glad that Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron isn't in Standard anymore.
This seems to be intended for some kind of Big Spell mage that uses spells like Deep Freeze, Mask of C'Thun, Flamestrike, and maybe even Grand Finale to make sure this consistently hits good, impactful spells. Maybe that's a real deck with Celestial Ink Set and Balinda Stonehearth helping to cheat out big spells. I'm not sold on it - the whole thing looks a bit too slow right now, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
Not sure who's the lethargic devil that would downvote your question, as I was wondering the same. Let me bring back the balance here and patiently wait for a sensible answer.

If you can get this out early it's game winning and it's still powerful later on. The main issue right now is the density of big spells. Outside of Mask, Deep Freeze, Flamestrike and possibly Overflow (which isn#t all that good when cast randomly) there's nothing relevant you can pull with this....yet.
Unless you manage to get your second tower out of the first ? That would make for heavy value ... or wasteful effect that won't stack, not sure
Double Tower would definitely be sick, but again, you'd need a decent amount of big spells to make that worth it and a shell to build around it so the deck doesn't just do nothing for 5 turns.

The Lobotomizer is probably not good enough to see much play. Standard Rogue just has too many much more relevant weapons, and hand/deck spying is often a bait (just look at Chameleos). Not saying this card will never find a home, I just think there isn't enough support to merit playing it over other weapons.
it casts another copy of it. If it's the first spell to cast out of 3, then the next 2 turns it will cast 2 spells at the end of each turn, then the final 1 from the second copy.
Sounds like a card from 2019 tbh. Easy to activate, but what exactly is the point. If Control Warrior needed a finisher they'd just use Grom. It doesn't support Big Warrior by virtue of being a Battlecry so the only deck it fits into would be a non-existant Armor Warrior whose only purpose in the meta would be to beat aggro decks, in which case you don't actually need a finisher.
Maybe there's some other stuff that ties this all together, but as of yet....Grommash does the same thing essentially, even if he is more expensive.
The Lobotomizer is a New Rogue Card Revealed by Blizzard for Fractured in Alterac Valley
If rogue players are lobotomites, I dread to think what happened to everyone else :P
New Rogue Weapon - The Lobotomizer
Fun to see a classic WoW weapon, but yeah I'll never see this seeing play over Blackwater Cutlass.

New Warrior Minion - Captain Galvangar
6 mana for a slightly bigger King Krush seems really powerful, and getting up to 15 armor in a single game isn't that hard (even in Standard).

Captain Galvangar - Handbuff Warrior is a thing, and this is going to be basically a better Grommash Hellscream in there. Charge is back!

And they expect big beast hunter to work in this expansion, funny

If this can slow down Mages' build and favor bigger spells, I wouldn't be mad - like at all
Wronchi Reveals Three New Cards for Fractured in Alterac Valley
Wronchi's animations are always so intertaining!
