I think it's probably unlikely they will print anything that directly interacts with the quests in a disruptive way. Maybe they might print something that gives both players Minus Spell damage or something to raise the cost of minions or spells, but not anything like "X to your opponents quest".
Happy Oozefest everybody! I'm not completely convinced of the art pieces yet, but here's my idea. What do you think?
Bit of a throwback to Stalagg and Feugen with some Pogo-Hopper flavor mixed in. I considered making it a Rogue card, but there's too much potential for other Deathrattle classes like Priest and Hunter to make this a class card. Maybe add Rush so they have more impact the turn they're played?
As part of Eternal's next set in early November, Dire Wolf is giving 150 Expedition-legal cards to all accounts, old and new. So this may help bring in new players or for veteran players it may fill in some gaps they have in their collections. The cards cannot be dusted into shiftstone, even if duplicate.
If they dont include some quest disruption espeacilly for mage (yes I know the overall WR of quest mage is not that great) I will pass its annoying to play quest mage.
we play an aggro meta against quest hunter, quest/pirate warrior and different otk-decks. so it's absolutely shit! you're dead before playing only the half of your deathrattle cards.
There's not going to be a rogue mount spell. I think Dean said something about buff spells not being what they want in rogue. And since all mounts are buffs, I dont think its happening.
Actually, from what we've seen in previous midsets, I think its likely we'll be seeing somewhere around 4 cards that buff existing archetypes and the rest are mostly cards that can find some niche inclusion somewhere. Which will be a shame if it turns out like this, because the current meta being what it is, Im actually contemplating just leaving it altogether until next month.
What are the odd chance of us getting some quest support cards like Questing Explorer?
We've got a special competition to celebrate Oozefest 2. You can choose any (or multiple) of these three prompts for your card to follow.
Run Away!
Design a card that returns a minion to its owner's hand or deck.
Over My Dead Body
Design a card that interacts with Deathrattles.
While your card (if it's a minion or weapon) does not need to have a Deathrattle, just merely being a Deathrattle will not count. We want something more directly synergistic.
Trick or Treat?
Design a card that gives your opponent something harmful.
I'd wager that the ones missing a mount will get one in the third expac since the current ones are based off of their lv 40 variants. The third expac is when they are all lv 60 and that is when you were able to get Epic mounts.
I'll stick to rogue like I normally do (I wonder why I even bother with the other classes sometimes):
For SI:7, I don't think it actually needs many more cards since the questline is balanced on the assumption that there are the current numbers of SI:7 cards available, and it's not a bad card at all. Even so, we surely won't go through the entire Stormwind expansion without seeing Mathias Shaw, right Blizzard? So I'm going to set myself up for disappointment and predict he is one of the legendaries and he counts as an SI:7 card.
I'm not sure how much weight we should really put on mounts in the trailer, but assuming rouge does get one gizmos seem a bit too fancy for it. I am always surprised by how many straight attack buffs rogue actually gets, so I'd expect something whose buff is between that and stealth.
I agree Sketchy Information is lacking targets currently (although I do enjoy spamming Infiltrator Lilian's deathrattle), so I could see another 3 or 4 mana deathrattle for the class. In my ideal world they would bundle that up in Shaw's card, and free up a wildcard slot.
If there was a complete wildcard, maybe a pirate? Warrior has been hogging all the pirate focus for years now.
I'm also curious about whether they want secrets to be a long term thing in rogue. They are all set to rotate out next year at the moment, and if they plan on keeping them around, they're going to need to actually add a few more so next year's Core set doesn't have to carry the entire burden.
24th October update: EnDjinn's Reno Shudderwock Shaman to Legend: Beating Hunters with Skulking Geist!
The road to legend for the October season. I was facing lots of Hunters, so this deck worked out very well! A really fun grind to legend, facing a mixture of meta and off-meta decks.
To understand how Mercenaries Packs work, you can take a look at this chart made by RidiculousHat. Basically, when you get a portrait for a merc you already own even though you are missing other mercs of that rarity, it is because you highrolled on one of the four coin slots. The main slot still follows the dupe protection rules. Proof of this is that when you roll that dupe merc portrait, you also must've gotten 50 coins for a Rare merc, which was that pack's main slot.
It is needlessly complicated and confusing, yes. But it is what it is.
As for the F2P experience, I am not sure what to make of it. I have grinded for 50 hours and completed around 400 tasks, and because of the massive influx of coins I got from those tasks I ended up with an almost full collection: I am merely missing two legendary mercs. However, that was nerfed now. Pre-nerf the F2P experience was okay, but now when the grind needed has basically quadrupled, 200 hours is really just too much, so unless they revert the nerf I'd say F2P stay away.
"Critical Damage" is the formal term for the double damage you deal to the correct Role. In this case, Diablo can make anyone take double damage for that turn (including the damage from Apocalypse itself).
Wow, the economy of this game is even worse than I thought. I was already steamed about how hard it is to collect Mercs (see my comment on this article). I bought the Welcome Bundle to try to get at least a few good ones, and feel really ripped off.
I'm awfully frustrated, because I actually really like playing Mercenaries. So far, I've only played PvE since my woeful collection makes me feel like PvP would just stomp me. It would be SO much more fun if collecting Mercs was just a little bit easier. I don't need the full set, just ... not this.
I'm also aware that this is very whiny. I've been a regular spender in the main game, buying every preorder (though rarely anything more than that). That means I have a solid collection and can generally craft cards I want. Is this what it's like to be F2P? I would love to hear from some regular Hearthstone F2Players about how it compares to being F2P in Mercenaries.
