Fully focus on Emperor Thaurissan and ignore everything else on his side of the board. I don't know exactly what caused it, but something set off a bomb that triggered other bombs and blew up the entire board including all my mercs, but because I still had a merc on the bench I won. So try to bring him down by enough such that a chain reaction of bombs will kill him.
I think in this build all of Sylvanas' equipment are good, I usually send her out last which is why I didn't go for her self destruct feature, but it's definitely the better option if you like sending her out before Diablo
We'll be promoting this on the main page news feed later today. If you were with us here last year, do know that there should be more candy earned in total this year so enjoy =)
It's not just about Garrosh but it would be really helpful if you specify how many tasks it takes to obtain each equipment(I don't know why blizzard had to mix them up in the first place though). Other than that, these pages are really really helpful to me to calculate things. Thanks for the effort.
"Arcane Humans" (D1STR0Y3R) is a weird name for a party with only one Human and only one Arcane user. Actually, I can't even tell how that team is supposed to work. (I'm guessing it didn't.)
If you already own all the Mercenary Cards of the determined rarity, the reserved slot will choose a random Mercenary of the same rarity and grant a Mercenary Portrait you don’t yet own for that mercenary.
You then say this:
Why would I ever want to pull base-Sylvanas - having already owned golden-Sylvanas - when I could have instead acquired one of the three I'm missing: Ragnaros, Malfurion Stormrage, or Gul'dan?
Thus, either Blizzard is straight up lying or you don't know how to read. It says IF YOU OWN ALL THE MERCENARY CARDS OF THE DETERMINED RARITY, meaning if you still need Ragnaros, Malfurion, whatever, then you clearly DO NOT OWN all of the mercenary cards of the determined rarity. And thus, the stuff about the portraits would not follow. None of this makes any sense.
First off, GREAT article. Really enjoyed reading through it.
I've been playing F2P (except for the $5 bundle), and have been loving the new mode. I am a grinder at heart, so I have not minded repeating low level heroics to get specific coins, etc and targeting the Mysterious Stranger on a smaller map.
I did not realize that lame mechanic about pack opening (the possibility of opening a portrait for a Merc you own before a brand new one of the same rarity). I've just opened up too few packs to experience that for myself.
I tried it last night, and I quit playing after the very first level (the one with Hogger as the boss). I found it boring and simplistic, from the gameplay to the aesthetics. Seriously, the background/environment looks very plain, almost like it's an unfinished game that was simply rushed to completion. The fact that others here are saying that there's a lot to criticize yet it's very addictive is a massive red flag for me; that's the hallmark of a predatory game, and I don't want to fall for it.
I'll give it another try in the coming days, but as it stands, it's just not very interesting. It bored me so much that it made me go back to playing Standard even though this meta is my least favorite ever, which is saying something.
I'm surprised by how much I like it. I tried to go in without any expectations but was fairly curious about this new mode nonetheless. Today I finished the PVE on normal and I'm still excited to play heroic, though I don't have many mercs and I want to go in with a (preferably entirely) different party.
I enjoyed figuring out what mercs work well together with the limited resources I have, trying out different parties, and occasionally swapping in a new merc. Ultimately, I settled with Cariel, Cornelius, Xyrella, Millhouse, Samuro, and Scabbs. No epics or legendaries. I do have some, but I felt like they all need specific builds that required other mercs that I don't have.
I also liked the feeling of progression while leveling my mercs and upgrading their abilities and completing tasks to acquire coins and equipment. As of now, it didn't feel like grinding, but that might come soon once I got stuck on finding a new team for heroic when I get stuck playing heroic or maybe once heroic is also done and I don't know what to do next. Grinding for coin to craft new mercs? Maybe, I guess we'll see.
Is the mode perfect? No, far from it! I agree with most of the critique all of you have already mentioned, but apparently that doesn't make me not enjoy this mode.
Extra from what others said above, my gripes with the game include the grindiness of the mode (coupled with the wasted time in menus and such), and the fact that the meta was already solved in pvp apparently. The latter point doesn't affect me since i'm gonna stick to just pve most likely, but it's a clear way to take a lot of fun out of the game for some.
Also, the fact that we don't have specific quest screens/branches for the main game modes (hs+arena+brawl, BGs, Mercs) is really annoying. Being limited to 3 dailies/weeklies that can be totally random is just sad. 1 more permanent slot for each game mode would've been nice to have, and the ability to complete the quests in any mode, FROM LAUNCH.
Or simply have a different number of quests for each mode, with the ability to complete them in any mode (maybe with some exceptions).
then I understood it incorrectly, i thought I would get the first one in the 10 packs and another one in the next 20 packs, didnt knew it is the same pity timer as regular packs (hearthstone card packs)
Accidently went into top-100 EU on Friday with ~6800. Stopped playing since I get only around +30/-100 per each win/lose. It makes sense to wait a couple of days (weeks?) before returning to play, since I just don't care about ratings — only about chests.
When i opened my first 10 packs, my first legendary wasnt a new merc... No No. Instead i got a Grommash Hellscream portrait! As you might guess, i'm certainly NOT a fan of portraits! Personally i only like portraits as long as you have every merc of a specific rarety already, but i really HATE the fact that you can get portraits while your still missing a bunch of mercs.
Also literally that grommash portrait was in my first packs, and i didn't buy any pre-orders! Considering there are 16 legendary mercs (including Grommash) i must have been very unlucky with that... annoying... legendary portrait in the first 10 packs. As some might understand, i had a very bad first impression of mercenaries because of this. But i'm warming up on the mode after that horrible start.
Oozefest 2
This was the highlight of that reveal stream though. I'm sure Kibler remembers it like it was yesterday... 🤣
Quest Trading - Play A Friend!
Battletag: Szafirmag#2937
Region: EU
Trade Only?: Yes
Can't do dailys in casual.
For me the issue is intermittent in casual, some games count, some don't.
For example, the noz quest, I had a play hunter and that quest.
It's pretty annoying TBH, you are forced to play more games just to complete.
I also experienced this for my Stormwind Questlines weekly quest.
Uther
Dehumanisation of the enemy! Typical war tactic, Uther's a soldier after all

I have tried with various level 30 parties, but with no success? Any hint ? Tks

Can't do dailys in casual.
But I can do quests in Mercs now. I just finished a "play cards" quest.
I have a problem loading a deck
We have a party builder
https://outof.cards/hearthstone/mercenaries/party-builder/
And community created parties database
https://outof.cards/hearthstone/mercenaries/parties/
There is no ability to import or export parties in Hearthstone Mercenaries, so we don't have this functionality.
If this doesn't help, could you please be more specific about your question? Thanks!

Where do I load a Hearthstone deck in mercenary mode from? I searched all over the site, but found nothing.

Overall, enjoying the new mode.
So what does everyone think?

Mercs have the guaranteed legendary in your first 10 packs, but after that there is NO pity timer.

If you spent time upgrading a mercenary for pvp you probably don't need coins for it anymore.

Everyone eceives Gromash for free, so he just got a new portrait for a merc he owns instead of a new merc
Good, Bad, and Ugly: Our First Impressions of Hearthstone Mercenaries
You can still use it though, right? So what's the difference between owning the portrait without the actual Merc? What's the downside, if any?
