Damn, those event rewards are pretty good. 4 epics guaranteed. Also the removal of blizzard bots is big news. I would rather wait an extra minute than play a rather pointless game.
Ugh I'm pissed Duels is gone because it was a carefree wild way to play and was my main mode. This change is going to just make arena worse with the main problem in duels: you draw the right card off the bat when there's no answer and 1-2 turn snowball wins the game. In arena if someone drops grimmer patron going first on turn 3 it's probably an auto win nearly every time.
I do like the legendary first though and it'd be nicer if they put the treasure second (and hell gave you 3 of them for more consistency rather than draw it and win).
I never realized your scores were this amazing. I always though people from https://lqelighting.com/ were average, But surely, you are one of the pros.
Yes, its basically powercreeping so hard that manatide totem would be nothing more than a meme.
However, this card would likely still never see play because why would it? Drawing a card and gaining 2 armor for 2 mana? Why not just play Shield Block instead? Only real niche it has is a shaman card because of synergies and even then i'd still be leering at it from a corner.
The only card from paladin/shaman related to excavate that's good, and that includes the payoff.
Because this card would find itself into any aggro-based deck never mind the excavate effect, which is a neat bonus. You'd probably try to build an excavate aggro/elemental shaman around this card because why not? Unlike Digging Straight Down, at very least this card synergizes with what an excavate shaman/paladin probably would want to do anyway.
Just a terrible card. But in the end, youre probably forced to play it regardless if you aim to play excavate in shaman, not that Im all that optimistic about that prospect outside of highlander, because if I have to be honest the payoff in azerite murloc is not only weak, its probably unplayable.
Ironically in decks where you would want to play excavate to take advantage of the murloc payoff, which is a cheap aggro deck 90% of the time, you probably would be spitting bile at this card's direction because its even more terrible there than it would otherwise be.
Wouldn't be surprised if this gets buffed to 3. Because its unplayable otherwise.
Its gonna see play, but it'll never realistically be a good card that can carry a class the same way cards like Bellowing Flames can
As it stands, even Immolation Aura sees no play in dhunter even when they are good. Not to mention that aggro these days tend to be fairly absurd in terms of reload, and give you little to no time to prepare your AoEs.
In other words, its a decent card that will make highlander lists and control tryhards but in practice would perhaps never justify its inclusion.
Would have been better if it has rush/taunt, would be better if it was discover a bonus effect.
Instead what we have here is a card thats only really playable should you somehow choose to play excavate cards in pally. Outside of that, I cant see it. Playing a 4 mana card that 50% of the time does nothing on board doesnt fill anyone with confidence, let alone in a class that lives and dies by the state of the board.
Its playable in shaman because shaman doesnt really have lots of removal options that basically nuke the opponent's board regardless of conditions. In pally however, its a hit and miss simply because I cant see a world where paladin plays excavate cards nor can I see a world where they need removal as strong as this one.
Still a strong card that needs to be respected, but I feel its not good enough a payoff to start playing excavate in both classes, but allowances would be made to shaman more so than paladin.
It was silliness of me to think like that tho, Plaguespreader transformed Vashj into another Plaguespreader it is probably due to rulesets of handbuff etc. but it would be so cool if she would summon it instead. I would like to try The Stars Align too but i need someone with Vashj for that in duel mode.
It's a solid reward for Excavate Paladin...but what about Shaman? If you play The Azerite Murloc before Finley, Finley will be Evolved and his effect lost. But the longer you wait on the ultimate payoff, the less opportunities you have to benefit from the Mana-cheating. Not to mention all the other synergistic minions you'll be transforming.
You're taking a deck that wants cohesiveness and turning it into randomness; that is pretty stupid anti-synergy.
It's like Blast Charge in-that you can't really get going without quickly finding a suitable target. If you're saving it for lethal shenanigans, the Excavate is A. a waste, and/or B. must come from somewhere else to reach the Dragon in a reasonable timeframe.
Not the best Excavate card in my opinion. You'd want to get to your Azerite Murloc quickly to run them down with Evolved minions, but it might take forever to find a suitable target...or you're blasting something small, which is a gigantic waste.
A smaller cost (with less damage) would have been more preferable; like a modern Stormcrack.
The Azerite Murloc is Evolving ALL of your minions: that includes the ones in hand and in your deck. The cost-retention means that a 2-Cost Kobold Miner would become a random 5-Cost minion, but still cost 2 to play. Like Deck of Lunacy, but for minions.

The artwork looks very similar to HS so I thought it was a new card reveal or something related to HS 😅 but keen to give this game a try

Ha! That red dragon looks like the one from a show called Delicious in the Dungeon I watched yesterday 😁
New Shaman Minion - Needlerock Totem
RIP Mana Tide Totem
Yes, its basically powercreeping so hard that manatide totem would be nothing more than a meme.
However, this card would likely still never see play because why would it? Drawing a card and gaining 2 armor for 2 mana? Why not just play Shield Block instead? Only real niche it has is a shaman card because of synergies and even then i'd still be leering at it from a corner.

The only card from paladin/shaman related to excavate that's good, and that includes the payoff.
Because this card would find itself into any aggro-based deck never mind the excavate effect, which is a neat bonus.

Would have been better if it has rush/taunt, would be better if it was discover a bonus effect.

Playing a 4 mana card that 50% of the time does nothing on board doesnt fill anyone with confidence, let alone in a class that lives and dies by the state of the board.
New Paladin Minion - Sir Finley, the Intrepid
Its playable in shaman because shaman doesnt really have lots of removal options that basically nuke the opponent's board regardless of conditions. In pally however, its a hit and miss simply because I cant see a world where paladin plays excavate cards nor can I see a world where they need removal as strong as this one.

Delve Into Deepholm Reveals - Day 4
Well, that was a fast test on practice mode.
JIVE, INSECT! and Hex summoned Ragnaros the Firelord and the Frog tho. Probably Polymorph also would summon Sheep since it works like Hex.
Delve Into Deepholm Reveals - Day 4
I would love Baroness Vashj could summon 7-cost minions from hand due to a bug. :D
or maybe it is intended ? She can never be transformed i guess. Did anyone tried to Polymorph or Hex her ?
or i can test it with JIVE, INSECT! or even Plaguespreader for hand stuff i guess.
Delve Into Deepholm Reveals - Day 4
Yaaay armor for everyone, first priest now Shaman, let's break class identity even more...
Also , Mana Tide Totem cries in the corner
Delve Into Deepholm Reveals - Day 4
The Stars Align would be better comparison.
The Azerite Murloc = The Stars Align + for deck and battlefield.
New Paladin Minion - Sir Finley, the Intrepid
It's a solid reward for Excavate Paladin...but what about Shaman? If you play The Azerite Murloc before Finley, Finley will be Evolved and his effect lost. New Warrior Spell - Aftershocks
"Let the handbuffing and Armor gain commence!" - Warrior, probably.
New Paladin Spell - Shroomscavate
It's like Blast Charge in-that you can't really get going without quickly finding a suitable target. If you're saving it for lethal shenanigans, the Excavate is A. a waste, and/or B. must come from somewhere else to reach the Dragon in a reasonable timeframe.
It's even worse for the Shaman, as neither this or Digging Straight Down are immediately playable like say, Cryopreservation or Reap What You Sow.
New Shaman Spell - Digging Straight Down
Not the best Excavate card in my opinion. You'd want to get to your Azerite Murloc quickly to run them down with Evolved minions, but it might take forever to find a suitable target...or you're blasting something small, which is a gigantic waste.

I am confused by the "keeping their original cost" text on the Azerite Murloc. What are they trying to say?
