Of course! With eviolite around I suspect they cannot actually give shuckle an evolution. Could you imagine it with 50% higher defenses? Amusing as it might be, effective base 345 defenses might be a bit too much...
Yeah, then Fandom bought and got rid of it all. Morons. I've see a lot of Curse peeps leave over the past few months too which is kinda impressive that Fandom really managed to kill everything that company was worth.
Gov definitely wouldn't pursue anyone over a small giveaway. If they did, I think Twitch streamers would be in a lot of shit :D
Although I guess the plan was to rotate the Duels heroes, and I'd assume that time is approaching so maybe Mana Wyrms aren't going to be relevant there.
I'm not sure I would call that change on Mana Wyrm a revert, it's much worse than its original version. It used to be able to challenge all 1-drops and survive with the potential to snowball, and now it's very hard to justify its inclusion since it's much more likely to get immediately removed. On the other hand, Wyrm Weaver costing 1 mana less should make it more playable.
Since the introduction of the reward track and there being a limit to it (level 350) I somehow succeeded to trick myself into thinking I have to finish it. In the past, I could not care less of earning the maximum amount of 100 gold by winning 30 matches per day.
The biggest drawback of the reward track is that MUCH more time is required to reach the same amount of gold. I'm not even exaggerating if I would say that that time expenditure is at least doubled or perhaps more.
As for potentially skipping on the pre-orders, you are right about catching up would be more difficult later on. I think the Fear Of Missing Out feeling has become a real issue for me.
If I would skip the latest druid hero portrait, it would be the very first limited available one I would not own. That's a seemingly more difficult decision to make. I actually don't think the art is particularly beautiful, but it's FOMO all over again.
IMO, my stash of gold is not super high nor low. I will end up with 16585 gold tomorrow without the possibility to earn more gold before the new reward track starts with the next expansion. In the past, I would spend all the gold on expansion launch day and start accumulating gold from scratch once more. Rinse and repeat with every single expansion.
According to my spreadsheet with data collected from the past 6 years of me playing Hearthstone, I usually open 110 packs with gold on average. With the mini-set being a regular thing now, I have to set aside another 2000 gold because I see no incentive to spend real money on that. Thus, along with the pre-orders and freebies I open about 300 packs each expansion in total and that still is not enough to get me a complete set even with the legendary and epic duplicates protection.
With the information above, I should be able to accurately calculate which reward track level I have to reach everytime to not go down gold wise. I'm too tired right now to do the exact math though. Maybe next time.
Playing Hearthstone almost feels like a chore these days which is not a good feeling at all and I only have myself to blame for it. I just hope the FOMO feeling has not already silently turned into a Sunken Cost Fallacy for me.
On-topic again; I reached level 348… so close, but no cigar yet!
And now look at the #1 EU spot, basically a 9 avg :D I mean there is a chance that most of those guys up top "gamed" the system a little bit, played a few (possibly 11-12 runs) and only after getting a few in a row, they completed the 30 consecutive run mark to boost the overall avg. Either way tho, their skill level is crazy, scoring that high definitely goes beyond just RNG, you need to know how to meet RNG half way :)
Above 8 is insane. I have been around an average of 6 in the past, maybe close to 7 at my peak but all above that is so insanely hard to reach, it’s unbelievable. +1 on average means that these guys find a way to squeeze in one more win EVERY RUN. How?!?! I just can’t imagine the average person doing so many game losing(!!!) mistakes. Or do these guys have some drafting secrets that mere mortals don’t understand?
Going off-topic again, I'm still wondering if I should keep investing in this game. Never ever has it taken this long for me to buy the preorder bundles, happens usually within 24 hours of becoming available. There is plenty of time to buy them though. By the way, it is not even the monetary value that is bothering me. I have a decently paid job and the money I spent on HS is not relevant at all.
Well, first, it's weird to call it an investment. Any money you sink into Hearthstone would more accurately be classified as an expenditure.
Like you, I used to buy the preorders immediately, but more recently I wait until I've seen a reasonable number of cards from the set (many more than we've seen of Barrens so far). That doesn't mean I'm not interested or am any less likely to pre-purchase -- the sheer value of the offers is too good to pass up, and I know I'll have to spend a LOT more if I try to catch up later.
But if you've maxed out the reward track, you are sitting on a mountain of gold, so maybe you simply don't need to spend any cash at all. I don't know if you try to "collect 'em all" they way I do, but if not, I suspect you will be able to get by just fine on the gold. Maybe you just get the reward pass for cosmetics and the XP boost, and that's good enough.
I guess the question is: How much do you want that Hamuul Runetotem portrait? If I had your gold and didn't care about the portrait, i would not buy.
Thanks for ruining my day with a dose of reality and proper reading comprehension! LOL Also, I love your profile picture. If you're going to be named after the best Pokémon of all time (indisputable, btw) then you better have great art to go along with it, and you do!
Thanks. You wouldn't think an acrobatic blood elf would make a very good hybrid with a barely-mobile worm in a rock, but it turns out they're a perfect match! I think it was largely to do with them having very similar colour palettes.
Since you're a fellow shuckle fan you may be interested to hear I prepend it with 'angry' for a reason very close to the present discussion: an angry shuckle simply hasn't got the attack stats to change the situation it is in, so the best it can do is calm down and make the most of what it has got. It sounds a bit defeatist until you remember shuckle learns Power Trick, making it the single most powerful Pokemon when it wants to be. Leaving yourself with a measly base 10 defense along with base 5 speed and base 20 HP isn't a risk to take lightly though, so best to hold off until something really gets your gogoat!
The nerdiest part of all of it though is the use of an 'i' instead of an 'l' in Shuckie. There's some seriously morally grey stuff surrounding that particular shuckle. I'm not sure what that means for my online name, but I like to think I'll come up with something deep for it some day. :)
In the past, when Basic cards were sent to Wild via Hall of Fame we saw them become Common rarity cards which could then be Disenchanted. One perfect example is Mind Blast, which I have the regular copies of still, but disenchanted the golden copies.
I was not aware of this, and I'm actually very surprised to learn that it worked that way. My guess is that they did not have the code in place for non-disenchantable Basic cards to exist in the Hall of Fame, so they just remade them as normal cards. That may have been less time-consuming than the alternative, and worth the small amount of free dust they'd be giving away.
As the consensus of this conversation has indicated, there's no way that's happening this time around, especially given the wording of the announcement. They very specifically said Classic and golden DH Initiate cards would be disenchantable and avoided saying the same about Basic (and non-golden DH Initiate).
However I kind of hope they are just to clean out my collection a bit. I dislike having 4 copies of the basic cards. I'm always going to use the shiny ones so why are the non-golden ones stuck there. Even if they disenchanted for zero dust I'd do it!
I'm not stressing over it, Shuckle. I'm honestly not. And you make good points. My feelings are likely more of my own expectations being wrong than anything else. But I can't blame myself for my anger now can I?! :)
I was looking forward to all this free dust I thought we might get so I could potentially craft some Wild legendaries I missed back in the day when I didn't play as much. Not a ton, but a few from the GvG and TGT era that I can likely still craft anyway as I have over 16,000 dust right now anyway. Cards like Dr. Boom, even though he doesn't really see play anymore. That and they were talking about making cosmetics craftable so having a big boon of dust to use if/when that happens would have been nice too.

Why not just leave the Mana Wyrm alone if they wanted people to play with them? Making them 1/2 is virtually unplayable.
