You’re right, it’s not a nerf.  I changed it to say change.  From the perspective of odd shaman specifically it is a nerf though. 

"Later this year" - seems to have replaced "Soon" ™️ 

Every time this Ben guy refers to when the change is coming he says this instead of being more specific. I don't know how the Core-set can be "later this year" when it has already been said when the new Expansion hits it comes into play..

You could see Tidal Surge in the player's hand while they were showcasing Strength Totem. It also has Lifesteal now. I think it's safe to assume that's another Core card now.

This one can be potentially dangerous. One of the main reasons for playing ysera at all was always to get the better dream card like Dream, or Ysera Awakens. Now this straight up guarantee it. If there's even a single charge minion left in the core set along with Faceless Manipulator, it could easily be a win on turn 10.

The only thing stopping this card is that its 9 mana. But if there's ever a meta that allows it, I can't see why this card will get the snubbed. The bar for 9-10 cost cards to entry is now as high as this version of ysera.

Did you ever play odd shaman in wild?  Please be honest.  The whole archetype is based on stacking spell damage totems and high burst from spells using all the spell damage you stacked.  A main card you mulligan for that gives the archetype power is Arcane Watcher, and without the spell damage totem you cannot activate it consistently anymore.  When you play odd shaman to choose a totem to summon, most of the time you are choosing the spell damage totem.  So if you actually played odd shaman you would realize how big of a nerf this is to the archetype.  By the way saying mmkay sounds snarky and not nice, I try to be nice on this forum even if I disagree with someone and I don’t think that language is helpful.

Now we need to memorize spell tribes as well? Only time can tell, but its going to be somewhat confusing at first since most spells don't really look all that different from the rest. Maybe team5 made it more obvious by their art, but we'll see.

Not so glad to see a nerf to shaman's totems. Its already bad enough to juggle between 4 totems randomly, now even the best one's no longer available.

How about we wait for more information or metrics before doomsaying archetypes?  Mmkay?

They really just killed mage in duels and left druid untouched, rip. Super hyped for core set though!

They destroyed the competitive viability of the archetype of odd shaman in wild with the Air Totem change.

Ysera the Dreamer seems like a big winner. Play her and immediately sap something for 0 1 mana, or push 5 damage to the face if there's something on board. Really impressed, especially given that the power levels of the card isn't shit, at least that's a good sign that he core cards likely won't be as well.

Not sure what to do with new malygos yet. Deathwing the Destroyer looks more like a powerful tech card for classes like rogue or druid. Since they withheld new Alexstrasza, it must be really something. Can't wait to see it.

oh, so now we got spell tribes aswell ?

That was one of my expansion ideas before we all were in pwn but i had imagined it like class specializations; for example Balance Druid.

But i really liked it this way. So, I wonder we will get all of them or those will be spared to whole year. Also I wonder how they will tribe combat related spells like Execute. Physical maybe ?

And I liked how Spell Damage also affected from it. Nature Spell Damage or Shadow Spell Damage seems cool and opens some space for deckbuilding.

Other than that, I'm happy to see a real Warcraft related expansion and expecting better direction with new core set stuff.

Well that change to High Abbess Alura was certainly not expected, given that the deck will certainly die off on its own when cards rotate. Its certainly not really all that different compared with Prismatic Lens previously.

I hope High Abbess Alura is unnerfed eventually, I was having so much fun with her in prelate paladin as a highroll option for buff spells.  She is definitely not too powerful in wild so it’s another case of a card that is a cool option for wild decks but not in any high meta decks for wild being nerfed because of standard, similar to what happened with Dinotamer Brann.
