  • 7 Tips for Maximizing your Runeterra Collection

Tips like these are great and eventually you get to a point where you just have abundant ressources.

I have all cards except 48 rares, and I have: 87531 shards, 18 champion, 15 epic, 43 rare and 78 common wild cards. And lastly I have 28 expedition tokens and I have played quite a lot expedition since they released prismatic cards. And this is the collection of a casual player; I can only imagine people who grind this game has way more than me.

I started playing a week before Rising Tides was released and back then I bought some cards to get started with the game. Since then I have been able to craft whatever I wanted, and I can probably craft the entire upcoming expansion.

The economy in this game is just awesome!

Was Hysteria supposed to give full dust refund? I was under the impression it was a nerf?

I wouldn't dust a rare anyway but just feels like a bug.

It never alerted me of the nerf like usual, but the card was/is disenchantable for full value (looking on PC)

  • Ever feel intimidated?

    Intimidated? Nah.

But that opponent with the 1,000 wins portrait and the legendary cardback who is rocking Secret Mage in Casual Wild - that one leaves me irritated.

    Quote From OldManSanns

I suspect part of that may be because it was so revolutionary when it was originally released but not so much now 30+ years later -- I find a lot of Alan Moore's work like that.)

While this is certainly true for some of his work, I find that the absolute standouts - Watchmen and From Hell - grow on every re-read for me.

My recommendations, if you're interested in crime comics at all, would be:

    • The work by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips, especially Sleeper (if you're more into superheroes) and the aptly titled Criminal - great characters, a dark mood and artwork that perfectly supports it
    • Darwyn Cooke's adaptions of Donald Westlake's Parker - hard-boiled anti-hero protagonist, absolutely stylish artwork

The problem was never my phone app, but my computer. When I log in through my phone, all is there. It is when I try to log in through my computer that it is all gone. But never mind, I just play with my phone now.

You're missing the point.  As others stated, you are using a pseudo account on mobile.  It's better to figure out how to convert that into a real bnet account if possible.  Otherwise at some point your collection WILL go missing permanently because you have to switch to a new phone.

Does it make a difference that both my iPhone and mac are new? I am failing to see why the phone login kept it all and the computer login didn't, no matter what I tried to do.

I will try to reconnect with Blizzard again.

The important question is do you have an email and password to log into your account on your phone?

If you do, then make sure the region is set the same on both your phone and your computer, and that it is for sure the same email

If you do not have a password to sign into Hearthstone on your phone, then it is highly likely that your "account" is the type of account I've been talking about, where the phone just silently creates a guest account for you that only that phone knows how to sign into, meaning your collection would be stuck on that phone until you create a full account from that

I got 2 legendaries from my free packs! The dual-class Druid-Hunter one, Shando, from Scholomance, and Maxima the Hunter legendary from Darkmoon Faire! Definitely worth the time I wouldn't normally spend in Duels.

I was offered & bought the $30 bundle (2/35). My 2 Legendary cards were Greybough & Moonfang. My pity timer lined up in that I opened 2 Legendaries in the 35 packs. They were High Exarch Yrel & Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate.

Another known issue: I was just OTK’d by a Mozaki Mage on turn 8 where he drew his entire deck and dealt 40+ damage to me.
    definitely not healthy

Well spotted! Thank you for pointing that out, it should have been explained better.

  • Mastering Runeterra's Pick and Ban Gauntlet in January 2021 - Great Decks to Play!

    A couple corrections:

Achieving 7 wins rewards players with Prime Glory - a free win for the Last Chance Gauntlet at the end of the season.

You can retry as often as you want, and any 7-win run goes on your record as a “Glory”. However, you only earn a “Prime Glory” if you can do it on your first attempt of the weekend.

Get 7 wins in a row and reap the rewards!

Getting 7 wins in a row is satisfying, but doesn’t give you any bonuses. (At least, not that I know of.) To achieve Glory, you want to win 7 times without ever getting 2 losses in a row. The only special exception is that you get a single chance to earn your seventh win.

I agree with the comment made that if you are not a whale it is a great deal. Who knows what synergies await when the next expansion comes out. If you are a whale, do not bother investing.

If you are a whale, you bought it the moment it was available and are laughing at all the weird logic in this silly thread.

  • Hearthstone's "Happy New Year" Legendary Quests Are Live! Earn Card Packs for Battlegrounds, Duels, and Ranked Play

I play both Standard and Wild, and I definitely agree with you that Wild gets less attention than other game modes. I do want to point out a couple reasons why Blizzard is incentivized to promote Standard over Wild, though.

    1) By its very nature, Standard incentivizes longtime players to acquire more cards than Wild does. Even though Wild decks definitely still incorporate new stuff, the percentage of cards per Wild deck from the most recent expansion is inherently lower than in Standard decks. Blizzard, by its very nature as a for-profit company, is incentivized to maximize profits. By encouraging players to acquire more new cards as opposed to working with cards they already have (i.e. play more Standard than Wild), Blizzard maximizes the money spent on the game.

    2) Hearthstone Esports use Standard format. I would surmise that encouraging players toward Wild could/would prevent at least some potential esports competitors from ever making it into the competitive pipeline because they end up maining Wild. Research would obviously need to be conducted to determine whether that number would be large enough to actually have an effect on the pipeline, but it does make logical sense that it would have at least some impact on the number of players being funneled into competitive Hearthstone. (And unfortunately, although I do believe Wild would definitely work as a competitive format, I don't think Blizzard will ever introduce it as another league or another division of Grandmasters because it has less potential entertainment value--the competitive meta in an evergreen format like Wild would likely change far less than the meta does in a rotating format like Standard. "Freshness" drives curiosity--it's how our brains' reward systems are wired--and curiosity means greater engagement, and greater engagement means more people spending money on the game/more money from advertisers. For a for-profit company whose primary goal is to maximize profits, Standard is the only way to go when it comes to esports. Incidentally, this is also probably why Blizzard funnels players toward Duels, Battlegrounds, and even Arena [before they deleted that quest] but not Wild.)

The morality of this profit-above-all motivation is obviously up for debate, but the point that Blizzard has little to no incentive to funnel players toward Wild still stands, regardless of the morality of pure capitalism. So I would ultimately say that the intention of treating Wild players as second-rate consumers has almost certainly never crossed Blizzard's collective mind; rather, what drives the decisions of Blizzard shot-callers is a commitment to maximizing profits for Blizzard and its shareholders. The Hearthstone devs clearly love the game and pour their heart and soul into making the game they love as good as it can be--they even engage with and listen to the HS community, which, while we may have come to expect and/or demand it, is something they definitely don't owe to us! However, Blizzard investors don't care about Hearthstone--they care about maximizing the value of their investments. And because Blizzard investors care most about Hearthstone's profitability, Blizzard brass also cares most about maximizing Hearthstone's profitability. Until Wild becomes more profitable than Standard, Blizzard will direct the dev teams to funnel players toward Standard, and there's not really anything we or the Hearthstone devs can do about it.

  • Hearthstone's "Happy New Year" Legendary Quests Are Live! Earn Card Packs for Battlegrounds, Duels, and Ranked Play

Rough set of quests for anyone who does not enjoy the variety of modes offered for Hearthstone play! Speaking for myself, I would be happy to never "have" to play another battleground or duel ever again. And if wild or casual is your bag you're left entirely in the cold.

  • Comics (aka Graphic Novels)

    And bookmarked!

Had this comic cross my way a couple of times. Was always on the fence about buying that one, because I never really heard much about it. But if it's better than Hush, I'll be on the lookout for it. The only thing that I didn't really like about Hush was the ending. Wasn't really satisfied with that.

And about Killing Joke: I enjoyed the Story, and that's although I'm not really a fan of the Joker.  I often feel like the writers don't do that much with the character outside of this whole "different sides of the same coin" with batman. Killing Joke has that too, but at least they're trying to give him more of a personality and some emotions, and don't just go with the "constantly laughing chaotic maniac, because everything's a joke".

What I did not enjoy much about the comic was the art. I can't really put my finger on it, but for some reason I just can't stand Brian Boland's style.

OK, recommendations (disclaimer, some of these will be on the "dated"/ or plain racist side of things) but Ducktales is based off of his universe:

Fantagraphic's the Complete Carl Barks Disney library volume 12: Only a Poor Old Man

This is absolutely the best Carl Bark's collection out there. I don't care what you say about Lost in the Andes... I disagree. I prefer the kindle version of these books because now I have over 1600 pages of Carl Bark's on my phone to keep me busy whenever I have to wait.

    ---

If you want some more recommendations from this collection it would be:

    A Christmas for Shacktown

    Trail of the Unicorn

    Lost in the Andes

    The Seven Cities of Gold

    The Pixlated Parrot

    The Twenty-Four Carrot Moon

    Christmas on Bear Mountain....

(the list goes on and on because Carl Barks worked on these comics relentlessly in three decades from 1940s into 1960s)

  • Community Roundup of Known Issues in Hearthstone Patch 19.4.1 - Duels, Battlegrounds, iOS

It's probably the most serious bug to date, things like that weren't happening before this patch. I worry that with them pushing the patch late on Thursday it might go unchecked over the weekend. Definitely the last thing we need when Duels need all the support it could get.

It is not a good look for the development team, no doubt about it. It seems they are seriously undermanned, with Iksar mentioning the same people are responsible for Duels, Brawls, Book of Heroes, etc. The game mode could use its own devoted group to get it up to scratch.

  • Ever feel intimidated?

    Quote From MurlocAggroB
    Quote From anchorm4n

I wouldn't call it intimidation, but I do acknowledge 1.000 win portraits in some kind of "okay, you're dealing with an expert here, be careful" kind of way.

I dunno. I had a 1,000 win Demon Hunter nuke his entire board with a Shardshatter Mystic a few months ago, letting me win the game.

1,000 wins is just time spent playing, not time spent playing well.

No one is saying 1,000 wins makes you infallible. But, knowing nothing else about two players, which one are you going to bet real money on: the one with 1,000 wins or the one with all golden cards and not even 500 wins?
