  • Hearthstone's "Happy New Year" Legendary Quests Are Live! Earn Card Packs for Battlegrounds, Duels, and Ranked Play

Oh darn... free stuff?  I love it.  I hate having to play Battlegrounds, but I'll gladly do it for this reward.

  • Community Roundup of Known Issues in Hearthstone Patch 19.4.1 - Duels, Battlegrounds, iOS

I understand duels is still in beta and needs some TLC to be brought up to snuff, but bugs like the one in the screenshot where your opponent is starting with 40 life and 2 treasures is utterly ridiculous and part of the reason there aren't many playing duels.  They really need to buckle down and fix the glaring issues (balance problems can take a back seat to crashes, unintended matchmaking problems like the one above, and other more serious issues).

I don't normally "blizzard bash" cause I find it usually a waste of time, energy, and brain cells by any who indulge in it...but Duels has been out for quite awhile now.  They really need to be focusing on getting the game mode out of beta at this point.  Whomever is in charge of prioritizing things for Hearthstone needs a re-evaluation, or needs to be let go so someone better can fill their shoes.

    Pro

The difference being that newer players literally CANNOT play wild unless they own some wild cards (someone please correct me if I'm wrong about that). I agree that Blizzard should support wild more, but it's clear that they can't offer rewards that not everyone is able to access ... and who needs free packs more than new players?

I primarily play on mobile, and I have been having the iOS login issues for about a week. I haven’t been reinstalling the game each time, but I just come back to it when I can and usually it works again after a while. Very frustrating, especially because there aren’t other connectivity issues at our house.

Edit: I did report this on the official Blizzard forums.

  • NicMakesPlays' Zoe & Diana Invoke Deck List & Guide - Runeterra Deck Spotlight

Took out a Frostbite deck this morning. Yeah, they REALLY want to kill Zoe, and that is not how this wins most of the time. Can't be afraid to RuinationBADCARDNAME your own wide board.

You know what I like about free packs? Everything.

  • Hearthstone's "Happy New Year" Legendary Quests Are Live! Earn Card Packs for Battlegrounds, Duels, and Ranked Play

The issue I have is not with playing ranked. It's that they're forcing Wild players to scrap a deck just so they can queue for Standard. Wouldn't have been hard to make it Play 5 Games of Ranked. Hell, if we're all about catering to all play modes (Battlegrounds, Duels, Constructed), where's the next quest after that: Play 5 Games of Ranked Wild? Kinda tired of how obvious they are at treating Wild players as second rate citizens while choosing not to incentivise Standard players to occasionally try Wild as well. Wild players get dragged over to Standard but never the other way around.

  • Snowpocalypse

Finally! I'd bet that I already hitted evrybody on Norden faction and I'm pretty sure I hit him more than once because the lightning theme and his look-like. Anyway the last one is on my pokedex. Thanks a lot, here is a snowball as a payment :)

Just like with all the new quests, instaconceding matches will count, so if you really dislike playing Ranked you are not forced to.

Play 5 games of Standard Ranked.

    Bleh.

Deathstrider didn't exactly crash but did cause a disconnect for me...

  • A Wonderful Mythgardian Winter Wonderland Word Search Activity

These are great. I had longwinter and winterwolf sharing the winter.

  • A Wonderful Mythgardian Winter Wonderland Word Search Activity

in fact ... arcticpyre was quite tricky :)

  • Snowpocalypse

    For the mythgard hint:

    Show Spoiler
So the dude basically looks like Thor with a weird haircut, he's a hero in the Norden Faction

As for the hidden achievement, I have no idea how I got it and it still shows as a hidden achievement x_x I find you have to hit the OoC employees to get some of these achievements

  • A Wonderful Mythgardian Winter Wonderland Word Search Activity

Thanks for these chilly word searches Flux and OoC. That ArticPyre was quite elusive ❄❄

  • Snowpocalypse

I'm really stucked with "The last person to ask him if his grandfather is Santa got hit by a few million watts."

I hoped that with the crosswords of Mythgard I'll manage to find the solution but still nothing, any clue for somebody that never played this game before?

On the other hand I'm pretty curious about how you gain the secret achievement "Get Off MySnowbank!" I think that I'm missing something, the description itself reminds me about something regarding snowball bank but maybe is there a missing interaction I miss? I even tried throwing back a snowball to the last one that hits me but nothing happens. A little hint could also helps, I don't want to miss this achievement when event is over :(

  • Monks and Death Knights? No New Hearthstone Class is Planned for at Least the Next 2 Years

It wouldn't have to share the bouncing mechanic with rogue, though I agree it makes too much sense for the class to not do it.

I'm not sure how comparable the two classes are in WoW, but certainly in D&D they are a good case of 'convergent evolution', where their abilities are often fundamentally different but in practice they achieve a very similar thing (allowing for variation in role-playing of course).

Yeah, now I think about it, maybe Hearthstone would benefit more from adding a completely new class that doesn't have so much in common with existing classes. The Bard is the obvious choice, because they can do what they like to turn music and charisma into in-game effects.

  • Kaldheim Releases Today! Set Survival Guide

How are snow-covered lands used in Draft? You have to specifically draft for them, or you just put at the end only snow-covered lands in the deck?

  • Ramp Paladin?

    Quote From dapperdog

Let's also not forget that Nozdormu grants the opponent 10 mana to play before you do, so on chances you face up against priest or mage, you're better off just playing the normal aggro murloc game. Yes its hilarious when you win with Alura or get a board full of clowns and your opponent happens to be aggro, but those are just moments against the many times you either don't draw the cards you need, or just die from aggro without playing a single card.

Yeah, I played a lot with Nozdormu when it was available and that's definitely a problem. I had some succes in decks with massive board clears (such as equality + consecration) to answer my opponent's board after he used the 10 mana to fill the board with scary stuff.

  • Two aspects about the *new* rank system

    2) Second bigger issue: With the new system I am actually playing less.  Before, completing a quest you got an instant reward. 50, 60, 80, 100 gold, and so on. You actually felt that if you are going to fill your quest log and not play, you will miss on gold and you will not be able to get as many packs. Now, I am free to play, so this is a big thing for someone who wants to use the next expansion.
With the new system, I don't have that. I complete a quest, gives me a 1000 XP, and I still have 2000 XP more to go to get the next 100 gold, which I will get some time in the next three days. That removes the urgency of logging in.

It is great for other things I have to get done, like studies and work projects, and teach my kid some school stuff, but not good for a company that wants to get its login ratings up and not down.

Login ratings are one thing, but building a game in such a way that supports a healthy work-life-gaming balance is also a plus point. Hearthstone has always let you hold onto quests for 3 days for precisely that reason. Ultimately, the people designing the game are normal people who also want a healthy balance, and they aren't going to be annoyed that their players do too.

    Quote From h0lysatan

So I guess you're not alone. I'm also sitting with 45 extra gold since 2 years ago (I mean 5 extra gold, since before reward track), and still have 2 free tickets from the reward track.
I could've just play arena or duel, but I don't think I can do it in one run. I need more time to play arena, but I don't have that time.

You could do it over multiple gaming sessions. Nothing forces you to finish a run in 1 sitting.

  • Hearthstone Adds a Happy New Year Questline - 3 Legendary Quests with a Total of 9 Packs as Rewards

You already can get the legendary quest, just log in and look at the quest journal. I just received three packs for playing one battleground (you can immediately quit after start).

  • Favorite Class Rankings

    Staff

I don't have a strict order for the classes, and it's not that Wild-specific, but I'll share it anyway:

Top tier: Mage, Warlock, Druid, Priest

Grindy control with big flashy spells seems to be my thing. Druid doesn't really fit that description but I've always quite enjoyed playing it, not sure why. All (except maybe Priest) are also quite versatile.

    Mid-tier: Warrior (and Paladin?)

The control aspect of Warrior gains it a tier of its own for my list. I just haven't been playing it that much in Wild. Paladin is at a weird spot, I don't like playing it too much but I still kinda want to list it ahead of the bottom 4.

The rest: Hunter, Shaman, Rogue, Demon Hunter

Just not my cup of tea. Maybe it's the lack of control options.

This post became more "look I'm a control player" than I intended...
