Batman: Hush by Jeff Loeb and Jim Lee - Just the best Artwork Lee has ever done
The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller, Klaus Janson and Lynn Varley - Haven't read it yet, but by flipping trough it alone I already know it's gonna be awesome!
Both are outstanding Batman comics by anyone's standards. If I were forced to give my #1 "best Batman ever" recommendation, however, I'd have to side with The Long Halloween written by Jeph Loeb illustrated by Tim Sale. A large part of Hush's success is the mystery, and I think Loeb does an even better job with TLH. Plus TLH is loosely an origin story, so you don't need any prior context or introduction for the characters while at the same time the plot moves quickly so you're not wasting time rehashing familiar content or worrying if something is being retcon'ed. Sale's artwork is also gorgeous -- he gives the series a very noir feel which goes fantastically with the murder mystery plotline.
(Side note: even though its very beloved by most Batman fans, I personally wasn't really impressed with The Killing Joke. I suspect part of that may be because it was so revolutionary when it was originally released but not so much now 30+ years later -- I find a lot of Alan Moore's work like that.)
Opened Greybough recently and made a treant deck with it with the sole purpose of starting the grind towards Druid Achievements, including one copy of Guess the Weight and Faire Arborist to help both the Darkmoon Treant and the Corrupt expansion. And while I didn't finishany of them entirely, I did go 14-4 with the deck and ended up reaching legend.
Was Hysteria supposed to give full dust refund? I was under the impression it was a nerf?
I wouldn't dust a rare anyway but just feels like a bug.
Edit: When I originally wrote this post it was several hours after the patch and I had the game client open. Hysteria was only offering 20 dust to d/e and it didn't have the red writing saying this card had been changed recently. Now it is so no bug I suppose. I still didn't opening message on opening the client like it usually does for card changes though.
Your point 1 has a small caveat. You can actually eventually* get it to a round number but only if you're willing to go through arena and heroic duels, of which the rewards can come in as small as 20g. So its not technically stuck at a useless number, just floating about until one day you get lucky.
I actually didn't know you can fix it by playing arena and duels. I have two unused passes I earned, so I will definitely give it a try. I can't remember when was the last time I actually played arena....
I think that when Dean talks about gold/dust not being fun, he is looking at it from the perspective of your "casual" hearthstone player, that doesn't comment here or keep up with the current meta. I would imagine that with HS being on phone, there is a ton of players just playing whatever cards they have while trying to do their quests.
I am pretty sure they have solid metrics about the player base and they try to tailor the experience towards the majority. I personally like option to craft my cards, because deck building and trying new ideas is to me sometimes more fun than actually playing, but I understand his perspective. I hope they will find some middle-ground so both sides will be happy.
The problem was never my phone app, but my computer. When I log in through my phone, all is there. It is when I try to log in through my computer that it is all gone. But never mind, I just play with my phone now.
You're missing the point. As others stated, you are using a pseudo account on mobile. It's better to figure out how to convert that into a real bnet account if possible. Otherwise at some point your collection WILL go missing permanently because you have to switch to a new phone.
Does it make a difference that both my iPhone and mac are new? I am failing to see why the phone login kept it all and the computer login didn't, no matter what I tried to do.
Good article. If anyone new is reading this, I encourage you NOT to get overwhelmed by the detail here.
The most important points to remember are:
1. Don’t feel obligated to buy the new player starting pack. Unlike most games, you get so much for free that the cost isn’t worth it. Save your money for fun cosmetics!
2. Aim for the rank 10 chest every week. It has great rewards and isn’t hard to get - complete your quests, play most days, and ideally win at least one game most days. That’s enough.
3. Don’t worry about the rank 11 chest. It requires a lot more XP to get, and because you use most of your “easy” XP (from quests and the first daily win) to get to rank 10, that extra XP for rank 11 comes really slowly. And the extra stuff you get for every rank after 10 is minimal.
4. Once you’ve been playing for several days and the system is starting to make sense, read the article's advice about maximizing the Region Road gains. It won’t seem so confusing at that point.
5. You can expect to have enough resources to fully copy a meta deck after 4-6 weeks of playing. After that, you can probably copy a new one every 3-4 weeks. All for free!
Dawg: just save your deck-share code in any text editor, and then copy it back in to reconstruct your deck.
Also: there are not multiple competitive decks for every class in Wild. Your deck slots are full because you feel like it, not because the format demands it. Your complaints are incredibly petty.
I've been playing the deck quite a bit, about 30~ games with it. The deck is probably the biggest high roll deck we've ever seen in the game but besides that it is not incredibly problematic. The power of the deck comes from 2 legendaries, with 2 cards that draw for one of them, which results in games where you steamroll your opponent turn 5 with a '''''ramp''''' deck, but also games where you opening hand has a total mana cost of 30+ and you just die before you ever get the chance of doing anything fun. The overall winrate of the deck is fine.
The high roll potential is the biggest reason why this deck might get something touched on. Being such a polarizing deck leads to a lot of bad play experiences for the opponents, as well as the player, resulting in a similar situation that turtle mage caused last year in Scholomance. Alec Dawson mentioned that he and the team are keeping an eye on the deck to make sure it doesn't evolve into something more problematic, but as of right now it feels more like a flavor-of-the-week deck to them than an actual meta-defining must nerf deck.
For the time being, if you are facing against them a lot, I'd recommend trying to play a deck thats able to take advantage of Nozdormu as much as possible, since its the easier of the two highroll cards to draw/play and has an easy counterplay. I've had a very solid winrate with a quest Envoy Rustwix warlock deck running two Twisting Nethers, two Hysteria, and two Dark Skies, so if your in a pocket meta where everybody and their mother is playing the deck, I'd recommend trying it out.
It looks like iOS is still on the old version. I checked the App Store, and there wasn't an update. Maaaybe the freezing bug will be fixed when the actual 19.4.1 patch hits the App Store.
Every other card game I've ever played has also had sets rotate out. It's not a new concept. Not to "young shame" but have you ever played any other card games? Because if you did, you'd realize that this is not a foreign concept.
Young shame? Bitch please. I've played MtG pretty much since it came out. And no I'm not talking about Arena, I'm talking about cards on paper with pictures of them. Do you even remember what that is? So to counter your argument with your own quote, eternal formats are not a foreign concept.
Also you seem to have skipped over a few steps there. It may be difficult to imagine but there is in fact more than one viable deck per class in Wild. Standard players may be sitting cosy on 10 free deck slots but Wild players don't. So what you meant to say was: Step 1: Pick a deck to delete and make sure it's saved in your third-party programme of choice. Step 6: Reimport the deck into Hearthstone from your third party programme (cause god forbid Hearthstone was actually able to store all your shit), repick your card back of choice, repick your hero portrait, rename the deck (cause importing saves none of that), then reposition the deck back where it belongs in your collection.
Literally all it would have taken was to omit the word Standard from the quest and it would be fine. There is exactly zero reason to force Wild players to only complete quests in Standard.
I absolutely love this deck, For me I swapped the Archwitch Willow for a Twisting Nether as suggested and also dropped the Questing Explorers.
To make up for the early game draw, I upped the late game further by throwing in Valdris Felgorge, which also acts as a Tickatus corruption and of course, gives you bigger hands... and you know what they say about bigger hands... more options each turn.
I also replaced the other Explorer for a Sense Demons, so I can more reliably re-up health with Aranasi Broodmothers, if need be, or tutor out our Tickatus; Envoy Rustwix; Kanrethad Prime; or even the Solarian Primes that may be lurking in there, depending on when you draw this.
I kept finding in several games that I completed the quest long before I saw the Questing Explorers so they seemed like the weakest cards in the deck... so I added more greed.
I just love that feeling when; not only do you destroy that opponent's deck but also have like, 30 more cards left.... mmm so much greeed.
The issue I have is not with playing ranked. It's that they're forcing Wild players to scrap a deck just so they can queue for Standard. Wouldn't have been hard to make it Play 5 Games of Ranked. Hell, if we're all about catering to all play modes (Battlegrounds, Duels, Constructed), where's the next quest after that: Play 5 Games of Ranked Wild? Kinda tired of how obvious they are at treating Wild players as second rate citizens while choosing not to incentivise Standard players to occasionally try Wild as well. Wild players get dragged over to Standard but never the other way around.
Step 1: My Collection>New Deck>Pick a Class>Custom Deck>Complete My Deck>Yes>Done
Step 2: Click Play>Pick the deck you made>Ranked>Click Play.
Step 3: "I choose death!" (i.e. Concede)
Step 4: Repeat steps 2 and 3 four more times.
Step 5: Profit.
Now addressing your other complaint: the inherent reason that "Wild isn't supported" is because Blizzard realized that they couldn't sustain the game balance with that many cards. Every other card game I've ever played has also had sets rotate out. It's not a new concept. Not to "young shame" but have you ever played any other card games? Because if you did, you'd realize that this is not a foreign concept. So this forced blizzard to maintain standard balance, but allow "anything goes" in wild. But, to counter your point, they have been looking more at wild over the last year and made adjustments to the cards to prevent them from overwhelming the wild meta. (Genn and Baku as a glaring example).
And they aren't treating wild players as second rate citizens, treating them as second rate citizens would be reducing the gold for quests if they are completed in wild, or having wild only quests that offer lower gold than standard quests. So FWIW, I don't think you understand the concept of "Second rate citizen".
You have to specifically draft them in order to put them in your deck. Prioritizing lands is pretty important whenever drafting a snow deck to make sure you can actually benefit from your snow nonland cards.
