Hi Pezman! That’s actually a great idea, what would you take out of the deck for it? I’m thinking Guess the Weight, since the deck’s mana curve is relatively uniform it doesn’t draw you an extra card that often.
I remember there was one interview of sorts that what we see in the RR adventure was sort of the initial idea for RR's core design, especially how the shrine works, but the dev then explained that this wasn't implemented cause' then every game would revolve around shrines. Its kinda a design balance; cards have to be good, but not too good or the next expansion would need to ramp the power levels every time just to keep up.
I heard this rumor too, but i mean what is the difference really between a shine you based a deck around and a quest you base your deck around ala Corrupt the Waters or Making Mummies? And this was before they introduced those quests. I'm not saying that direction would have made the expansion better, i'm just saying that it would have made it more interesting. Make the shrine like a quest where it always starts in your hand. You can play it whenever you want instead of it just being on the board and then you can either save it for a combo turn or fight for board control like you do in rumble run. Or like i said have the rikkar Transfer Student thing. And i think if bloodwash medic was a neutral card, along with war heralder, i think those would be some pretty great control tools for neutral(i wouldn't give it to priest because priest got a ton of control tools this expansion Mass HysteriaSeance). (and obviously tune back how many spells they would give)
That's the main problem with the shrines. Unlike quests, the shrines have no real conditions other than their mana costs, whereas quests have been widely acknowledged to be somewhat of a liability both in terms of their quest conditions and the fact that they take up a mulligan slot as well as your first turn. That's why despite the power levels of the quests rewards, we rarely see anyone playing Making Mummies, for example. There's also the problem with the somewhat permanence of the shrine (they come back after 2 turns), and its soft taunt nature.
I've played and loved the Rumble run, but even I concede that it was just too much for standard. There was a tavern brawl that allowed us to basically play rumble run with real players and it got ugly pretty fast. Wouldn't want that to be a staple, that's for sure.
Talking about shrines, the ones we got (spirits) eventually weren't really all that bad. Spirit of the Shark and frog were really powerful, Spirit of the Frog in particular will slot into just about any control or midrange shaman due to how bad shaman's draw was/is.
I would like to agree with you over the bloodwash medic but its just not feasible for it to be available to all classes. Team5 specifically limits health gain cards for balance reasons (aggro wouldn't exist otherwise), so classes like rogue are limited by their health despite their value potential. I think we've seen enough of Antique Healbots and Zilliaxes to know how much they can carry metas.
And shark acording to VS was still played more/used more then shouldve really been spirit of the shark.
Thanks for posting this. It seems like it's been a long wait for Second Dinner to announce a game. But this hire only makes sense if they have something to announce fairly soon. Presumably you don't hire a community development manager unless you have a game on the near horizon. Here's hoping it's a card game and the new competition makes all the companies in this field work even harder to improve their games (and their game economies).
BTW, the video has some witty touches that makes it well worth a watch.
I think the biggest issue with Riven is her all-inn nature where you buff her to 12+ attack with ease but get blown out by a stunn/frostbite in response. Also the issue with Riven decks is, she gets a lot weaker when drawn later on. Overall there aren't that many uses for her Sword so that the all in character of the deck gets even worse. The top decks of the current meta (although it certainly will change lot i think) don't mind if they don't draw their key cards, they just work WAY better if they do. Without a second decent user for the reforged blade, the Riven decks will stay bad just because their gameplan is too unreliable and fragile.
Just stopping by to say hello! I've seen Swizard playing this deck, and I have to say, it's one beast of a greedy-ass deck. Great if you like long adventure-type games where you just fight for the board and try to outvalue your opponent.
When played it will freeze all minions and heroes on board. The intended thing is it will freeze anything played during those 2 turns(working like regular freeze mechanic to all minions), but when those 2 turns are up everything will thaw. If you turn into a different hero you will be frozen, if you play a charge minion it will be frozen. If you play Lord JaraxxusYou. Will. Be. Frozen. If you attack with minions and then use Frozen Tundra, they will be unable to attack after they "thaw" just like with say Hyldnir Frostrider
The intent of this card is not to freeze the game was a freeze mage but to get instant value out of cards like Moorabi, Ice Cream Peddler(which in theory would proc off itself), and Living Dragonbreath. And honestly freeze shaman needs a card like this to be worth playing.
Wailor - I guess sometimes joke cards just happen to work. As far as both versions of Ghost of Winterveil Past, I prefer the second one only because it's easier to balance.
DavnanKillder - I see you've already submitted. I would've preferred Nixue even it's a bit "dangerous" looking, but you might do well with your card for it being mechanically cool.
Hordaki - If this was a Mage card, then people might have a problem with it as a third and fourth Frost Nova. However, because this is a Shaman card and the freezing effect is fairly situation, I think it works quite nicely here. I like it.
KANSAS - Fair point. I like your card.
Anchorm4n - I prefer the first version, although I feel like the second version will probably get a better score since it doesn't break the Hunter AoE weakness as obviously.
BloodMefist - I thought the original card was fine. It's kinda hard to use in Rogue since they don't have that many buffs.
MenacingBagel - Flavorful, although not that original and might be weak. I don't know how much the pack costs.
BloodMefist - I know you've already submitted, but I love Doctor Magnetron, so I can picture you'll do pretty well.
DavnanKillder - Sand Shark was definitely the way to go. Hope you do well.
Hordaki - I'm going to give the unpopular opinion and say that I actually prefer Kobold Schemer only because it seems more practical and easier to use.
ChickyChick - I quite like this, so I think you're good to go.
KANSAS - I think the idea here is decent enough, but there are some problems that some of the other people pointed out.
Wailor - I definitely think this iteration is better than the previous one. The 3/2 statline might be one statpoint too many, but I understand wanting to keep it for flavor purposes, so I can't put it past you to keep it.
FieselFitz - I think a 1-mana Echo card is kinda dangerous, especially like this. Unstable Evolution is only fine because it doesn't have Aggro potential.
Alright, after some feedback I have decided to scrap my old card and come up with something completely new. I might look for better art in the future. If any of you have something better I would love to see it.
Thanks for taking the time to give us feedback, linkblade. I hope it has taken your mind off your worries for a few minutes. I'm not a religious person but I'm trying to send over some positivity. Have a virtual hug if you want to.
Riven is my favorite of the three new champs, so I'm disappointed she's not doing well. I think if Noxus had some Scout cards, Riven would excel more. But what do I know: I complete my quests against the AI most of the time lol.
Thank you all for the feedback on Herald of Winter; it's not an overly-serious idea, but I submitted it anyway because I frankly couldn't be asked to think of something else right now. I've got some stuff on my plate I'm trying not to get upset about; a side-comp is the least of my worries.
Anyway, here's my feedback:
Show Spoiler
DavnanKillder - I prefer the second snowman as well, the one with the four arms. Also, you should stop capitalizing "hero" in your text; they don't do that in-game, unless it's referring to a Hero Power :P
FieselFitz - I like the new version of Awakened Waterfront. Not the "for each Frozen enemy" one, because that can really get out of hand, but the "If you control a Secret" iteration. Looks good as-is.
anchorm4n - One major flavor problem with the Christmas Tree is that the Secret layout doesn't look like that on mobile, so some players might be wondering where the Secret gameplay comes from. Another thing - and I hate mentioning this - is that some people will find giving AoE damage to the Hunter off-putting. I think it's stupid, but something something "class identity" or whatever. With that out of the way, I prefer the 1 damage to all/Rare version.
KANSAS - It looks better with the Stealth already on there. I'm concerned about making it cost 3, though, because then it will have vanilla stats whilst being theoretically "perma-stealthed". I think it looks fine as-is.
Hordaki - I like Anivia Glacial Frostwing. Might be a little on the strong side, though; maybe make it a 5/3/3?
Wailor - Frostbitten Raider is silly: if it can't attack the turn it is played, it is essentially a vanilla 4/5/4 minion. You can cheat it out to avoid the Battlecry, though, so it's not entirely a joke card. If you go with the Ghost, I would go with the Neutral one; the Rogue version is too wordy for me.
BloodMefist - Attack should be capitalized, but beyond that it looks good. I like the Paladin card a lot.
DestroyerR - I guess it counts, but it seems super OP at first glance. You've got two turns to "waste" your opponent's cards; not just destroying them like Tickatus, but actively using them against your opponent. I think this would lead to a lot of feel-bad moments I don't want to partake in.
FenrirWulf - I like the second iteration more than the first, so it's a good thing you went with that one :)
Tree is back because it had better flavor and art. 'Monster Tree and attack buffs' is a tough sell in most of the Secret classes, but Rogue actually seems like a decent fit since they have a few tools to buff the attack or otherwise utilize the Deathrattle. Two aspects I am unsure about are Stealth and what kind of Secrets. Stealth makes it much easier to buff for Rogue, but might also push it over. I think random Secrets might be better just because it gives a more Christmas tree vibe when it goes off.
I've been dealing with a family Covid situation, on top of it being Christmas week, so while I've poked my head in on occasion I haven't made the time to sit down and provide feedback until now; sorry about that.

FieselFitz - You have a weird space under the text: I think you left a line-break in there. While you didn't break any rules or anything this time around, I will say that the card is a bit on the boring side :/
Wailor - The Raptor has +1 Attack over Pterrordax Hatchling, but it's a class card so this is understandable. That being said it might be too good anyway because Echo cards are generally not so mana-efficient. You're kind of stuck in a corner because you want to keep the 3/2 statline, but increasing the cost would lose you an Echo proc and make it kind of sucky.
KANSAS - Would Microbot even work as intended? Or would magnetizing the minion keep the Battlecry from activating (because it didn't hit the table on its own)? I can give the benefit of the doubt, but there are no Magnetic minions with Battlecries, so it's hard to say how that interaction would function. Beyond that, while I like the general idea of it, giving Adapt to a non-Beast is kind of iffy, given what Adapt is supposed to mean.
DavnanKillder - I like Sand Shark the most, but it is now blatantly better than Rabid Worgen. It needs Health to survive the trade, but it needs Attack to utilize the Overkill. I guess I would increase the cost.
ChickyChick - I would argue Lackeys are not set-specific, given we got new ones throughout the Year of the Dragon, but you're still good-to-go with Spare Parts and Razorpetals. Just need to say "Add a random*…"
Hordaki - I like Pupil of the Moon, although the art doesn't really line up with the name in my opinion.
BloodMefist - I love that art; was thinking about using it myself before I came up with the Soul Fragment idea. I would consider dropping a point off Attack, if that would help make it seem less scary.
anchorm4n - Dormant is out, but I like Zevrad more anyway. Don't have much to criticize, personally.
DestroyerR - I like Awestruck Apprentice: she's got good flavor. That being said, she's not likely to live long, which makes her slow gameplay pattern a problem. Can we reasonably say she'll ever live long enough to draw two cards, statted as she is? Maybe late in the game, but then you're messing around with a 2/3 when you could be doing other, more impactful things.
Demonxz95 - No additional notes. I think it's good to go.

Might I recommend Greybough? Works well with Hadronox and Flobbidinous Floop, and you pretty much always have minions on board to get the deathrattle. Plus, I bet Zephrys the Great is smart enough to offer you Faceless Manipulator to help out there.
