  • filter by duels hero power & card collection not syncing

    Hello,

I was looking for duels decks and I found your website. I used to use hearthpwn and I am looking forward to getting familiar with out of cards!

My first issue is that I am using the out of cards plugin for HDT. In HS, it says that my card collection is syncing, yet I still cannot see how much dust each deck will cost me.

My second issue is a request - we can filter by just about anything we want except for our hero power and maybe also our desired treasure. If I know I want to use a particular hero power, I would love an option to filter by a class/hero power combination so I can see all decks that support my desired hero power. How hard would this be to implement? The hero power is most important, but the treasure would be nice if that is possible too!

  • Is control dying? Serious question...

I'm a control player, period, and have been playing since G&G, and the whole card-vomiting paradigm is extremely boring to me as well.  Not that aggro didn't always exist, but, as has been said, things have definitely changed over the years.

I've always figured the allure of aggro was the ability to climb ladder fast and gather gold quickly as well, not to mention that it's one of the various aspects of the game's design that minimizes the difference in win rates between the best and the worst players, in order, frankly, to keep more people playing, as opposed to someone losing at a rate commensurate with their skill level and leaving the game out of petulance or frustration.

But, over the past few days, I've begin to question this.  I mostly just play casual, because, hey, it's a silly game that's fun and attaining higher ranks accomplishes nothing that's particularly meaningful in life.   I play for fun, and play control in casual, and I thought that the new XP system, even if it's less rewarding, would result in less people playing aggro in casual, since your rewards are based on total time spent, as opposed to winning quick games by vomiting out lots of small cards.

But I was wrong.  Tons of people are playing aggro in casual.  Sure, everyone's free to do whatever they want, but I personally don't get it.  If you're getting the same rewards playing more interesting and challenging decks, why not do that?  I'm not saying aggro doesn't demand some skill, but it's really a lot of people just doing the same simple things over and over, without the variation in game play evident with more complex decks.

I suppose some will say that people just enjoy winning, as opposed to being challenged.  As I said, to each his own, but, to me, that philosophy is just... bleh.  I just don't see how it doesn't get boring, unless it ends up morphing in an OCD ritual.  Personally, I'd rather just do something else rather than play that way.  The point being that, if few people are willing to play control in casual, even if there is no difference in rewards, then maybe the game has indeed become something too different for me.  Oh well.

  • Is control dying? Serious question...

I tried to play control in standard for a long time. When rise of shadows came out i decided to switch to wild because it was no longer sustainable to play control in standard. It's not bad enough they don't release control tools, but they constantly buff aggro with things like Voracious Reader, and if the only way they want me to play control is be a scumbag and play res priest with Convincing Infiltrator i'm not gonna do that. I tried playing control warrior in standard recently, old school style. Lots of removal tools, some big value bombs at the end when my opponent was out of cards. But the thing was. They just keep playing everything, they play shit and play shit and i can't remove everything. they always have the card draw they always have the Voracious Reader and the token buffs to avoid the shitty aoe they give you. It's impossible.

People complaining about doctor boom control warrior, where they would gain 50+ armor every game and make the games last forever forget that mechathun also came out in boomsday to directly counter this kind of thing. Your warrior opponent with 150 health is no match for a card that says "win the game"

My idea was a shaman minion that draws you a spell whenever your hero attacks, if you play It this turn unlock your overloaded crystals. It would be great with Inara in a burn shaman

But I didn't feel like making it, I don't know where to get any good card art from.

  • Legend help

Most important part of climbing to legend (and within legend to get a better rank) is to just keep calm and play to your outs. Getting stressed out obviously won't help so just play at your own place and remember that ultimately, there is no rush since next month always exists. I remember the first time i reached the equivalent of rank 3 back in 2016, I got incredibly nervous about hitting legend, and ended up deranking all the way down to 4 before I just cut my losses.

If you happen to use a decktracker, like HSreplay, checking your own replays can be very beneficial as hindsight can be very useful. Granted, learning from hindsight can lead to picking up messy habits, but I believe reviewing them can be helpful. If you want some help with that, feel free to DM me or just post them here and I'm sure some people will help you break down the game.

Getting to legend is 100% just a mindset, keep calm, focused, and you'll get there if you have enough determination. Once you hit it a couple times, it'll become a lot easier and it won't be much of a hassle anymore to reach it. Good luck!

  • Give C'Thanks Bundle Now Live in the Hearthstone Shop - 2 Random Darkmoon Faire Legendaries + 20 Scholomance Packs

I think this is a very good deal compared to the standard pricing structure in Hearthstone. Normally, you would be getting 15 packs for that price. So you get 5 extra packs AND two guaranteed legendaries you don't have with this bundle.

If you factor all the packs we will be getting in the coming year (Year of the Phoenix bundles, free packs during Twitch events, etc.), there's a very good chance I'll be able to complete my Scholomance and Darkmoon collections within the next few months, and that hasn't happened since I started playing during beta.

  • Legend help

Dude, I was Diamond 2 tonight and I finally made it! You can too, rooting for you! And like others said, if you fall there is always next month. When AOO came out, I got one win away from Legend twice (after getting there once and going on a big losing streak) and didn't get there.

  • Weekly Quests = More Time Spent to Get the Same Rewards

The most time efficient thing you can possibly do is - try to complete 2-4 quests at once. Or reroll for ones which allow you to complete multiple of them at once.

I try to do so, for example - reroll for Dailies "play 3 hunter / X / Y battles".

    Then I can do at once - Dailies "play 3 hunter / A / B battles", "play 3 hunter / C / D battles"  AND  Weeklies "Win 7 ranked battles", "Spend 500 mana".

Once I complete Dailies, I stop playing Rankeds. Then come back in 2-3 days, to do 2-4 quests again. Ranked wins contribute towards reaching Diamond 10 / Diamond 5 for a month as well, so that's good.

And yes, the requirements to win in a mode you don't like, feels bad man. I don't like BG, so I have to reroll those every time...

I don't recommend abusing it but, for now, you can complete Dailies "play 3 A / B / C Class battles" with simply conceding at the start.

  • [UNCONFIRMED] It seems they removed the pity timer on legendaries

    Quote From Fedrion
I mean, I'm not complaining just with the bundle and 15 more pack I've gotten 6 legendaries, which of course could be better, but it's RNG even with the packs, so I'm ok with it.

    That's a big understatement lol.

The pity timer is 1 in 40, the average is 1 in 20, 6 in 15 (~1 in 2.5 packs) is insanely good.

The ones you probably want are 5 wins in tavern brawl/BG/duels,

I find it odd you can't complete the brawl quest against a friend, while the others you can.

I'm not entirely sure, but that's a story of incompetence, bugs, and bafflement for another day.

  • Weekly Quests = More Time Spent to Get the Same Rewards

As much as I sympathize with the rerolling bs that is currently in the system (like play 50 corrupt cards, 4 wins in arena, probably some of the worst designed quests I've seen) I have to say that its not that hard to complete most of them within the week, especially if you're going to finish up the 7 ranked wins anyway.

Also, mercifully, weeklies can be completed with friends (except the arena and battlegrounds, of course), making it a near triviality, taking up only time.

The ones you probably want are 5 wins in tavern brawl/BG/duels, 50 hero powers, 500 mana, or anything that can be suitably done while playing on ranked or involve tavern brawls. Even that bs 10 old gods quest can be reasonably done, provided you've a good friend.

  • Give C'Thanks Bundle Now Live in the Hearthstone Shop - 2 Random Darkmoon Faire Legendaries + 20 Scholomance Packs

That's a rule that I totally didn't know. Thanks for pointing it out. Not that it matters much, since I'm not playing HS anymore, but always good to learn new things.

  • Weekly Quests = More Time Spent to Get the Same Rewards

OK, so like others who have tried to assess how the new Rewards Track compares to the old system, I assumed that completing the Weekly Quests would be a done deal, even while acknowledging that non-ranked players would be missing out on a chunk of XP. Well it turns out even ranked players could be disadvantaged too. Last week, I missed one weekly quest because I was constantly re-rolling quests that involved winning in other game modes; the 2nd weekly quest I completed involved a helluva lot of grinding (spend 500 mana).

This goes against Blizzard's promise that we'd be able to get a similar level of rewards for the same play pattern. Already playing to win 7 ranked games a week was going out of my usual play pattern, but now I find it's worse than I thought; I think many of us will be made to spend more time on the game than before. Either weekly quests need to be re-designed, or daily quests need to award more XP so that players can achieve previous level of rewards without weekly quests.

So, I thought I had the flavour nailed on, evoking pet battles from WoW, summoning a miniature version of a beast to fight. Anyway, no one seemed to pick up on it, with most feedback being that the name was weird. Anyway, I've renamed it, and also dropped the stats/cost down by 1, so it's not got the exact same statline Teacher's Pet (which it would share a set with). I've also thought of a new Elekk to join it's educated and augmented brethren.

    Feedback shortly!

Because they just offered the two bundles with packs from the new expansion?

  • Legend help

Just stick with what you have and don't get tempted to keep switching decks between losses. If you're comfortable with your deck choice, and have learnt sufficiently how it works, it shouldn't be difficult to get an above 55% winrate, especially given that the meta is currently filled with dhunters of all types, which pure pally should be favorable against.

Don't get too flustered. I reached legend last month with priest, having grinded from diamond 5 with only 4 days remaining. And in between I've slipped from diamond 2 to 4. Even if you start slipping, just keep at it and eventually you'll get there. Just dont give up on the dream.

  • Any tips to fulfill the C`Thun achievement?

    Pro

Guys, I got SO lucky today! C'Thun-Lock mirror match, my opponent was at 12 health with an empty deck, I had C'Thun in the deck waiting to be drawn. The match was mine, but then he played Jaraxxus (and was suddenly at "full health"), I topdecked C'Thun and snagged that achievement! I know this does not help others get it, but I'm so hyped I had to brag. I hope others can run into similar luck!

FWIW Redit says it the patch has gone live to fix the quest issue. At least one use claims he got the XP credit after a game. They did not mention if they had to check their XP or it showed an pop-up.

  • Give C'Thanks Bundle Now Live in the Hearthstone Shop - 2 Random Darkmoon Faire Legendaries + 20 Scholomance Packs

It's more important to be precise about them, since they are so expensive.

    Exactly this!

Maybe i sounded very pedantic, But i really dislike when there are  misconceptions if there are people's money on the line

EDIT: (sorry i edit a lot) thinking more about it (about the being pedantic...) my terms "wanted legendary" and "random legendary" as they have different value isn't true. A legendary has always the same value, and isn't subjective.

400 dust is the value of the legendary card; when we create one, and spend 1600 dust, we are just buying the item with a loss of 1200 dust. We perceive the item has having a value of 1600 dust, but in reality the exact moment that item is in our "hand" it's value is 400 dust.

Now, if we get the random legendary we exactly want, we aren't "gaining" 1600 dust (we gain 400), in truth we aren't "losing" 1200 dust; it sounds the same, but is fundamentally different

  • Grim Tutor - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Latest but (probably) not last version for this card:

Increased the cost and changed the name. Which name do you prefer? Or any other suggested name?

    And here are the feedbacks:

    Show Spoiler

Wailor & Demonxz95 - You guys already submitted, no feedbacks for you guys, Goodluck then : )

linkblade91 - Interesting idea, I'm gonna say I prefer the "Competitive Nature" better.

DavnanKillder - Lunar Blessing is a great idea, but due to the limit of tokens, this card won't work. Call of Yogg-Saron still feels good as a limited version for the initial idea, but I think you should find Arts that fit them better, for example: Medivh and  Ethereals seems no relation to Yogg.

grumpymonk - Arlizz seems a very dangerous card - in synergy between Sorcerer's Apprentice, Mozaki, Master Duelist, and lots of low cost spells, and that seems to restrict more design for mage later or could become a push of Sorcerer's Apprentice to the Hall of Fame. Freak Show seems to be a very interesting Card and flavorable, I like it! Heart of Wild seems good but need a watermark that fits better. Overall, I prefer Freak Show better.

DestroyerR - Interesting design for that card, nd it is very flavorable, No complains about that one.

anchorm4n - Even though Druid have great ramps, I still think its cost makes that card underpowered, make it cost 4  feels better.

MenacingBagel - definately too OP, lower the stats or slightly increase the stats and make it can effect itself can makes better. Also, mabey change it to a MDF card will let people rate it higher.

KANSAS - Both are good and Flavorable, I like them all, but not related to MDF could a down side when other people are rateing.

AnAngryBadger - Good design and flavorable but not really MDF, probably indicates she is an actress in flavor text makes it better.

shaveyou - Pet Trainer feels soild, it looks good. Circus Elekk is also a great design, BUT, I think the watermark should be MDF rather than Classic, I see no reason why it should be a Classic Card, probably you just forgot that but I think it is important to fix that one. Personlly I prefer the Circus Elekk, once you fixed the watermark, I think it is a solid pick for you.

    * edited to give feedback to some people I missed previously

That's why I didn't want to get into pack value :)

I just thought it might be useful for someone thinking about buying the bundle, or as a general rule for evaluation of random legendaries. It's more important to be precise about them, since they are so expensive.

I don't like 100g=100d rule (but I do understand it), since I dust only duplicates, and I can't pay dust to enjoy Arena or new packs at the beginning of the expansion. Gold is, of course, much better to have than dust.

  • Legend help

You definitely have more than enough time right now, and what I find to be effective is setting rank floors for myself. That means if 3 stars is your base, then you should try and make sure that you either end up back there or are in rank 2 by the end of the day. If you want, you can go up one rank a day.

I know it can seem daunting, but you can do it! Pure Pally is more than capable of getting you to Legend.

  • Is control dying? Serious question...

In my opinion, people are just playing aggro decks to rank up quickly because its the end of the season. There are also those mongloids that want to ruin everyone’s fun and plays aggro to beat all the experimental decks. There’s still a lot of experimentation going around, but once the control decks are tuned a bit more to playing good cards rather than new cards, then I am sure you’ll see a resurgence of Control decks in the meta. (Which unfortunately means Big Priest has a chance to show its stupid grubby face
