You can fish for them specifically, though. One of the cards that Invokes says it gives options from 4,5,6 cost. Given that restriction, and 3 chances, you're looking at good odds of grabbing that Obliterate card if you try for it specifically.
Not necessarily. Even the existing class levels give xp based on number of cards played as well as wins, and they only have to make the new system do the same and it will already encourage control more than the current 10 gold for 3 wins does. Also, since they changed nearly all daily quests to only require you to play games, and not have to win them, I doubt they are going to lock xp behind wins.
I've been playing since LoE and finally hit standard legend earlier this year after being a dad legend player for a good while before. It's nice to be able to mess around with less competitive decks in dumpster legend without that niggling voice telling to focus on climbing, and to know you've maxed out your rewards for the season. I'm also having a go at the wild ladder now - hit r5 this morning - and just enjoying the game before next week's ladder reset.
And now that I've hit it I don't feel like I need to ever again. I could go after the rewards but I don't want to play to the point where I experience burnout.
Same feeling here. However, Legend is luring me back for my homebrew decks (to prove they are decent). I don't like the stress of the grind tho, so I am there, at D1 with Aggro Reno Paladin, slowly climbing, playing 1-2 ranked matches every 3 days or so because that's the maximum stress I can afford. Jeez...
Luckily, the new ranked system with shorter stilts between floors helps a lot with competitive anxiety.
For those curious about the 11pm PST update: it seems that the two cards DDaHyoNi revealed simultaneously were intended to be separately, so the Silver Sister effectively "leaked" an hour early.
Well lets keep in mind you can't put this into a deck though. You can obtain it through other means but you can't just play any of these as cards you run.
Congratulations! Hitting legend for the first time is a great feeling (I've only reached once, but reach the diamond top ranks every month in both Standard and Wild, usually). Happy for you, see you out there on the ladder!
Some changes are fair, the artwork change was unexpected but very welcome (Kill command in particular), but there are certain changes which I think really unjustified;
- Removing freezing trap is kinda harsh, especially since its not particularly hard to play around, and is perhaps the only defensive secret in classic. If this must go then something like wandering monster must replace it.
- What could removing charge from unleashed the hounds and tundra rhino actually serve, especially since the only buff provided as compensation is a mere 1 mana down to rhino (which wouldn't matter since you've more or less just destroyed any viability of this card). Hunter has little to no card draw and can barely generate cards, so they can't usually match up to any class in the mid-to-late game and this change simply makes it worse by ensuring that matches must end by turn 6 since theres little else they can do after that.
- removing highmane for being broken, and tracking for being 'complicated'. I don't particularly recall either as such.
- Your custom card, reload, is interesting. Its not really easy to draw more than 1 card but then again hunter isn't really good at that anyway.
Considering all the changes you've made, all I can see is a much, much watered down hunter that isn't exactly good at doing anything. This is deliberate, as you would say, since classic cards are supposed to be below average, but this is beyond just a little below average. Seems like you designed this with all the expansion cards in mind rather than the other way around, since nearly all hunter's aggressive cards have been neutered to a frankly insane degree. In my opinion, classic cards should be the core where all else is built, but if I was building some sort of midrange beast hunter right now in wild or standard, none of those cards which youve changed will be in it.
Wow, that 6-cost slow spell ... Vengeance is having a heart attack. Though I guess there really is a massive difference between slow and fast spells, but still ... Obliterate instead of kill. Wow.
I would like to see the current 3-wins-10-gold system replaced with something that encourages varied play styles and not the most efficient win rate over time. Maybe a formula based on time, rounds or cards played. For now, I feel reassured that I won't have to change the way I play the game to maintain my current gold income.
It's very much the way mtg arena is doing it, though they have gold quests, and give xp for those as well as xp for normal wins per week/day.
It'll be much more exciting than just quests for gold actually, will give people more reasons to play beyond their quests too which is a good thing.
You can also play a lot and level up your "battlepass" over one weekend for example, then not play for a bit and still get rewarded for the more intense time you put in.
A nice balance between the two would be perfect, but it was my impression that Blizzard are counting packs as 100g in the battlepass value, a net 5k of gold per expansion is pretty good but 10 packs of last year expansions (or 30 packs of year of the dragon for example) and 2k in gold is not the same.
Congrats! Got my first one about a month ago using Even Shaman. Completed my Classic legendary collection with a [Hearthstone Card (Natalie Saline) Not Found]. I kind of was the same: didn't really care to grind, but decided to try this new variant of Even Shaman with a lot of Totems as I hadn't played my favorite class in a long time. And not only was I having fun smashing opponents with Healing Totems, but I kept winning and winning all the way up to Legend.
So we can earn the same gold for packs, of our choosing, and theoretically get some cosmetics to go along with it. So all in all the battlepass is some extra cosmetics.
For the Mods - you should redo the wording of this post. The way you wrote it "24 card reveals every hour for the next 24 hours," literally means that there are 24x24=576 reveals coming. It should say "24 card reveals are coming, one every hour for the next 24 hours."
I know it's a picky thing, but it definitely confused me.
Written in Stars is a crazy powerful effect - comparing to Entreat, you're getting a cost reduction and +2|+2 for a mere 2 mana more. It's also exactly the kind of wonky copy editing I've come to expect from this game...why isn't it "Written in the Stars"?

Also, just to say, the new 6 mana Celestial Unit has Lifesteal on the Solari unit, right now the English translation on this site says regent
