As old main shaman, I personally like this set more than 3 previous sets, it’s not competitive but more fun and gimmicks. Vashj and Shattered Rumbler are the most meh cards. Vashj is very hard to pull it off, and Rumbler needs some gameplay test to prove its usefulness.
If you're just here to jump on me with "git gud" or other things, stuff it.
For the rest of you, welcome! Here's why the title.
Runeterra, card economy is supremely valuable. Any card that gives you the card advantage is supremely valuable. Ruination is that on steroids.
It's never a bad draw. Ever. Either you're already winning on the battlefield in which case you're good. If you're not, it's a complete wipe of the board. And unless the opponent has been playing slow (giving just more opportunity for the ruination deck to draw said card) you'll kill pretty much everything they have.
The two exceptions are if the opponent has managed to pummel your nexus down and is playing a Piltover direct damage deck it stops an opponent dead. Since there aren't spell decks in Runeterra. (Yes, there are ones that focus more on spells but they're all still also creature focused.) Or if they have Deny the (literally) one card in the entire game that counters it.
It only costs 9. That's by sixth turn. And unless the opponent is playing a facedeck you'll get there.
Also, it's shadow isles, easy to put together a deck that is literally meant to throw away it's own units (or automatically get them back on death.)
I'm all for balancing things, I just can't think of any way to make Ruination not stupidly overpowered. Making it cost 13 would help, but it'd still be a soft "I win" button.
I've seen this card in action and it's strong. Spell hunter really looks viable and this card does wonder in the archetype. You can use it to clear a board, to finish your opponent (12 face dmg for 10 mana is something...) and you can cast it for 0 with [Hearthstone Card (Kael'thas Sunstrider) Not Found].
It worked for me after leaving my fireside gathering:
Go step by step on how you did it then.
Did you use a copy and pasted decklist?
decklist ? Which decklist ?
We're using the deck that we got after prologue and I assume this is the only way. At least this is the working way which I am doing. Probably that's why you can't play. Just use the deck the game gave you. Don't try to use a deck that you copied to your game. Were you trying to use deck which is theorycrafted in some streams ? That won't work probably. Use the deck the game added to your collection. If you deleted it, say goodbye to your early access and just wait for actual release.
Step by step which I've done;
1-) Open Solo Adventures, 2-) Choose Galakrond's Awakening Heroic 3-) Choose the E.V.I.L campaign 4-) Choose Sir Finley 5-) Choose the Demon Hunter deck which game gave you, it was the first deck on my list so it should be the same for you aswell. 6-) Enjoy.
Not sure how The Lurker Below interacts with deathrattles, but if the second hit trigger AFTER the deathrattle, this might just be an auto include in any control shaman deck.
In my opinion, shaman got some real powerful cards for a control style deck. One of those cards will NOT be Lady Vashj, just about the worst of all the primes. Shaman already suffers from abysmal draws, to rely on drawing this one specific card, then draw the prime, and then pray you still have spells in your deck else the card just doesnt do anything for 7 mana. Its just too inconsistent for combo, and too slow to make an impact.
Yeah I got some success with stealing as Priest but I did come up blank with a time I tried to take a neutral card from AI Demon Hunter via Madam Lazul. Weird.
The game has already lost most of its audience. I personally left it a week after the open beta. I found it a bit boring. However I will for sure give it a second chance at launch. It will have to be a really good expansion to bring me back to it
Well to be fair the "try again" part is partially true in that if you didn't like your mage or hunter secrets that were offered, for 1 mana you get a pally secret and get a new choice of secrets. I wouldn't discount the power of a paladin secret in a chain like this.
To be honest, though this card is pretty great. I honestly feel like card generation should be a Shaman thing at this point, because it does kind of feel like a mystical thing Shaman's could do.
Classic
Ye Old True Cardback
The Third War
Love this cardback :))
So, an Aggro Odd Demon Hunter, seems actually powerful

Then give it a rest and wait two days?
You sound like a spoiled brat at this point.

I believe the battlecry fully resolves before any deathrattles resolve.

Ruination is broken and can't be fixed.

Damn that Vivid Spores/Teron Gorefiend combo that was mentioned is insane

The Lurker Below can be curved out with Mutate or Boggspine Knuckles.
If the board clear is consistent enough, the Tempo swing is HUGE.

I've always found Hijo's Quest Mage to be the best list for ladder.
