If your goal is to rake in as much XP as possible, you want to win and win quickly (to have time for more matches). This means an Aggro deck, which mostly means Noxus. Ultimately, though, you should be picking the region that interests you the most from a gameplay-perspective, enjoying the process rather than coldly hoovering up XP.

What a nice time to quit Hearthstone. 

Any thoughts about which regions might be better/worse for F2P players to pick to unlock first?

Ah yes... Just found that out recently. It's kind of a shame for players like me that don't spend money on the game. It's sooooo much gold to save up or otherwise forced to buy. I don't think it's fair that they'll be uncraftable otherwise 

I can see why you feel like this, but you also have to consider that this is by far the best way to spend your gold: for 2800 you'll get 4 legendaries and a bunch of meta defining cards. In order to get the same amount of good stuff with packs you'd have to spend way more gold.
Just save up your gold and don't spend it on packs: you'll eventually be able to farm 700g every week and get all the goodies.

That's actually a pretty good perspective.. I didn't think about it that way. And as uve and doublesummon echoed, it'll be fun. Thank you!
