  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

Way off. I can give some hints if nobody gets it today.

  • Legendary Card Reveal - Frizz Kindleroost

    Remember keleseth?

  • A Weekend of Wild Decks

Thanks for the boost on my idiot eggdeck. Curious to know if anyone actually won a game with it.

  • New Shaman Minion - Bandersmosh

Bandersmosh seems a lot better than other transforming cards in the past, but I think it will struggle for the same reasons that the previous ones did, which is massive inconsistency.
The pool of Legendary minions is smaller and on average better than random minions, spells or weapons, but I'm not currently convinced it will see serious play.
    Seems cool though.

  • New Neutral Minion - Frizz Kindleroost

I already hate it. It single-handedly makes dragon decks viable, but what I hate about it is that games will usually be decided over who draws and plays this first. It's even got good stats for its mana cost. To quote from Dr. Strangelove, this card is terrifying, and simple to understand.

  • Arcane Devourer

This card looks much better when you cheat it out and can snowball hard, but maybe it's a bit to slow for Wild format.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

    Nightmare Amalgam?

When he's summoned, sound the trumpets (I don't know what this means actually)

It's totally common to hear (In Battlegrounds, just about everyone is playing him)

Pay more mana and bigger he gets (You generally want to spend lots of coins on battlecry minions to make the amalgam big)

But he'll always be lowest tier (In spite of being one of the most prominent minions in the format, he is only tier 2. Not quite the lowest, but pretty low)

  • New Rogue Minion - Umbral Skulker

In a class that uses combo cards and likes to cheat mana, I can see this being used in Galakrond decks to good effect.
Combo the Coins with cards like Questing Adventurer and Arcane Devourer for a good time.

  • New Priest Spell - Time Rip

Slightly better [Hearthstone Card (Assassiniate) Not Found] looks very good for priest.
Priest's removal traditionally has been very situational, so I'm expecting this to be okay, at least for Galakrond decks.

  • New Paladin Minion - Nozdormu the Timeless

    I find this card hillarious.
I can see this card possibly spawning a whole new archetype, and might be good enough to put into dragon decks.
This card has some strong tempo and combo potential, especially in the late game.

  • Shu'ma

    But why?

  • Frizz Kindleroost

Another "If you draw me earlier in the game I really boost your winrate more, but if I don't draw you early in the game I really lower my winrate." Not the most healthy of decision choices, but it is a cool card and not anywhere near as bad as things like Keleseth.

  • Descent of Dragons: Arena Impact

Ancharrr - 3 - Highly variable score for this, as it could be insane value if your draft supports it. There are some very good, common and rare pirates in the rotation so it'll have it's moments for sure.

Bandersmosh - 4 - There's certainly big upside, but there are enough lousy legendary minions for it to get a slight decrease in score. Plus it's a tease as a top deck if you have to play it as a vanilla 5/5.

Chenvaala - 4 - Playing 3 spells in one turn isn't easy, though mage can pull it off better than most. It's strong as a stand alone 2/5 for 3 and has the elemental tag so it looks solid to me.

Dragonqueen Alexstrasza - 4 - Chances are decent that you'll have thinned out duplicates by the time you get her in hand and have the mana to play her. If you can draft a highlander deck she's clearly a 5. Even if you get 2x Faerie Dragon you are dropping a big board with an 8/8 and two 3/2 dragons.

Frizz Kindleroost - 5 - Conditional score since it's going to be awesome with the next rotation but could drop precipitously if the spring rotation reduces the pool of dragons.

Nithogg - 2 - Wow... remember when I called a Anyfin/Everyfin comparison on Amber Watcher? Yeah, this is a legendary that sucks hard compared to that common. Blizz please. 0/3 eggs that aren't deathrattle, but instead need to survive until your next turn. QQ

Zzeraku the Warped - 5 - The lack of initiative is easily overcome if you are simply patient enough (or not so far behind) that you play this on 10 and have a mean board with the upside to spawn more. Sick.

Cumulo-Maximus - 5 - A really strong card for an archetype that will probably still be mediocre in constructed. In arena, there are plenty of good cards that have overload to ensure you get this 5 point blast.

Dread Raven - 4 - The 3 mana 3/4 has always been a great one for arena and this comes with an upside that's increased in arena where you could get 3 or more copies.

Kobold Stickyfinger - 3 - Very unique and cool card. Ok in arena, especially if warrior gets a boost from the dragons it brings back and pushes for a more frequent presence.

Transmogrifier - 4 - As with Bandersmosh, there are enough bad legendary minions to dilute the upside. Add in the fact that you could downgrade the card draw if it's one of your late game baddies, and I think there's enough not to like that I could downgrade the score to a 3.

Arcane Breath - 5 - Again a score that is rotation specific, since there will be a ton of dragons to support this for a full rotation. This is likely to be a very broken card.

Bad Luck Albatross - 5 - Hahaha... what an awesome card. Mess with opponents draw and it has great stats. Common rarity means we'll likely be seeing lots of it on both sides.

Breath of the Infinite - 5 - Ugh. Another set, another top board wipe for priest. Thanks Team 5.

Diving Gryphon - 5 - Solid removal piece that will pull another rush minion. Very strong, and we've seen time and again that the dev team puts together a theme for each hero in a new set so rush should be well supported now that we've seen a few.

Dragoncaster - 3 - The upside is undeniable, but you need to have this plus another dragon and a spell in hand. That spell also needs to be playable or you may be playing it in a sub-optimal way. May play well but it looks too unreliable to me.

Stowaway - 2 - Not sure the support will be there. This looks like a buff to Academic Research constructed decks.

  • New Shaman Minion - Bandersmosh

Someone on reddit did a list on what legendaries are good to pull with this and it's honestly a pretty large amount. There are only a couple really bad ones and more highrolls than bad or moderate rolls. I'm not sure there is an exact deck it will go into but the card itself seems pretty good and may not see play simply due to it not fitting into current shaman decks.

  • New Neutral Minion - Frizz Kindleroost

Incredibly powerful.  I would expect it should be at least 5 mana.

  • Fan Community Spotlight - Maysick's "Wynnstock Festival"

Kansas isn't a very well known band, but they have some pretty amazing songs. If you like rock music, I strongly suggest looking into them.

  • Emeriss in new Dragon Hunter

Of the revealed cards so far, the two that immediately come to mind that would interact favourably with Emeriss are Frizz Kindleroost and Dragonqueen Alexstrasza: First you discount your big dragons and then on 7 you Alex some giant dragons into your hand. Turn 8 you can drop Emeriss and up to two 0 cost doublesized dragons, or you can choose to play your threats one at a time.

I don't expect it to be a top-tier deck, but I think you could probably build a greedy highlander dragonhunter and do reasonably with it on ladder. You don't need to change that much from the existing list, which already has a decent suite of control tools.

You could probably also come up with OTK combos involving copying a discounted Emeriss with Dragonbreeder, but that seems very pie-in-the-sky and meme-y.

  • New Neutral Minion - Frizz Kindleroost

Always nice to see them do more cost reduction stuff, since that’s never caused problems in the past

  • Emeriss in new Dragon Hunter

I am sorry to tell you but Emeriss will, for now at least, remain completely unplayable.

He might make something happen in a deck that cares about dragons, but any other dragon could also be used in his stead.

Spending your entire turn doing nothing will be bad regardless of whether or not you are able to utilize the dragon tribal tag.

  • Standard Meta Report #14 - November 24, 2019 - December 1, 2019

"Standard"? what kind of witchcraft is this?

You can already see the agonizing effort from the ppl here of having to do yet another meta report so close to the new set AND during the honey moon phase of Battlegrounds.

  • Frizz Kindleroost

It looks great. But it's probably not anywhere near as great as it looks in practice.

You're probably better off running another big Dragon.

  • New Neutral Minion - Frizz Kindleroost

mana cheat... im starting to dread next xpac, these dragon decks are looking oppressive and expensive, just like most of the quest decks in uldum

  • Standard Meta Report #14 - November 24, 2019 - December 1, 2019

I mean, Lifedrinker describes the current ladder situation pretty accurately

  • Legendary Card Reveal - Frizz Kindleroost

I’m not usually into predicting a cards worth, but this thing is gonna be a problem...
