  • Classic WoW is out! Get HYPED!

Too bad the queue time is hours long and by the time I can get in there, I would have used up all my time earmarked for gaming lol

What are you guys rolling? :)

  • Zilliax

Its playrate dropped from 70% of all decks to 50% so it's fine. Also it will rotate out someday so it's fine. Also it's not too frustrating to play against so it's fine.

  • Why was Aggro Priest nerfed so fast compared to pretty much all other aggro decks?

Something something class identity. They should have HoFed divine spirit for sure

  • Fan Community Spotlight - Maxlot's Summoner Class

So Invoke is same with Kicker in MTG. Cool mechanic to be in hearthstone tho. I have been a bit of angry btw because i have that in my mind for a custom Expansion. :D anyways, goodjob in this. :)

  • Zilliax

Honestly wouldn't mind seeing Zilliax moved to standard at some point. It is one of the most flexible and best balanced cards in the game. I have lost many games because my opponent used one, but I can honestly say it has never felt oppressive or overpowered. It is a good tool and makes the game much more interesting.

Please no. Azure Drake never felt oppressive or overpowered, but it was basically in every deck in all metas. Glad it's not anymore.

  • Glory of the Zandalari - Custom Event

Is Rain of Toads really that bad of a card? I know that most of my decks aren’t that great, but for that card I’ve never really felt like it was too weak

  • August Nerfs Now Live! Zephrys Improvements and Bug Fixes

Dusted everything. Had 7 Conjurer's Calling 2 regular Extra Arms and 1 golden Extra Arms and all the legendaries. Ended up with almost 7k dust. Not too bad. Even if I craft Barnes and Dr. Boom again which I will probably do I still have enough dust for quite a bit more stuff.

  • Why was Aggro Priest nerfed so fast compared to pretty much all other aggro decks?

Seems pretty bizarre that once priest finally got a non dragon/non SS actual aggro(ish) deck that it gets nerfed while in the past paladin/warlock/warrior got to use aggressive strategies for significantly longer before ever getting nerfs (and even then some of those classes did not always get deck crippling nerfs for their respective decks in some of their respective metas).

  • Tactician Custom Class (4/12/20 - Ashes of Outland)

Thanks for the input! I've made some changes:

    • Fixed the periods on keywords, Dragon Portal, and added "Hero Power" to the Hero Powers.
    • Put the upgraded Hero Power next to the main one (it used to be down in the Tokens section but that probably wasn't visible enough).
    • Into the Fray is now Into the Fight
    • Swapped Pandaren General and Hozen Noble's set placement.
    • Clarified Lich Mystic's text so it specifies that it gains the base stats and not the current stats.
    • Torga, the Turtle is now 6 Mana 4/7.
    • Changed Cursed Fire to "Silence and deal 3 damage to it [the minion]" so it still gets the idea of hurting the minion across without locking out the board.

I guess I'll need to figure out what to do about Tactic since most people are confused by it. I don't want to weaken the effect, but it needs to be simplified somehow. Is describing it as a permanent Aura effect clearer, or do you guys think I need to change the mechanic?

  • Aggro: Face Warrior

You're 100% right. I was definitely tired when I wrote that lol. Definitely try this deck then, I'm sure it'll work!

  • Conquer Air & Sea - Rank 5 Highlander Dragon Hunter

    I'm missing:

    Deathwing

    Faceless Manipulator

    Brightwing

    Emeriss

    Houndmaster Shaw

Any suggestions? Or should I just hold out until I get them? This deck looks like so much fun and I really want to play it.

  • Fan Community Spotlight - Maxlot's Summoner Class

I think that's more than a fair point. In general it's probably safer to buff an expensive invoke like that of Evil Counterpart than it is to buff one like Earthquakes, because Evil Counterpart is a card included as a flexible card that gives you large bodies rather than a flexible card that gives you a board clear and maybe a body. The first card type is a lot less likely to be included in decent quantity than the other since it's inherently greedier, so as long as the cards with potent late game effects remain a greedy card to include, summoner's less likely to turn into a late-game powerhouse. The potential greediness of summoner is something that I feel I definitely have to watch over.

Also, more competitions would be great, they're very enjoyable to watch over, even when not directly participating in.

  • Glory of the Zandalari - Custom Event

Hey cool! I'm glad someone else tried this out. Makes me want to get back to a similar attempt I started for Goblins vs Gnomes. You've stuck to simpler buffs than I did, more in the style of the Boomsday event. With the recent reversion for Pocket Galaxy and Extra Arms, I do wonder if this kind of thing will happen again, or if they regret doing it.

Overall, I like most of the buffs. And I like the way you've divided it into Fair Buffs and Interesting Buffs.

Druid is great, I like the 3 cost Predatory Instincts. In a class with so much card draw, it just isn't appealing enough at 4 mana, despite their being decent beasts to draw like Amani Warbear.

Hunter I'm not impressed by. Bloodscalp just is a slow discover effect, with a conditional. It's kinda a garbage card, would need more than mana or attack/health changes to become 'interesting'. If you want to be bold, keep Hazalli at it's normal mana and give it Rush, just like the lynx tokens. The real reason Hazalli doesn't see play? Mech Hunter and Zilliax. It's also a 5 cost rush, way faster, way more defensive.

Mage: Lowering the costs on board clears is always dangerous, and Blast Wave was a decent card in Arena, where a combination board clear+card generation effect is very powerful. Also, maybe don't buff two board clear cards? I'd say what you've done to Arcanosaur already qualifies as Interesting.

Paladin: Bloodclaw is way more powerful now, a bold move. It'll clear most 2 drops and many 3 drops. The difference between 2 and 3 damage is huge on the first few turns of the game. Not saying this is OP, but you've certainly made a bad card much better!

Priest: Grave Horror is cheeky! And probably a good idea. Surprised we haven't actually seen a full nerf that puts this card at 13. Surrender to Madness... maybe it's playable now? Such a tricky card for an archetype that never worked.

Rogue: Stolen Steel is a 'fair buff' only because Rogue has no shortage of decent Rogue weapons in standard and wild, plus it's hero power and now the quest. It's fun to gamble on in wild though, I support the buff. Graal is such a weird card. It's a strange enough effect to warrant being legendary, but it's just a funny way to draw cards. Buffing it is probably fine, but Rogue has never had problems drawing cards, not sure this pushes Graal into playable territory.

Warlock: Demonbolt is fine. Void Contract is scary! The cost is also a turn limit. It's way easier to play this turn 5 and lose a bit of tempo than to play it on turn 8 when you're either winning or in desperate need of a tempo swing to avoid losing. I'm not sure I want to see this card played more often, frankly. It'd be interesting though!

Warrior: Spirit of the Rhino seems fine at 1 mana, why doesn't it see play? I guess warrior just has plenty of good cards. It ultimately fits into some kind of mid-range or tempo deck that has just never quite existed, in the current standard. 0 Mana is fair, makes it easier to toss out as fodder for traps, but im not sure it'll see play or qualifies as an 'interesting' buff.

The new cards: Not sure how I feel about that Raccoon. Feels like Patches but worse. Why doesn't every single deck run it as a way to increase consistency? Especially if everyone gets it as a free card. I do like the Shrine though! Neat idea. Not sure where to go with the legendary, but maybe try a few more itterations and see what you can come up with.

Overall, I really like it! Glad someone else tried this out. I think it's a good exercise for card balancing that isn't 'card balancing in a vacuum' like we so often do on custom cards. We've played these cards, or rather, we haven't played them because they suck. So buffing them is a fun way to think about the game.

  • Card Nerf - Extra Arms

can we start a petition to change it back? or is it too late?

  • The Old Gods, Masters of Madness - Traversing Azeroth

    Simply Awesome!
    10/10

  • The Old Gods, Masters of Madness - Traversing Azeroth

Awesome! I'm always on the lookout for any new interesting ones, so let me know if you ever find any. I don't like them too grim or cynical, so ones like Game of Thrones are out for me, but I'm sure there's others out there just waiting be be discovered.

  • What are you going to craft with your nerf dust?

I got a golden Luna's Galaxy from the pre-purchase. I have enjoyed playing it in mage, but I will be dusting it for that sweet 3200 dust. Going to be essentially converting it into a golden Mecha'thun. I have been having lots of fun with Warlock and Rogue 'Thun. And Mecha'thun looks awesome in golden.

  • Should I dust my golden Sir Finley of the sands?

    But... but... its so shiny

  • Should I dust my golden Sir Finley of the sands?

Thank you so much guys! You have all been very helpful. So far SOU has been kind of a disappointment. Plus I got Siamat and King Phaoris from card packs so I’ll refrain from dusting the golden and Wait till the next expansion.

  • Ever root against friend when spectating for quest?

I feel ya OP.  Creativity is lost for these people hating on your post. I play net decks to climb like most people, but i have totally conceded when I was going to win against a clear home brew experiment deck - out of respect. And I have had the same done to me once. It is a GAME after all!

  • What are you going to craft with your nerf dust?

Ended up crafting a Piloted Sky Golem and Khadgar for Even Conjurer's Calling Mage!

Not sure what I'll do with the rest of the dust though.

  • Card Nerf - Extra Arms

Pretty sure this nerf completely tanks the combo priest archetype. Maybe too soon to call it, but from what I've seen, the combo priest deck is now dead in the water.

  • Zilliax

Zilliax is the current era's Azure Drake and Stonehill Defender (remember that card in almost every deck?).

    Ultraflexible.

But not OP on its own, quite easy to remove and gives a heal or brief taunt (or in some cases a boost to a minion). It was statted just right

And he's not making the meta stale like Genn/Baku.

Now if Control Warrior landed Zilliax like mad in Dr. Boom's hero power or kept landing on them in minion generation, or some other major shenanigans ... yeah, Zilliax would be sent to Nerfhalla.

But so far in a year, nothing other than he shows up in almost every deck (including some priest ones) and he'll probably be given a memorable send off when April comes.

To be fair I wonder why nearly no one (except some Shamans in the form of Earth Shock) doesn't run Silence.

Because there isn't a whole lot of magnetize synergy going on. Not enough to warrant running silence cards anyway.

And silencing Zilliax on its own is absolutely useless. By the time you get to interact with it it's already lost the majority of its perks (divine shield, rush and the first lifesteal). At that point you're silencing a 3/2 with lifesteal and taunt...

You're not wrong, but there are actually a considerable number of cards that should push players to run Silence: Combo Priest in general, Crabby boy, Mech shenanigans in general, Quest Paladin,...
