I´ve noticed that after the new patch today, we got new achievements that grant XP requiring new cards from the mini-set.

Go hunt those sweet new XP! :)

I bought the bundle and opened a pack. I now have 3 Hysteria and 1 Revenant Rascal.

Greybough

• Sprout It Out! [Passive]
  • Give +1/+2 and Taunt to minions you summon during combat.

Players with Battlegrounds Perks will have early access to these new Heroes before they’re formally released on February 4.

The Darkmoon Races Mini-Set

Hearthstone’s first ever Mini-Set, The Darkmoon Races, features 35 unique cards—4 Legendary, 1 Epic (x2), 14 Rare (x2), and 16 Common (x2) for a total of 66 new cards that draw on familiar card mechanics from throughout the Year of the Phoenix! Duels Updates

The Duels Mid-Season Update will add 10 new Hero Powers, 25 new Signature Treasures (5 of which are Dual-Class), 4 new Passive Treasures, and 2 new Active Treasures on January 21! Heroic and Casual ratings will reset with the 19.4 patch, and new Achievements will become available for you to complete. Read more about the Duels Mid-Season Update here!

Dev Comment: There is a known issue where the countdown timer at the bottom of the Duels start screen is incorrect. Duels ratings will reset with the 19.4 patch on January 21.

Bug Fixes & Game Improvements

• Fixed a Battlegrounds bug where Argent Braggart would not retain stat buffs when tripled.
• Fixed a bug where Malevolent Strike would not discount itself when created by Deck of Lunacy.
• Fixed a bug where losing control of a minion immediately when it comes into play (such as playing Silas Darkmoon on an empty board) would not correctly Corrupt cards in hand.
• Fixed a bug where the ‘created by’ tag on generated cards was showing up as ‘UNKNOWN ENTITY’ when played.
• Fixed a bug where Glinda Crowskin would not grant Echo to cards modified by Deck of Chaos.
• Fixed a visual bug where transforming a Dormant minion could make it appear to retain buffs while Dormant.
• Fixed a visual bug where Corrupted minions appeared to respawn on the board after being destroyed.
• Fixed a visual bug where viewing progress for quests such as Open the Waygate would no longer highlight cards in hand that did not start in your deck.
• Fixed a visual bug where Zombeasts in play only displayed card text for the first beast selection when using the Build-A-Beast Hero Power.
• Passive Treasures offered between matches in Duels should now present more options that are better suited for the class you're playing.

Coming February 2 - Book of Heroes Anduin

Follow Anduin’s journey in the next installment of Hearthstone Book of Heroes, releasing on February 2! Defeating all 8 bosses in this linear adventure will reward 1 Priest Pack, containing only Priest cards from Standard!

After looking around forums and youtube videos I see that many of the players plan to buy the expansion directly with the 2000 gold. I was initially against it because I think none of the legendaries will see consistent enough play, but I believe you will get more dust overall by buying it instead of just buying 20 packs of darkmoon faire.

However there is something very important I think players should do, and that is opening all those packs you saved first. If the game works as it should, the no duplicate rule will not happen if you already have the cards, so you'll probably end up getting around *4 of all the commons and some extra rares. This is pretty important because I believe some of those common and rare cards are potential cards to be hit by nerfs.

Arbor Up , [Hearthstone Card (Libram of Judgement) Not Found], Hysteria(it creates a 7-turn kill combo in wild, a nerf like this has happened before), ALL of the rogue cards are pretty powerful, and Backfire are some of the most dangerous cards of the expansion. You can even add some others to the list even though I would disagree with it.

So TLDR: Open packs from DMF first before buying the mini-expansion, it will probably give you some extra dust.

EDIT: Just now I saw some comments in another thread about how you could risk getting a duplicate legendary by following this method, and I agree to an extent, I think your decision should depend on what legendaries you want from this set. If you still have a legendary from the basic Darkmoon Faire collection you want then maybe you don't want to open packs first. You can consider it if you got a legendary recently too, as the chances are lower.

Hi, so first of all just got back from 2 years break, account was hacked but restored, with my collection 80% gone...anyway had dust for rogue so went with Kingsbane and mecha'thun looked fun (which actually took me to diamond 10 then KB to 5)  but other than rank 3 I can't get farther.

Secret mages all over can't really work around them at all and priests....depends on drawing a sap or not......sad thing i created a mech sham for fun , took me to d4 , disco lock half complete d3 , but idk, it's been 3 days straight i got fed up now..

old time wild player, rank 2 in old system but gave up that time due to work and because it's killing the fun of the game so went with maly lock back then lol but still was more variety in meta than now.

Do they really not know their own game well enough to know that a spell that does nothing can never work? Exception being Pocket Galaxy but wow... top decking these cards late game can be a death sentence! Just add 'draw a card.' to the end of it, even if you have to raise it a Mana it'd be better. Only me?

will i get a "free" ticket for both modes, or is this just arena only?

Imho aside from maybe 5 or 6 cards, the rest are not worth your resources and will not see play.

The warlock legendary is meant for a control style which at least at this moment doesn't even exist.

The priest one has a larger chance to make it, but is such a horrible top deck it will be overated like the dragon reduction one from DoD.

Moonfang the neutral is a 5 Mana do-nothing that might as well be a 5 Mana 6/6 which is not good enough.

The Rogue/Mage legendary is probably the best, being a small spell nets you two hopefully good cards but is for control and neither class is currently working that either.

These four cards are largely what you are paying for and after rotation some certainly can be promising but I predict none of them finds a home in any high tier deck *now...

The solo epic (you pay to get just one...) Is ridiculous underpowered as well, though I'd love to see it in Battlegrounds XD

This leaves us with some rares and common that are worthwhile such as Lucky soul Hoarder, Guidance, Arbor up, Libram of Judgement, and especially Sparkjoy Cheat. The thing is... They are rares and commons. Just open or craft them! That's my 2 cents. Don't waste your gold on this dissapointing release.
