  • If lackeys were still in rotation, the base version would be quite useful. Could still be relevant if stealth/weapon rogue remains a threat.

    The midpoint version is the sweet spot, IMO, since it hits a lot of midrange threats, notably token druid.

  • It's not "secret" as in "hidden", it's a slot for a secret around your hero portrait.

  • Agreed! I haven't played WoW in 10 years, so it was nice to have a breakdown of what the Hearthstone designers could be using as inspiration.

  • If hunter has a top-tier deck, this card will be a part of it:

    1. It draws specific cards, which is crucial for decks that need a specific setup, including combo decks;
    2. Hunter doesn't have any decent card draw in its Core set outside of Tracking, so it relies on expansion cards to fill that weakness.
  • Kezan Mystic is just crying in a corner. ;-)

  • You overlook two important factors:

    1. It draws specific cards, which is crucial for decks that need a specific setup, including combo decks;
    2. Hunter doesn't have any decent card draw in its Basic/Classic set outside of Tracking, so it relies on expansion cards to fill that weakness.
  • Demon hunters already had lifesteal, card draw, weapons and silence in their class identity. Now Blizzard is adding deathrattles? What's next, divine shield and overload?

  • Effectively, this is non-targetable rush, and will often be unplayable if it's not outcast. It's not amazing even if it IS outcast. I don't see how it fits the demon hunter strategy.

  • This and the rare they just revealed strongly hints that mage will be able to upgrade their hero power, at least temporarily. However, will mage have the tools to survive until turn 10 to play this card?

  • Avenge + Cannonmaster Smythe = I predict tempo/secret paladin will be at least tier 2.

  • Like the original version, I expect this will see play in some control decks at least -- probably not paladin (many of their good cards are 4 mana) or druid (Overgrowth is better), but maybe priest and warlock?

  • Honestly, I think the reason nothing special was made with Brawl 300 is because no one realized it was coming up. Team 5's attention is on the next few sets, modes and events, while the outside community is waiting on the new expansion and rotation with baited breath.

    Tavern Brawl is my favourite mode -- I'll usually play 30-40 games when the decks are premade, down to 5-10 when you need to build your deck. On the other hand, I dislike Battlegrounds, because it's like a whole new environment where you have to learn all the permutations of hero powers and minions to do well.

  • I like the comparison to Battlefiend upthread. It's definitely not an "auto-include", but it's now a decent option if you need a 1-drop.

    P.S. I wanted to commend you for using "its" and "it's" correctly -- it's a pet peeve of mine that seems to be spreading. :-)

  • No, because minion has to survive to trigger frenzy.

  • The effect is too specialized to be attractive in decks that could activate it, especially since there's no way to turn health into offensive capability anymore.

  • This would've been a regular inclusion in highlander decks. Otherwise, I don't see who would bother to put such a low-impact legendary in their deck.

  • No one will ever willingly put this in their deck. It's much too slow compared to the other card generators which are battlecries or spellbursts -- this needs to attack into a minion AND survive to generate a spell.

  • If lackeys weren't going away, this would be a nice way to keep them under control. As it is, it needs to be combined with another effect to be relevant.
