  • Bladefist is good, esp in long games, and deathwing can clean a board at turn 8 which often allowed me to steal the tempo from rogues.

If I had to replace deathwing I would look for something that give me tempo advantage, a goblin bomber or something with value like another pillager.

IN all cases, it would be a card aimed to warriors and rogues more than DH, the DH match up is already fine as it is.

What about Ancharrr? I don't have that and... I don't wanna spend 1600 dusts on a pirate legendary card.

Ancharrr is really nice because risky skipper is a core card of the deck, you need it to build armor against DH and to make bombs in other match up. So the deck would work without it but the pirate package would be much less efficient.

  • It's good vs DH, I Iost against the only hunter I faced, but I was salty about it, my draws felt extremely unlucky.

  • Finished my climb to legend with Odemian's bomb warrior, a very nice deck in a DH/rogue crowded meta (secret rogue is hard to beat with egg warrior and but went 7-0 against them with this deck.)

  • My path to legend was quite simple : tempo DH to get to diamond fast then egg warrior, it seemed all simple until d3 but at this point I faced a TON of secret galakrond rogue which seemed to counter me pretty hard.

Then I remembered Odemian (French pro player from Solary) had a bomb warrior list, so I gave it a try. It worked wonder, I got 9-4  to get legend, including a 7-0 against rogue (yeah it was that many rogues!)

I also managed to win against priest, which was litterally impossible with egg warrior.

So here's the deck, don't hesitate if you face lots of rogues and DH.

Some quite familiar decks are in this meta. Highlander Hunter, Face Hunter, Evolve Shaman, Highlander Mage, Enrage Warrior, Zoo Warlock, Galakrond Rogue - all from the Year of the Dragon. Outside of Spell Druid and Demon Hunter, no groundbreaking new archetypes. The only thing players miss about Year of the Raven is Zilliax. Shows the huge power difference between last year and the one before.

And I'm very surprised that Galakrond Priest is finally a top meta deck. It was dismissed as terrible for almost the entirety of Descent of Dragons.

At this rate nothing is new, ever. Zoolock existed since lauch, higlanders and galakrond decks will be there until Zephris/Dragon queen  and Galkrond will be out, and so on.

But you have to see beyond this, Egg warrior is really a new deck, using mechanics that are very different than what we had with Galakrond warrior before Ashes of outland came out.

Highlander mage is now very different, Luna and Luna's pocket galaxy going to wild really changed the flavour of the deck.

Galakrond rogue is now played with secrets (in its best version imho) and no longer has Leeroy jenkins. It's a totally different deck.

And you could talk about all the archetypes that disappeared : mech pal, mech control warrior, quest hunter, embiggen druid...

Honestly the game is vastly different than what it was before rotation.

It’s usually not a good sign when the meta’s foremost control archetype can’t silence its premier aggro strategy.

The latest versions of Galakrond priest I saw (it's actually the second most popular deck among streamers after box mage) are more mid decks than control decks, they don't even run Plague of Death and many have no Holy Nova at all. Instead, they rely on high value cards, such as Sethekk Veilweaver or Thoughtsteal

So yes the match up is not that good against DH, but saying the meta is not in a good place because DH tempo beats Galak priest is not totally accurate imho.

  • I see were you're coming from, nevertheless, this article lets people believe that face hunter is a 60% winrate deck and gives a poor image of the meta and the game as a whole.

I'm not making anything up here, just read the comments and you'll see how people to interpret this kind of article. At the very least you should have added a warning comment about how these stats are to be taken with caution.

You also say it's stats from people "enfranchised enough to have HSReplay installed" which actually would be another huge bias in the data : not every game is taken into account, it's just people on a comp try-harding the last days of the season.

And this also induce the major bias in these stats imho : people that played these fast deck in the last week of the season were actually the ones trying to get legend of get higher ranks at the last minute and they needed fast decks. What did other people do? They were playing Libram Paladin or whatever meme deck of their choice and they were not try-harding at all.

We're basically comparing people that really wanted a lot of win in a short time to people that were just enjoying meme decks or testing things, building their own list and such.

Moreover, you say you wanted to emphasis the speed of the climb, but in this case, why not putting the average game time, which HSReplays also provides afaik, instead of win rate alone? This is misleading.

As for the seeing what are the most played decks, I think the best thing would be to recommend people to adapt to what they see instead of what HSReplays says : I've played 50 games in the new season, I'm currently at D5, and I've only met 3 warlocks, why would I care about this class? The sensible choice is to always adapt to what you actually see, instead of to some theorical situation a web site gave you. It teaches you how to tune your decklists and become a better player.

But it's just my opinion, feel free to discard it.

  • Okay, I really disagree with this emphasis on HS replays stats WHICH HAVE ALWAYS BEEN MISLEADING AND BIASED.

Never ever HSreplay put a control as the top meta deck, even when control groups where the best decks. HS replay will always overrate aggro decks because they are the easiest to play and more players manage to reach the minimum skills to have decent results with them.

HS replays stats shouldn't be used to analyse the meta, it's just wrong. If you listen to HSreplay, totem shaman and murloc pal are actual decks.

Look at this thread : just disgruntled people saying "OMG DH is so imba" "Meta sucks" and such kind of BS, simply because they are presented biased stats and it makes them feel oppressed.

Truth is full aggro decks like zoo warlock and face hunter are not in top 5 decks, not even remotely. Truth is when you get to a rank were people know how to play egg warrior, DH is much weaker. Truth is galakrond priest, galakrond rogue and highlander mage are better decks than some presented in this list.

I'm sorry but this kind of news is not on par with this site's usual standards.

Warrior is insane rn. I'm playing the VS list with Gromm (very good closing games, specially against priest) and 2x Injured Tol'vir instead of the eggs and Teron. Just got to legend with a 22-4 record on Diamond league.

I've noticed Teron is easily outplayed by rogue 1 mana 1/2 freezing sap

Do you see a lot of rogues though? Anyway when facing rogues, just go for moderate Terons, like just one egg, so you don't loose that much to the Blackjack Stunner

  • Yeah, it's just as expected : the choice to nerf DH's counter more than DH itself just killed Warlock without hurting DH. I've tried to see the reason for such violence against Gul'dan but failed.

Oh yeah, [Hearthstone Card (Jaraxxus) Not Found] is still not played, who would have thought?

  • Tempo is often gained though value trades, so more hp is never bad.

For instance, a 2 mana 2/3 that gives +2 to an ally is a good tempo card. What do you call shield of faith though?

  • It's a tempo death rattle priest deck, not a control resurect kind of deck. Therefore Convincing Infiltrator doesn't fit the deck at all.

In Hearthstone, deck have types, like "aggro", "tempo", "control" or "combo" (you've surely heard these words already) it is important to respect these archetypes when adding or removing cards.

"Tempo" means constant board presence, with bigger and bigger threats, your deck has a rythm, like a piece music, hence the word "tempo". Convincing Infiltrator is a very defensive card that is not a threat at all for your opponent (it only has 2 damage!!!) so it's not good in tempo. You'll see it in resurrect priest which is a control deck (control decks are decks where you just stay on a defensive stance and win with big end games cards or simply with fatigue).

Try to think about deck archetypes and their general strategies when you make your own decks and you we'll see much improvement in your gameplay.

I hope I've been clear enough, if you need further explanations, don't hesitate to ask, in the mean time, have fun on ladder :)

  • yeah I hope so, I had nice versions of quest warlock or big warlock when the extension came out, could be cool if they became viable.

I was talking about Jaraxxus cause apparently it was a reason for the nerf of sac pact : people couldn't play Jaraxxus cause Zephrys would insta kill them....

  • IMHO, warlock is really the class being nerfed the most, as now it will struggle in its best match up : DH. I don't see gala warlock standing a chance vs Tempo DH now.

I just hope I won't have to craft Jaraxxus to make the class viable now, as I really don't like this mechanics.

DH's changes are kinda cosmetic imho, the fact that [Hearthstone Card (Altruis the Outcast) Not Found] still can hit face, that [Hearthstone Card (Glaivebound Adept) Not Found] still does 4 damage and that fiend still is one of the best tier 1 ever, makes me think tempo DH will still be pretty strong. Kael'thas nerf may not hurt combo DH that much either.

As for Libram paladin, don't think this change will be enough but maybe it can become a good tier 2 deck...

  • Good news and not only for pack drops. To me the most important point is we're getting competitive HS on twitch again. The switch on YouTube is currently a failure : nobody watched the master tour and the grand masters are not even broadcasted anywhere.

You got to go to YayTears to have results and see that Muzzy beat Monsanto 3-2 in what was probably a cool match with high level plays, but we'll never know, just like we'll never know how good was the match between Swidz and Bunnyhoppor... (Swidz won, fyi)

What is the point of organizing esport in 2020 if nobody can see it?

This INNvitationnal on the other hand has some good players, we'll probably see some cool plays and enjoy high level HS.

  • Tars, the french pro player, made a vid on his YouTube channel with a deck that cost 0 dust : only basic and initiate cards you don't even need to bu a single pack.

In his vid he's playing it a 1k legend or so, so it's decent.

    Here's the Code

  • Warrior is here, it'll be high in the list next week, thanks to NoHandsGamer's Egg warrior and also some control warrior list that are getting more and more polished.

    NoHandsGamer's list :

  • I have been using this card for a few days, and I must say it's my favorite card in the extension so far, the design is just out of this world.

I use it in Galakrond warlock, and it gives insane spell power, like Nether Breath dealing 8 damage and healing for 8 and Dark Skies going nut.

But the best part is it can backfire so violently : let it on the board and suddenly Flamestrike becomes [Hearthstone Card (Malygos's Flamestrike) Not Found]

Such a powerfull yet risky card that forces you to think twice before using it.

This mechanics is just insane, I love it.

  • Flik is just insane, if rogue stays in the meta it's a must have.

Maiev can fit in much more decks but is not *that* good.

In reply to Craft Flik or Maeiv?
