Is it just me, or are these sooo much better than the SI nightfall cards?
2 mana 2/3 elusive and 3 mana 5/3 overwhelm versus 1 mana 2/1 with a temporary +2/+0 (Stygian Onlooker) and 3 mana 3/2 with Drain 2 (Doombeast).
To play nightfall effect you need to play at least 2 cards each turn (and more than 1 mana), and until now we haven't seen many card draw in Targon (there's 2 mana heal and draw). So maybe nightfall deck is a little bit restricting to build. Idk, maybe there will be cards that help..
Maybe there are even cards in this reveal that help...
Way too subtle, Nevin.
You just gotta go BOOM Lunari Duskbringer.
Also there's Zenith Blade, not to mention all the Gem generators. Plenty of ways to keep your Nightfalls going regardless of your secondary region.
The 1 drop is nice, an early body that gives you a 1 mana spell that let you play a nightfall card without losing priority. The petal can be used to play a nightfall unit a turn before if you have one spell mana.
The 2 drop is a 2 mana 2/3 elusive, which is a good stateline for her keyword; targon has some support cards and this follower is a good one to permanent buff.
The 3 drop is very strong in offesive decks, 5/3 with overwhelm is huge for a 3 drop. Paired with a support unit like Taric seems very strong.
Considering how reveals are coming out, tomorrow will be revealed a targon champion with nightfall synergy (it's pretty clear what champion it will be, even for me, and i know 0 about LoL's lore) and other non-champ card too. But the cards revealed today are already good enough for me
Not super into Cresent Guardian but the other two seem solid. Having a 2 mana 2/3 with elusive with Lunari Shadestalker can be pretty nasty and I'm sure in the future I'll hate it when Ionia/Targon becomes a thing. As for the Lunari Duskbringer, its nothing flashy, but it gives you a nice token spell to cheat some spell mana and it's a body in the early game.
I think you’re underestimating the Crescent Guardian, since it’s basically a better version of the Noxus 4/3 Overwhelm (if you can reliably trigger Nightfall). I think if a Targon Aggro deck exists Crescent Guardian could be included in it, but it’s definitely possible that Targon won’t have an Aggro deck. The 1 drop is also really good, since it lets you trigger Nightfall on two turns for only one card, and it allows you to play Nightfall units a turn before they are supposed to hit the board.
You could be right, I can see a world where I'm wrong about the Crescent Guardian, it doesn't take much for that to happen. I just worry that as a 3/3 it is really weak and I get the feeling there will be the times when you have to drop it as that and feel awful doing it.
Watch from this perspective: if an aggro deck is pressuring you that much that you have to play crescent guardian as a 3/3 blocker, you are probably playing versus a deck where the plus 2 attack is probably not going to matter for trades
That isn't always true, if you are the aggro deck and this is your only on curve play to keep applying pressure you still need to play this often enough to ensure the opposing player doesn't get time to gain control over the board.
This is a good counterargument.
While i can see that often this card would be the only on curve option for turn 3, it's hard for me to see that it will be often the only option for that turn, probably there is a less mana efficient one (spell mana punishes non on curve plays way less than other card games).
In truth i don't see this card played that many times on turn 3 (unless godly hand), but still on a later turn crescent guardian plus another treath is very strong.
You could be right, I just feel you might prefer to run a 3 drop that isn't relying on being played at a later point in the game, at least in an aggro deck. A lot of the cards in those decks are just generally strong cards that are flexible enough to be played whenever its needed.
It's possible, maybe this is not an aggro card but more a midrange one; actually the more i think about it the more i agree
Crescent Guardian is definitely not an aggro card. It is a very good, surprisingly flexible midrange card.
Nightfall in general doesn't make a lot of sense for aggro (so far). Aggro needs to squeeze all the value it can from every card it plays, and that's just not something you can do consistently with the Nightfall keyword in the early game. Also, Nocturne is definitely not an aggro Champion. It is possible that Diana will come along and change everything, of course.
