We've got patch notes to share for this week's Legends of Runeterra game update! Here are the highlights:
- The very first co-op vs AI experience in labs.
- Pack Your Bags generated via Go Hard has received a large nerf. It now costs 5 mana, up from 1.
- Expeditions no longer have a bonus weight to Cosmic Creation archetypes.
- Text inconsistency updates.
You can read on for the full patch notes from Riot down below.
Quote From Riot Games We’re kicking off the year with the release of Patch 2.0.0, which introduces our first-ever Co-Op vs. AI experience. A new Guardian is also available in the store - it seems to have followed Zoe through one of her portals…
As mentioned during Season Start 2021, there’s a lot of exciting things coming to Legends of Runeterra in the coming weeks and months. Look forward to the upcoming Champion Expansion release of Aphelios, more information about the mysterious new Region of Shurima, and much more!
Card Updates
We will be aiming to make balance changes based on our metagame analysis and community feedback on a monthly basis. However, as will all live development, this may not be true for every single month - we may occasionally make off-cadence changes, such as this change to Pack Your Bags coming in 2.0.0, which was originally planned for a release in 2.1.0 in February:
Pack Your Bags - Cost increased to 5, from 1.
When players are able to transform Go Hard, the Pack Your Bags form frequently creates a situation which is unmanageable to play against given its board impact compared to cost. There should be a powerful payoff when players are able to successfully transform Go Hards - but it should give the opposing player more meaningful counterplay options leading up to Pack Your Bags.
New Lab: Co-Op vs. AI - United Front
Patch 2.0.0 brings a new rotation to Multilab:
- United Front (New in 2.0.0!)
- Quick Draw
- Welcome to the Jungle
Heimerdinger is always looking for his next great experiment, and what better time to try something new than during a full-scale Noxian invasion…?
United Front is a brand new way to play Legends of Runeterra as our first co-op experience! You and an ally (through Friend Challenge, or randomly paired through solo queue) will go up against a powerful AI Noxian General. Select a Champion to create a premade deck, and combine your forces to repel the invasion!
Personalization

Can we address the magical floating elephant in the room?
Personality: Clumsy
Best Friend: ZoeExpeditions
We’re quite happy with the balance of the various archetypes in Expeditions at the moment, with only Mending Touch requiring some tweaks to make it more consistently able to execute its core gameplan.
- Removed the offering bonus for Cosmic Creation archetypes. All archetypes are now offered at the normal rate based on whether they're a primary or a bonus archetype.
Mending Touch
- Removed: Bayou Brunch, Hunting Fleet, Divergent Paths, Sleepy Trouble Bubble
Bugfixes
- Fixed issue that would cause an error message to be erroneously displayed when casting Judgment while switching blockers.
- Fixed an issue that could occur with Vaults of Helia and units with the Last Breath keyword.
- Fixed an issue where occasionally level 2 Zoe would not share keywords.
- Fixed an issue where Heart of the Fluft would sometimes inherit negative keywords.
- Fixed multiple text inconsistencies across cards text and flyout.
Comments
they went hard with that nerf
yeah, they go hard.
Well, deserved nerf indeed, still a good can in my opinion but has waaaaaay more counter play at 5.
Maybe this means I can finally come back to playing LoR. I stopped playing pretty much 1 week after the KPOP event ended because the card designs/cosmetics were literally giving me cancer (really, a poro taking a selfie?) and the cards were just stupid OP. I have high hopes that the upcoming Ruination themed event is going to be better though.
I just hope Viego has a new "splash art" and is not the same as in "league of legends". At the moment the "canon" theme (except KDA) of the Runeterra universe has taken it well. I would expect great things from the event (and the next new expansion)
This is a good start but more work need to be done ( looking at you Fortune Croaker and The Grand Plaza).
why they did not fix hush killing units is that in the card mechanic ?
It's definitely not intended. My guess would be that it's a very quirky coding problem that isn't easy to reproduce much less fix, and the Live Design team seems like it's had extremely limited bandwidth between the seasonal tournaments and the holiday break.
It was pretty obvious that nerf, you didn't have to be very smart to realize that an area capable of doing 5 area damages for only 1 mana is a problem. The only card in the game capable of doing that is a Nautilus treasure and it's an RNG card that does damage to your minions and does not damage the nexus.
Now to wait until February to see grand plaza nerfs..
It's actually still better than the Shipwreck Hoarder treasure at 5-cost for dealing with the opponent's board (since it doesn't hit your side), and it's simultaneously better than Decimate for damaging the opponent's face.
I think the card is actually still not dead, even with such a massive nerf. Which is really saying something.
Thank God this card was nerfed, hopefully all the TF/Go Hard players switch decks and the playrate goes down. Now the only major issues are Grand Plaza and Lee Sin (Lee Sin might not statistically be a problem, but I find him so annoying that I want the playrate to be near zero).
I don't think Lee Sin is the problem. He was unplayable at 6 so can't really change him again. To me the problem is all the targon cards being overtuned that enable Lee Sin to be good. Almost every game is Targon + X. Targon just has way too much utility.
He was "unplayable" at 6-cost when he had a terrible champion spell and no shell to work with.
If he got nerfed to 6 now, when he has a freaking perfect champion spell AND an absurdly good shell of other cards to work with, he'd STILL be playable and nearly as annoying as he is now. The deck (with Zoe) doesn't actually care much about Lee costing 1 more mana.
Finally, pyb at 1 mana was too oppressive.
thank goodness go hard got nerfed
so frustrating to play against
