I don't know what to think of the lurker archetype because it is proably the most parasitic mechanic riot created so far.
And while it certainly makes it easier to build a lurker deck, it will cause lurker decks to play a large count of lurkers, that you only can achive by playing the same 5-8 viable lurkers making every lurker deck look VERY similar.
Is the lurk mechanic looking interesting? Not really it looks very much like the reputation mechanic from the latest set: it builds a solid tier 2 deck that is easy to pilot but not interesting or really toptier
I think that it will work like Deep and Tahm Kench/Soraka, we are going to have two champions that will work well with another (In this case Rek'Sai/Pyke) and not much else. I really hope that they move away from this rigid design in future expansions.
The main criticism around Lurk seems to be they people don’t see it triggering often enough. The buff is capped at one time per round, and you have to assume that on some of your rounds you won’t have a Lurk card on top of your deck. On some rounds you won’t even attack at all!
But these cards imply that Riot expects you to stack a lot of Lurk bonuses in a typical game. It will be interesting to see if that works out.
Well actually, I think they're implying otherwise. The fact that they're not using the words like "If you have Lurked 4+ times this game" but instead using Power makes it much more easier to get the payoffs using non-Lurk mechanics/cards such as Elixir of Wrath which was seen in the video. I was afraid that we were going to get something like Stonebreaker where the payoff is incredibly hard to pull off but this seems much more likely. They could even potentially replace Sejuani in Freljord Overwhelm.
That's more of a thought but I think the Xerxa'Reth, The Undertitan + Rek'Sai + Xer'sai Hatchling + Call the Pack is a good package to try and build around. You could try slotting in cards from Freljord Overwhelm because they are pretty buff oriented and Renekton is better than Sejuani since you want a 4 drop more so than a 6 drop. Still, don't get me wrong because you are correct since this is merely in the realm of plausible rather than certainty.
I want a Rek'sai board, 'cause that would be epic! With her fin moving around in the background. And music to smile evilly by; that's what I need. Conceptually Rek'sai is one of my favorite champions...I just wish she was actually good in League/Runeterra.
Is she that bad? according to mobalytics she is "C" tier but looking into it she is just really unpopular pick in solo Q.
that's cause a lot of her power is in her sonar ability which is hard to use alone and most people don't have the patience to actually use it, I am sure that if you go and main reksai you can get good results with her.
I just really dislike her sonar ability I feel blind with it, otherwise I would play with her more myself.
Spells can have Lurk, that's very interesting. I guess I see why they created the Lurker tribe just so they can clarify/separate it when mentioning Lurk.

Seems very highrolly if you can constantly predict rek'sai or not.. Will see what bildgewater got to offer and what pyke does.
The pay off is there at least.. Maybe we get landmarks with lurk and we can play shapes tone more easily.

Replace Sejuani ? how? Even if the Lurks cards turn out to be viable it still a mechanic that require you to build your entire deck around.

They didn't use Rek'Sai champions theme? My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

If anyone is curious what we're talking about:

Don't know if she'll be good at all, but the video makes Rek'Sai look fun at least. The level 1 art is badass.
Also, that spell has Lurk!
