Riot Forge has just had premiered a video where they talked about 4 games, including the much anticipated Ruined King, which is out now. Let's get into it.
The Ruined King
Arguably the most anticipated game of the lot, Ruined King: A League of Legends Story was announced back on October 31st 2020, and has been fairly quiet recently. Well, not only do we get new gameplay in this presentation, we also learn that it's available NOW! The game focuses on a team of champions made up of Miss Fortune, Braum, Pyke, Yasuo, Illaoi, and Ahri, on a quest to stop Viego, the titular Ruined King. The game is an RPG with turn based combat and free exploration, similar to Airship Syndicate's previous game, Battle Chasers: Nightwar.
The game is out now on PC, Playstation, Xbox, and Switch for 30 USD or your regional equivalent.
Note: the Epic store version of the game seems to have the wrong price. In Romania, for example, it's 30 RON, which translates to a little under 7 USD. This has now been fixed.
Note 2: There's a Collector's Edition available. It includes an Artbook, a Vinyl with the OST, a Bilgewater mug, a Kraken Coin, and some other goodies. The game is sadly digital only.
Hextech Mayhem
Announced about a week ago, Hextech Mayhem is a rhythm runner developed by Choice Provisions, starring Ziggs on a quest to build the greatest bomb Runeterra has ever seen, much to Heimerdinger's dismay.
The game is out now on Switch, Steam, GOG, the Epic Store, and Netflix Games, for 8.99 USD or your regional equivalent.
CONV/RGENCE
Announced on December 13th, 2019, Conv/rgence is a 2D platformer starring Ekko. In this game developed by Double Stallion, you take control of time manipulator Ekko, as he tries to prevent chem barons from destroying Zaun. The game allows you to rewind time and try again if you mess up a jump, or an enemy gives you a fatal blow.
The game is currently slated for a 2022 release.
Song of Nunu
The only game announced in today's presentation, Song of Nunu, developed by Tequila Works, is an adventure game where you're put in the frostbitten shoes of Nunu & Willump, as you try to find a way home for the little boy. The game sees you taking control of Nunu, with the ability to sometimes ride on Willump, as you make your way across the Freljord, solving puzzles and fighting enemies, including Lissandra.
The game is currently slated for a 2022 release.
Any of these games entice you? Are you taking the fight to the Ruined King's domain, or will you make sweet, explosive music with Ziggs? Are you looking forward to traversing Zaun, rewind, traversing Zaun as Ekko, or do you prefer a leisurely walk in the frozen Freljord with Nunu & Willump? Let us know in the comments bellow!
Comments
Ruined King is installing now :) The timing is unfortunate with the Sentinel event having come and gone, though; I wish they had said something. I think people would be understanding if there were delays or whatever.
Any chance of reviewing these games here? I know it’s only tangentially related to LoR, but I’m curious and not ready to buy them myself.
First impressions after two hours of playing Ruined King: if you've played Battle Chasers: Nightwar, you've played this lol. There is some additional complexities, sure, and yet they're practically the same; expected when they're from the same company, and probably 100% on purpose, but still.
I thoroughly enjoyed BC:N, though, so that's not an indictment. In this instance I'm good with more of the same with a League of Legends skin.
Speaking for myself only, it might be a while before I could review Ruined King, between a full-time job, trying to complete Ghost of Tsushima first, plus Hearthstone using up free time as well. I'll probably play some when the TV is in use and I can't access Ghost, but still: it's an RPG, so it'll take some time to get into.
Don't know about the other contributors.
Riot is Blizzarding Blizzard. (Announcing big projects at the same time as competitors).
Don't think this is more than a coincidence, those things are planned long in advance.
FYI Ruined King in the Hungarian Epic Games Store is 30 HUF - around $0.10, it's basically free. All the DLC is like 1 cent also.
Edit: the price's fixed now, but the game's still in my library :)
