Priests are devoted to the spiritual, and express their unwavering faith by serving the people. For millennia they have left behind the confines of their temples and the comfort of their shrines so they can support their allies in war-torn lands. In the midst of terrible conflict, no hero questions the value of the priestly orders. Priests utilize their holy powers to restore their health and that of their allies by calling on mystic shielding and holy empowerment. Priests’ connection with the minds and spirits of living beings allows them to control and manipulate others. They also dabble in shadow magic, and can deliver great amounts of immediate damage. Greetings. There's a lot to learn when jumping in to Hearthstone, and the goal of this guide is to help you get a clearer understand of this class's basic cards. You'll also find the levels at which you unlock cards & their golden versions.
The Priest class can be unlocked by defeating an opponent playing the class. It's identity involves healing, resurrection, manipulation, mind games, and shadow magic. As you level your Priest you will unlock the remainder of the class cards, many of which are quite powerful.
Basic Class Cards
You begin with 5 of your class cards available, while the other 5 must be earned through playing that class. An overview of these cards can be found below:
Golden Copies - Levels 40 & 42
Psychic Conjurer is a newer card that replaced Northshire Cleric. - This is a simple Battlecry minion that can be played at any point in the game.
- Cards are selected only from remaining cards in your opponent's deck, not in their hand or otherwise.
- Always pay attention to the size of your hand. You can only hold up to 10 cards, and if your hand is full the effect will be wasted.
- The card you receive can give you some insight into what cards your opponent is playing against you.
Golden Copies - Levels 47 & 48
Power Word: Shield is a very simple but valuable addition to many decks. Priests benefit greatly by giving their minions additional Health, and drawing a card is a massive bonus for only 1 Mana! - Use this on minion that you would prefer to keep alive. That means you won't use this on a minion with Deathrattle nearly as often as you would on one with an active effect.
- This card is also great for any sort of strategy that involves playing several spells or low-cost cards.
This card is best used: - To increase the sustainability of your board by granting extra health.
- For increasing the consistency of your deck.
- In combination with particular cards with an effect triggered by casting many spells.
Golden Copies - Levels 23 & 26
Holy Smite is another cheap spell that can have a lot of utility. It will often be used to remove a minion, however there are multiple occasions when this may also be used as part of a lethal damage combo. This card is best used: - To remove enemy minions.
- To deliver lethal damage to your opponent.
- In combination with Spell Damage.
Golden Copies - Levels 36 & 38
Shadow Word: Pain is a very powerful tool that can remove minions with conviction from the board. - Any targetable minion with an Attack value of 3 or less will be destroyed when cast.
- If you have a simpler way to remove a minion, use that first. Try to save this card for minions that would otherwise be difficult to deal with.
This card is best used:
Golden Copies - Levels 15 & 20
Radiance is simple and cheap. It replaced Mind Blast in standard. - This is a new card in the game and it's value is not yet established, but at face value it doesn't seem particularly useful.
This card is best used: - To restore health to your Hero.
- To trigger effects that require spells to be played.
- When Auchenai Soulpriest is not on the board.

Cards Unlocked Through Class Level
Additional cards are earned ever 2 levels, up to 10. Levels are earned through individual class experience, and that is a product of playing the game!
We will give an overview of these locked class cards, and at which level you can access them:
Unlocked - Level 2 Golden Copies - Levels 28 & 30
Power Infusion is a newer buff spell that replaced Divine Spirit. - Increases the targeted minion's attack and health.
- Useful for making your minions more sustainable.
- Priests can take advantage of high health values due to their healing ability.
- This is a buff and can be removed through Silence or transformations.
Unlocked - Level 4 Golden Copies - Levels 32 & 24
Mind Vision is a tool to acquire cards from your opponent's deck. - The card you receive will tell you that you opponent also has that in their hand, so you can anticipate them playing it. If you are more familiar with popular decks in the meta you may also be able to have a general idea of what archetype they are playing.
- This is also viable with effects triggered by having or playing a lot of cards.
This card is best used: - To generate additional cards that may benefit you.
- To gain knowledge of a card in your opponent's hand and anticipate the play.
- In combination with effects triggered by having or playing a lot of cards.
Unlocked - Level 6 Golden Copies - Levels 45 & 46
Holy Nova is a key card for dealing with many minions. This card damages enemies and heals allies. We can tell this affects heroes because it uses the terms 'enemies' and 'characters'. - This is a very strong and valuable spell for both maintaining the survivability of your minions, and removing your opponents'.
- Combing this card with Spell Damage will increase it's lethality, however it will have no bearing on the amount of Health restored.
- Be aware that if you are playing this with a card like Auchenai Soulpriest on the board it will cause you to damage yourself rather than heal, which is usually bad.
- Playing this with Northshire Cleric in play will draw you a card for every minion that is healed, which can mean you draw up to 7 cards. Be aware of how many cards you have, and how many you might draw in this case.
This card is best used: - As a board clear, especially with Spell Damage.
- To restore Health to many minions at once.
- In combination with Northshire Cleric to draw multiple cards.
Unlocked - Level 8 Golden Copies - Levels 45 & 46
Shadow Word: Death is the big brother of Shadow Word: Pain and a another valuable removal tool available to Priests. - Since Shadow Word: Pain only affects minions with 3 Attack or less and Shadow Word: Death only affects minions with 5 or more Attack, Priest naturally has a more difficult time when minions have 4 Attack. Keeping minions at 4 Attack is a good strategy players might consider when playing against Priest opponents.
- Use this sparingly. Opponents may try to withhold their largest threats in anticipation of this card, so use your best judgement as to which targets this will be best used for.
This card is best used: - To remove large and threatening minions.
Unlocked - Level 10 Golden Copies - Levels 49 & 50
Mind Control is a very powerful card that can swing a match very quickly. - Any targetable minion you choose will become yours permanently. You will gain it and your opponent will lose it, so you can claim their offense as your new defense.
- This will consume all 10 of your mana, so be sure that it is worth that cost.
This card is best used: - To disarm your opponent by claiming an enemy minion and using it against your opponent.
- On the biggest possible threats or obstacles to clear a path for lethal.
- To re-claim the minion your Priest opponent just Mind Controlled the previous turn.
