Comments
New card type sounds ominous. Landmarks were very poorly implemented originally. Early landmarks were either entirely inviable (Vaults of Helia, University of Piltover), oppressive (Grand Plaza, Veiled Temple), or just plain toxic (Star Spring, Bandle Tree). Some early landmarks were inviable AND oppressive (Sun Disc), at different points in time.
While they did eventually settle on a formula that mostly worked in Countdown landmarks, it was a bumpy road to get here, and my guess is that we've got another bumpy road ahead with the new card type.
It's always a bumpy road when a game experiment with a new type of card or mechanic but in the end that what keep the game fresh and interesting, at least in my opinion.
Landmarks were a failure for a VERY long time. And even now landmark removal is rare and many regions do not have decent landmark removal still.
I am not sure if landmarks were the game's savior they were in the end just the equivalent on mtg's enchantments that... well also in mtg are mostly forming annoying/degenerate decks when they are competetive.
In the end I miss LoR origins and I never has a fan of landmarks but then I was never a shurima fan and proably never will be
Thats some exciting news!
EDIT: Anyone that plays LoL? Who is that champion in the picture?
Some people on the LoR Reddit brightened the image and most seem to think its Kayn.
So Riot's birthday gift for me is a reveal stream... I hope it's something interesting and fun :)
