Note that the Warlock theming and mechanics flow pretty well together: undead and discard are playing nice. Compare that to Shaman and undead where the old contradiction (transform versus enchant) was unaddressed. I'll grant Blizz a point for getting Warlock on point and possibly getting High Priestess Jeklik to see some play.
And finally we get the reason for Jelklik being in Core.
these arent actually that bad for discard cards...except the Ymirjar which is pretty much a worse version of Doomguard. the draw card is especially decent i think. i hope the legendaries are good.
We finally got our Walking Dead reference!
Flavor text is on point too
Kooooooooooorl!! :)
Blizz: pushing DiscoLock once again
Me: "Ah shit, here we go again"
Well, here's the discolock we all wished for, right back from the dead.
There's certainly a deck somewhere here, because there's discard effects, there's payoff, and there's the crucial draw factor. But it remains to be seen if this is straight up better than implock, because that deck can draw and pressure whereas discolock can whiff and whiff hard. Im not even sure if discolock can even out tempo or outdamage curse implock.
Of course there's two legendaries left uncovered, so we can assume that somehow discolock will work, because obviously team5 wouldn't just design shit like this without at least testing it out wink* wink*
Whatever it is, here's to hoping that Tome Tampering will remain unplayable in standard.
I faced implock once with my Lakkari pit list in wild. I won it, and it was a fair match where both player got to play efficiently.
Some of those card are straight up upgrade from some I currently run.
So yeah, the scale might tip in favor of discardlock.
It's already a solid archetype in wild. It's just unrepresented because it's bloody expensive.
The absence of Malchezaar's Imp alone makes the build contentious to say the least. Not having both the end game of lakkari pit and the early game of Tiny Knight of Evil makes it even more so.
Im not writing off discolock in standard, because obviously we havent even seen the legendaries yet, but there has got to be some power card for discarding so much, otherwise it might be better to just play curse implock.
I'm fairly certain Tiny Knight of Evil is in standard. Maybe that was griffin but I remember seeing him in the list when I was looking at imps (he counts).
Ah you Said both. Sorry reading on a phone is difficult. I am excited for disco lock again though. Should be a fun time.
