The Overwatch 2 - Deep Dive panel just finished! We've recapped the presentation below. It was very focused on Mauga, the eighth Overwatch 2 hero, coming in Season 8, and the 39th overall. Mauga is a Tank with unique crowd-control abilities and chainguns that set people on fire.

Mauga is playable right now through the entire BlizzCon weekend.

New Hero: Mauga

  • He was introduced in Overwatch 1's second short story.
  • The team worked with three cultural consultants to get his backstory, his Samoan tattoos, and the new map right.
  • Mauga is a Tank hero. Charge in alone or go with his team.
  • Sustains through dealing damage.
  • His passive keeps him going while he deals critical damage.
  • His guns hit-scan, so he's very effective against heroes that are far away.
  • He's 7 feet tall.
  • His playstyle is described as "brutal and strategic".

  • 10 left-hand chaingun hits set the opponent on fire.
  • While on fire, the right-hand chaingun deals critical damage.
  • The chainguns are bigger than Tracer!
  • Mauga has a muscle system. His muscles bulge realistically when he moves his arms!
  • During his charge ability, he cannot be stopped through any means.
  • If you stomp on an enemy hero with some precision, the charge stuns for a bit.
  • Mauga has two cybernetic hearts.
  • His ultimate ability Cage Fight, traps both you and enemies. You have unlimited ammo for the 10 seconds the cage is up.
